New York Mets at San Francisco Giants- Tuesday, July 7

The New York Mets continue this week’s road series against the San
Francisco Giants this Tuesday night with Game 2 of a three-game set. BetAnySports
has listed the Mets as +130 underdogs with the MLB betting odds on the
Giants set at -140. The total for this game has been set at 7.

New York began this six-game West Coast swing by taking two out of three
from the Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend. It outscored the
Dodgers 13-5 with two of the three games going OVER the total. This
followed a three-game sweep at the hands of the Chicago Cubs at home in
which the Mets were only able to score one run in the three games
combined. New York is currently 4.5 games in back of Washington in the
NL East at 42-41, but it is just 13-27 on the road this year.

Veteran right-hander Bartolo Colon is scheduled to get the start for the
Mets on Tuesday night. He looked solid in his last start by shutting
out the Cubs through seven full innings. This was after he got rocked
for a combined 10 earned runs on 19 hits in his previous two starts. On
the year, Colon is 9-6 with a 4.55 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.

The Giants have slipped four games off the pace in the NL West after
dropping their last six contests. They were first swept by Miami on the
road before losing three-straight road games to Washington this past
weekend. This skid has left San Francisco just one game above .500 at
42-41 and it heads back to AT&T Park with a 21-20 record at home
this year. The total has gone OVER in five of its last seven home games.

Matt Cain did not make his first start of the season until last Thursday
after an extended stay on the DL. The rust was pretty evident after
Miami banged the right-hander around with five earned runs on seven hits
in just five innings of work. He also put four men on base with walks.

Colon has been hit or miss this season, but he still gives the Mets the
edge against Cain, who will probably need a few more starts to regain
his form. This matchup opens-up a golden opportunity for a play on New
York as a +123 underdog on BetAnySports’ MLB money line.
