ACC Football: Louisville (17) Travels to N.C. State (24) Thursday Night

N.C. State Looks to Thursday Night ACC Football for Statement

The 17th-ranked Louisville Cardinals and the 24th-ranked N.C. State Wolfpack will battle Thursday at Carter-Finley Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPN and kickoff is set for 8 pm EST.

Oddsmakers have listed Louisville as a 3-point favorite. The total is at 66.

North Carolina State needs victories over quality programs to validate its improvement. They have another chance for that Thursday night at home against Louisville and the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner.

They have already pulled off an upset of Florida State. The first week of October shows the Wolfpack and Clemson as the only teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Atlantic Division without a loss.

N.C. State quarterback Ryan Finley hasn't thrown an interception in 192 attempts this year. He's one reason why the Wolfpack's 72.1 percent completion rate ranks seventh nationally.

N.C. State has put together one of the most best defenses in the ACC. Defensive end Bradley Chubb leads the conference with 12 tackles for loss.

Louisville Looks for Repeat Performance From Jackson

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson had a huge game against the Wolfpack last year. He had four touchdowns in the first half. This game helped fuel his Heisman Trophy candidacy.

Jackson has accounted for a school-record 92 career touchdowns. He had four in the Murray State blowout win last week. They won 55-0 and he played barely more than a half.

Louisville has won six of seven meetings with N.C. All three since joining the ACC. The Wolfpack's only victory came in the 2011 Belk Bowl.
