Cubs Chasing the Brewers in NL Central; Dodgers Chasing DBacks in NL West
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs kick off this week’s three-game set on Monday night. The game is slated to start at 8:05 p.m. start at Wrigley Field. BetAnySports has opened the Dodgers as -125 road favorites with the total set at 8.5.
The Dodgers saw their recent five-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday. It ended in a 4-1 loss to San Francisco as -175 home favorites. Los Angeles (37-33) is still a productive 11-3 in the month of June. They moved to just a game and a half off the pace set by Arizona in the NL West.
The Dodgers will head back on the road for its next six games at 17-14 on the road this year. The total has stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in its last four games.
Look for Kenta Maeda to get the start for the Dodgers on Monday night. The right hander gave up two earned runs on five hits in five innings against Texas at home last Wednesday.
Los Angeles has now won three of its last four games with him on the mound. Maeda is an even 4-4 on the year with a 3.61 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP.
Cubs Have Pulled Within 1/2 Game of Brewers
The Cubs are just a half game in back of Milwaukee for first place in the NL Central. They were helped by taking two of three against St. Louis at home over the weekend. They did lose Sunday’s series finale 5-0 as -118 favorites.

The Cubs are 4-2 in their last six games when Chatwood is on the mound.
Los Angeles is back to playing Dodgers’ baseball with far more wins that losses in the month of June. Behind Maeda on the mound, I like the road team’s chances to take the early lead in this series with a win on Monday night.
