MLB Playoff Betting - NLDS Series will boil down to pitching | GamblingIQ - Online Gambling, Casinos, Sports Betting, and Poker
By Betonline.com
Online sportsbook customers and MLB betting enthusiasts will have an exciting sports betting opportunity beginning this week as MLB playoff betting gets underway. There’s a couple new faces in the NLDS betting pool this year with the Brewers vs. Phillies matchup and the Dodgers vs. Cubs matchup as well. Without question, the backbone of all four of these squads has been their pitching, and the rotations and bullpens will be at war for the first round.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies
It would appear that the Phillies have every conceivable advantage in this series (including home field!), and will thus be favorites on MLB playoff betting odds. The glaring concern for the Brew Crew is their bullpen, because unfortunately, C.C. Sabathia cannot pitch every single night. Question marks run far deeper than Eric Gagne—Solomon Torres isn’t exactly a proven post season dynamo himself. Those looking to bet on the MLB playoffs should beware of the Brewers in close games. Meanwhile, Phillies closer Brad Lidge has been lights out this season, backing up a solid pitching staff headed by Cole Hamels.
Both teams love to use the long ball, but nobody does it better than t"

Steve Beshear Seizes Website: NightMARE for Horse Gambling, Poker | Gambling911.com
Submitted by C Costigan on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 13:46.
Even before Thursday's hearing to determine whether 141 online gambling would be seized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Governor Steve Beshear apparently has wasted little time.
Gambling911.com broke the story Tuesday that LuckyPyramidCasino.com is now in the control of one Commonwealth of Kentucky Justice Cabinet Eric Lycan. LuckyPyramid registrar name was transferred this week to the state. The online casino was part of the popular Real Time Gaming software platform.
One of the largest online casino software companies, Microgaming, was believed to have representatives and executives in Barcelona this week for an online gambling conference catered to the European i-Gaming market. Microgaming, based in South America, was specifically named among the 141 domains Kentucky is looking to seize. Some of its licensees are also named.
Beshear's administration is looking to stomp out the horse racing industry online as a means of protecting is prized Kentucky Derby enterprise, however, a number of online casinos and poker rooms have also been named for good measure.
Online gambling affiliates, many of whom were also attending the gaming summi"

NCAA Football Matchup Preview – Buckeyes face Bobcats without Heisman candidate Wells | GamblingIQ - Online Gambling, Casinos, Sports Betting, and Poker
The No.3-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes suffered a huge scare in their opening game when they lost Chris “Beanie” Wells to injury, but they should have no problem on Saturday afternoon, when they host the Ohio Bobcats at Ohio Stadium.
Ohio Bobcats (+33.5) at No.3 Ohio State Buckeyes (-33.5) – 12:00 PM ET
The Bobcats could not get anything going on the ground as they fell 21-20 in their season opener at Wyoming, rushing for just 39 yards. This put a lot of pressure on quarterback Theo Scott, who responded by going 26-of-35 for 224 yards, one touchdown and one interception. This was a nice outing by the junior pivot, but you need to be able to run to control the clock, and the Bobcats were not able to do this. Ohio also killed themselves with penalties, committing 12. The Bobcats, quite frankly, are not a good enough team to overcome all of these mistakes.
Ohio State fans everywhere held their breath when Wells went to the ground during a 43-0 rout of Youngstown State at home. Wells, a leading candidate for the Heisman award according to most NCAA football futures, suffered a foot injury and will sit out this game as the"

Bet Jamaica Chevy Rock & Roll 400 Preview | GamblingIQ - Online Gambling, Casinos, Sports Betting, and Poker
- Clint Bowyer will be looking to lock down the final Chase position on Saturday night when the Sprint Cup Series hits Richmond for the 2008 Chevy Rock & Roll 400.
Bowyer ended up 10th in the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway last weekend, which kept him in 12th place in the driver standings. David Ragan was 13th at Auto Club, and he sits 17 points behind Bowyer in the standings. Kasey Kahne was eighth in the Pepsi 500, and he trails Bowyer by 48 points with one race left before the Chase begins.
Jimmie Johnson visited victory lane at Auto Club, beating Greg Biffle and Denny Hamlin across the finish line. Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth rounded out the day’s Top 5, while Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Kahne, David Reutimann, and Bowyer made up the rest of the Top 10.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. wound up in 11th place at the Pepsi 500. Jeff Gordon was 15th, Jeff Burton was 17th, and Tony Stewart had to settle for a 22nd-place result.
That win was Johnson’s third of the season, and he trails just Busch (eight) and Edwards (six) on the victories list. Busch, Edwards, Johnson, Earnhardt Jr., Burton, Biffle, and Harvick have all basically locked up Chase spots. Stewart, Kenseth, Gordon, Hamlin,"

Bodog Continues to Frustrate Vendors, Players | Gambling911.com
Submitted by C Costigan on Sun, 08/31/2008 - 18:57.
Bodog
Stories of Bodog refusing to honor contracts with vendors and advertising vehicles continued to surface over recent days with a number of affiliates complaining to Gambling911.com.
Affiliates, while still receiving installment checks from Bodog (BodogLife.com) were complaining that 'customer conversions were way down' and that the company was changing its payment terms without notice.
The troubled online gambling firm - once a powerhouse among Gambling911.com sponsors - was taken down from the site last week. It has been unable to process payments to and from gamblers since Forbes reported that bank accounts were seized from the US Government over the last six months.
According to the article on Forbes.com, $24 Million in funds has been seized by the US government over the past six months, funds the feds claim are in bank accounts used to fund operations and make payments to US-based customers of Bodog. Court documents obtained by Forbes cite that the seizures began in January of this year, and had continued through July.
'Processing is an issue industry-wide,' a source tells Gambling911.com. 'But in the case of Bodog, nobody (the processors) wants to do business with t"

NCAA Football Futures – Trojans Buckeyes at top of BCS pile
August 28, 2008
USC fell short of the BCS title game thanks to an upset to lowly Stanford, while Ohio State have been trounced in the past two BCS title games by teams from the SEC (Florida and LSU), but that has not stopped oddsmakers from putting the Trojans and Buckeyes at the top of the NCAA football odds heap. However, they will face stiff competition from the likes of Oklahoma and preseason No.1 Georgia.
The Trojans have a tough schedule, playing in the Pac-10, but their most difficult opponents, Ohio State and Arizona State, visit the Rose Bowl. USC received a boost when it was announced that injured quarterback Mark Sanchez would be ready for the start of the season, but the Trojans still have an offensive line with four new starters. Look for the defense, which welcomes back seven starters led by linebacker Rey Maualuga, to carry the team early in the season as USC was second only to Ohio State in total defense last season. USC has NCAA football odds of +350.
The Buckeyes are rated at +400, and they are an experienced bunch with 20 returning starters, including nine from last year’s defense which was the best in the nation. Running back Chris Wells is a legitimate Heisman candidate, and a lot of people will also be interested to see how highly-touted freshman quarterback Terrelle Pryor fits into the Buckeyes’ gameplan. Their trip to USC on Septemer 13th will have huge national implications.
Oklahoma comes in at at +500, and a midseason back-to-back against Texas and Kansas will show them if they are truly the class of the Big 12. Quarterback Sam Bradford returns from a brilliant freshman with seven other starters, but with only five starters back on defense, the Sooners could be in line for some shootouts.
Georgia may have the toughest schedule in the country, but that comes with playing in the brutal SEC. The Bulldogs go to South Carolina and Arizona in the first four weeks of the season, then at LSU, Florida and at Auburn, just to name a few. It is a good thing they have a Heisman candidate in sophomore running back Knowshon Moreno, a confident quarterback in Matt Stafford and nine returning starters on defense. It could be smart to grab the Bulldogs at NCAA football odds of +500.

Thursday ESPN Game -- NC STate Vs. South Carolina - Gambling IQ
Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: August 25
Bet Jamaica Daily Sports Roundup: August 25
August 24, 2008
The third week of the National Football League preseason schedule concludes on Monday with the Chargers hosting the Seahawks. Here’s your Daily Sports Roundup…
Event of the day . . .
Oddsmakers like the Chargers’ chances of beating the Seahawks at home on Monday night, as they’ve been set as 6.5-point favorites in the contest (with the total at 39.5 points). San Diego is 1-1 so far during the preseason (beating the Cowboys and losing to the Rams), but they managed to cover the posted spread in both those games. The Seahawks are 2-0 straight-up and 1-0-1 against-the-spread so far in exhibition play.
Seattle, though, isn’t expected to have starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck behind center against the Chargers on Monday night. Hasselbeck hasn’t seen the field for the team so far during the preseason, and he experienced more back pain during practice sessions this past week. The team is hoping he will be back on the field for Week 1.
The Chargers have health concerns of their own, as Shawne Merriman announced he has a serious knee injury and could be forced to miss the entire season. More information on that injury should come out this week. Tight end Antonio Gates, though, is getting closer to returning from his foot injury, and should be ready for the season.
Non-event of the day . . .
Jeff Francis was 17-9 for the Rockies last season, but this year he’ll be hard-pressed to even get half that many victories. The lefthander enters Monday’s game against fellow NL West weakling San Francisco with a 3-8 record and a 5.52 ERA, and he hasn’t earned a win since June 18. The Giants will counter with Matt Cain (8-9, 3.52 ERA).
Also on the schedule . . .
There are four other games on the National League schedule for Monday: the Cubs at Pittsburgh, the Dodgers at Philadelphia, Houston at the Mets, and Arizona at San Diego. Dan Haren (14-6, 3.12 ERA) is expected to take on Jake Peavy (9-9, 2.84 ERA) in that D-Backs/Padres game; they faced each other in an August 20 Arizona win.
Over in the American League on Monday it’ll be the White Sox at Baltimore, Cleveland at Detroit, Texas at Kansas City, Oakland at the Angels, and Minnesota at Seattle. Francisco Liriano (4-3, 4.24 ERA) is scheduled to get the ball for the Twins in that last contest; the lefthander has won each of his four starts since returning from the minors.
News from the wire . . .
The Blue Jays sent starting pitcher Shaun Marcum to the minor leagues, replacing him with John Parrish . . . Yankees starting pitcher Carl Pavano made his long-awaited return against the Orioles on Saturday night, giving up three earned runs on seven hits over five innings in a win . . . Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington solidified his hold on the team’s starting gig with a good performance against the Chiefs on Saturday.
Peek at the future . . .
Three key divisional battles will get underway on Tuesday, with the Red Sox taking on the Yankees, the Mets playing in Philadelphia, and the Cardinals getting a visit from the Brewers . . . there are 13 more NFL preseason games on Thursday, with the final three exhibition contests of the year being played on Friday . . . the second PGA Tour playoff tournament, the Deutsche Bank Championship, will get going on Thursday morning.
