Astros Look to Continue Strong Start to Season



The fans at Minute Maid Park will see the Baltimore Orioles and the Houston Astros when they take their seats on Monday evening.  First pitch is set for 7:10 pm EST. ESPN will have the coverage.

The Orioles will give the ball to starter Chris Tillman in this one. Right hander Tillman is 0-0 this season with a 0.00 ERA.

It'll be Charlie Morton toeing the rubber for the Astros in this contest. Right hander Morton is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA so far this season.

Oddsmakers opened the Astros as -203-moneyline favorites versus the Orioles, while the game's total opened at 9. The line is not Houston -204 and the total is 9.5 under 115.

Astros Have Stacked Rotation



In their last action, Houston was a 8-2 winner on the road against the Texas Rangers. Bettors on Houston at -156 on the moneyline collected their winnings from that game. The total score (10) sent OVER bettors home happy as well.

The offseason acquisition of Gerrit Cole was made to strengthen an already solid Astros rotation. The goal was when they are fully healthy the team had the option of using Brad Peacock in a versatile role. They feel this is the best way to defend their 2017 MLB World Series Championship.

Cole made his Astros debut and validated the decision to go after him, at least so far. He seven solid innings in the series clincher. Cole gave up one run on two hits and three walks. Throw in 11 strikeouts, while growing stronger as his outing went.

Cole capped off a collective performance by the Houston rotation that the rest of the American League should take as a warning shot.

Cole followed Justin Verlander, Dallas Keuchel, and Lance McCullers over the weekend. That fourseme combined to rack up 24 1/3 innings while allowing just six earned runs on 17 hits and seven walks. They recorded 30 strikeouts with a 2.22 ERA.

Charlie Morton is making his season debut. Morton delivered a pair of memorable Game 7 performances during the Astros run to the title. He allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over nine innings.

Those game were against the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers in the finale of the ALCS and World Series, respectively.

Morton is 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA over two career starts against the Orioles. He did not face Baltimore last season, his first with the Astros.

Tillman Making Season Debut Against Astros



In their last action, Baltimore was a 7-0 loser on the road against the Minnesota Twins. Bettors on Minnesota at 106 on the moneyline collected their winnings from that game. The total score (7) sent UNDER bettors home happy as well.

The Orioles mustered just three hits as the 23-year-old Jose Berrios pitched his first career shutout. Berrios needed only 57 pitches in six innings and finished with six strikeouts.

Tillman is 2-3 with a 4.05 ERA over seven career starts against the Astros. He dropped an 8-4 decision last July 22 at Camden Yards. Tillman allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings.

Orioles 1B Chris Davis, who is hitting leadoff this season, went 0-for-12 in the first three games.
