WNBA on NBA TV: Storm and Stars in Nightcap

Seattle Storm WNBA

WNBA #1 Pick Plum back in Seattle

The San Antonio Stars and the Seattle Storm will battle on Sunday when they battle at KeyArena. The Stars will be looking for their first win of the 2017 WNBA campaign. The Storm just look for consistency.

The #1 pick in the 2017 WNBA draft, Kelsey Plum, is having a homecoming of sorts. The former University of Washington star is coming to Seattle for the first time as a pro. Plum never scored fewer than 20 points as a senior at Washington. She broke NCAA season and career scoring records by the dozens and is averaging 3.6 points and shooting 25.7 percent from the field for the Stars.

Oddsmakers opened the Storm as -9.5-point favorites versus the Stars, while the game's total opened at 161. Bettors have now bet the storm up to a 10.5-point favorite and the total has nudged up to 162.

Seattle lost its last outing, a 91-86 result against the Atlanta Dream on June 13. The Storm failed to cover in that game as a -9-point favorite, while the 177 combined points took the game OVER the total. Guard Jewell Loyd tops the Storm at 19.8 points per game. Breanna Stewart  is averaging 16.8 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds. Seattle has lost three in a row and looks to break that streak today.

The Stars were a 80-75 loser in their most recent outing on the road against the Los Angeles Sparks. They covered the +14-point spread as underdogs, while the total score (155) made winners of UNDER bettors. Guard Kayla McBride leads four Stars in double-figure scoring this season. She averages 15.8 points per game. San Antonio is committing a league-high 16.9 turnovers this season. This is leading to a league-low scoring average of 73.7 points.
