NBA Odds Favor Mavs Against Former Teammate Nash

A Monday night clash in the Western Conference will pit familiar faces against each other on the NBA betting line. Not only have the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns met twice already this season, they make up a classic rivalry built on former teammates. Think you know how the latest Steve Nash-Dirk Nowitzki reunion will unfold?

It's been eight long years since Nash left run-and-gun Dallas to side with his current Suns and the success of the two franchises has ebbed and flowed. Currently it's the Mavericks, last year's champion, who sit higher up on the NBA betting line.

Though Nash's decision to depart was fueled largely by the Mavs' reluctance to pay him top dollar, the move tore apart one of the most intriguing tandems in the league. Sure the Suns have had their success - particularly in the middle of last decade - but there's no denying the lowly state of Phoenix today.

According to Bovada, the Suns have just 150/1 odds of winning the NBA championship, but they'll settle for simply making their way back into the postseason. After dropping their first two matches against Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs, they'll have to work especially hard to win this one.

Is it too late for Nash to take over a franchise and carry it into the postseason? Can he muster the strength to one-up his former squad? If only they had all stayed together we wouldn?t have to choose.
