Alouettes Host Blue Bombers in CFL Week 2 Action

Alouettes CFL Football

Alouettes and Bombers Looking for First Win

The fans at Percival Molson Stadium will be treated to a game between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes when they take their seats on Friday. Both teams are looking to pick up their first wins of the season.

Oddsmakers have the Blue Bombers as 3 point favorites. The total is at 47.5. Kickoff is set for 7 pm EST and will be telecast by ESPN2, TSN, and RDS.

Alouettes Looking for Any Break It Can Get

In their last action, Montreal was a 22-10 loser on the road against the Lions. They failed to cover the +8.5-point spread as underdogs, while the combined score (32) was profitable news for UNDER bettors. That makes 12 straight losses for the Alouettes.

The Alouettes need a win and need one quickly to keep a repeat of the 2017 season from happening. A 13th straight loss could be devastating to the high hopes of a new season.

T.J. Graham remains out for the Alouettes after missing the season-opener. The Als boast a deep receiving corps that could benefit from the speed of off-season addition Chris Williams. Williams fell two yards shy of a the century mark in his first game. He caught six passes for 98 yards. One play getting behind the Lions’ defense.

The Als’ O-line will have to protect Willy for the team to stretch the field. Doing so will be a test following an injury to Ruben Carter. The Als will start Sean Jamieson in his spot at right tackle. The O-line allowed five sacks last week.

Blue Bombers Look to Bounce Back After Tough Defeat

Last time out for Winnipeg, they were a 33-30 loser as they battled the Eskimos at home. The Blue Bombers covered as a +7-point underdog, while 63 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors. Last week’s weather-delayed Thunder Bowl was a tough loss to swallow.

Rookie gunslinger Chris Streveler showed legitimate play-making ability with his three TDs. He showed his inexperience as well with two INTs. Streveler overall looked capable of running an offense efficiently in place of injured starter Matt Nichols.

Streveler will make his second professional start on Friday night. Few players have spent more time at the stadium and in the film room than Streveler. He is a true rookie out of South Dakota.

The Bombers’ lineup will see some changes from Week 1. Maurice Leggett and Ian Wild both return to Winnipeg’s deep linebacker corps. Newly signed Mitchell Gale will slot in at the 3rd QB on the depth chart. National running back Kienan LaFrance slides in to back up Andrew Harris.

Leggett is easing back from injury. He has recorded 50 or more tackles in each of his four seasons as a Bomber. The dependable Wild has had two of his last three seasons derailed by injury. Gale last suited up for BC in 2017. LaFrance rushed for 273 yards and a pair of touchdowns with Saskatchewan.
