Calgary Stampeders Struggle to Live Up to Odds in 2011

Lost in the early success of the Edmonton Eskimos is the fact that the top two teams in the West Division last year have struggled early in 2011. This week one of them will have a chance to salvage some momentum.

In a rematch of the 2010 West Division Finals, the Saskatchewan Roughriders will host the Calgary Stampeders Saturday at 9 PM EST.

Bet on the CFL with Bodog.

With a 1-3 mark through Week 4, the Roughriders are far from where they anticipated they would be to start the year after making it as far as they championship game last fall. They?ve struggle mightily on both sides of the ball, allowing a league-high 138 points against and scoring for themselves just 83.

All things considered, despite their success in 2010, the Roughriders have the second worst outlook on the CFL futures board with just 10/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup in the eight-team league.

The Stampeders are a bit of a different story. Though they finished last season with the CFL?s best record, their early exit at the hands of Saskatchewan spoiled the campaign. This time out expectations are high, despite their mixed success in the first month of the season.

Though Calgary has been towards the top of the CFL futures board all season (now with 4/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup), they sit at just .500 with a game log that includes losses to both the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Will this be the week the Roughriders show a glimpse of the team that rallied to the Grey Cup last week? Or will the Stampeders crawl back above .500 in their pursuit of a West Division first-round playoff bye.

NASCAR Brickyard 400 Preview

The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will return from a one-week break on Sunday, July 31 in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Ryan Newman took the checkered flag in the series' last event, the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, on Sunday, July 17.

Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin followed Newman across the finish line in New Hampshire, while Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the day's top five drivers.

Kasey Kahne, Bobby Labonte, Martin Truex Jr., Marcos Ambrose, and Kurt Busch made up the rest of the Top 10 at the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. Carl Edwards was 13th, Kevin Harvick was 21st, and Kyle Busch ended up back in 36th place.

Edwards now has the lead in the driver standings, sitting seven points up on Johnson after 19 races. Kurt Busch, Harvick, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Newman, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Hamlin round out the Top 10.

Jamie McMurray won the Brickyard 400 last year, while Johnson won the race in 2009, 2008, and 2006. Gordon is a four-time winner of the event, Stewart has two career Cup wins at Indy, and Harvick won there in 2003.

After racing at Indianapolis the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will begin their August schedule with the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on August 7. The rest of that month's schedule includes events at Watkins Glen, Michigan, and Bristol.

NFL Season Win Totals open at BetOnline

NFL Season Win Totals open at BetOnline

Not a day and a half after the NFL lockout was over, BetOnline was the first in the industry to open the always popular Season Win Totals. No surprise that the defending champion Packers are at the top of the heap with 11.5 wins. BetOnline?s odds-makers also have the New England Patriots at O/U 11.5 wins.

The Indianapolis Colts are handicapped at 10 wins this season. BetOnline is expecting a lot of ?over? bets on Indy considering the last time they had fewer than 10 regular season wins was 2001.

On the opposite end of the spectrum the NFL?s worst team last year, the Carolina Panthers, are expected to be bad again this year. BetOnline has them pegged at O/U 4.5 wins.

A lot of people are expecting a possible winning record for the Detroit Lions this year; their season win total currently sits at 7.5. Fact remains that the last time they had 8+ wins was 2000. And during that time frame, they registered seven wins just once.

To see the rest of 2011 NFL Season Win Totals, head over to BetOnline now. And don?t forget about the Lifetime Bonus Guarantee? a 25% bonus, up to $900.00 in free plays, on EVERY qualifying deposit.

Bettor Support vs. Experience on Display as Tigers Host Angels

The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels are in similar positions at this point in the season, which makes their upcoming four-game set particularly significant when it comes to MLB betting.

Both franchises had lofty but reasonable expectations heading into the campaign and currently sit at or near the top of their respective divisions within striking distance of a spot in the postseason this fall.

The differences between the two stem from how much confidence oddsmakers seem to have in their ability to contend for the World Series.

According to Bodog?s online sportsbook, the Detroit Tigers have 20/1 odds of winning the World Series. The Angels sit behind at 35/1 odds on the MLB futures board, despite the fact that it has been they, and not the Tigers, who have made the postseason in six of the past nine seasons.

With division races still very much up for grabs in both the AL Central and AL West, the head-to-head match ups between the two clubs will go a long in helping the victors in their individual battles with the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers.

Considering that the AL East seems a lock to claim the wildcard berth in the American League, the hunt for the Central and West for divisions will only heat up.
