Free NFL Preseason Week 2 Pick- New York Jets at Washington Redskins

Washington Redskins Football

New York Giants at Washington Redskins

The New York Jets continue their 2018 preseason schedule with a trip to FedEx Field this Thursday night to face the Washington Redskins. Game time is set for 8 p.m. on ESPN.

BetAnySports opened the Redskins as two-point favorites with the total set at 37.5. The line is now a PK and the total is up to 38.5.

New York is coming off a straight-up 5-11 campaign in 2017. The team took a small step towards turning things around in last Friday’s 17-0 shutout against Atlanta as a four-point home favorite.

The total stayed UNDER 37.5 points in that game. The Jets went 3-1 against the spread in the preseason last year. They were 8-7-1 ATS in the regular season. They did slip to 2-5-1 ATS in their eight road games in 2017.

The biggest offseason addition to New York’s roster was rookie quarterback Sam Darnold in the first round of the draft. He got his NFL career off to a solid start by completing 13 of his 18 passing attempts for 96 yards and a score.

Teddy Bridgewater threw for 85 yards and a score against the Falcons. Bridgewater is trying to earn the starting role in the Jets’ offense.

Redskins Looking to Improve Over 2017

The Redskins slipped to 7-9 (SU and ATS) in the 2017 regular season. They had a 2-2 mark (SU and ATS) in the preseason. They started this preseason with last Thursday’s 26-17 loss to New England. There were listed as 2.5-point underdogs on the road with BetAnySports.

The total went OVER the 37.5-point closing line. Washington was an even 3-3 ATS last season when it closed as a favorite. They had a 4-4 record ATS in eight home games.

Kirk Cousins moved on to Minnesota via free agency in the offseason. Head coach Jay Gruden will turn to veteran Alex Smith as his starter in the regular season.

Colt McCoy made the most of his playing time against New England. He finished with 189 yards passing and a pair of touchdown throws. He completed 13-of-18 passing attempts.

Kapri Bibbs looked sharp running the ball for Washington. He finished with 48 yards on four carries highlighted by a 41-yard gain.

Each team’s starters should get some longer playing time this Thursday night. While the OVER on BetAnySports’ total line is an attractive bet. I am going with Washington SU and ATS as my best bet.
