NFL Week 1 - Monday Night Football Doubleheader

Monday Night Football is an NFL institution all on its own. A tradition was born in 2006. The NFL schedules two Week 1 games to enjoy on Monday Night. This season we have two very interesting ones.

The opener has the Detroit Lions hosting the New York Jets. The Oakland Raiders playing host to the Los Angeles Rams in game two. Both of these offer some great betting options and story-lines to open the season.

At the time I am writing this, Jets Coach Todd Bowles has yet to name their starting quarterback. After shipping Teddy Bridgewater off to the Big Easy, the writing is on the wall. The latest news clip states Bowles saying, Sam Darnold “rarely makes the same mistake twice.”

AKA, the rookie will be the New York Jets starting QB from day one of his NFL career.

How Much Does Preseason Really Mean

I have learned not to take much from the preseason. If the preseason is any indication, the Jets offense is going to be better than most think it was going to be. This has to be good news for Jets fans, being that their defense is their strong point.

Betting Football - What’s Easiest, NFL or NCAA

I have heard very little about the Lions leading up to Week 1. That is probably a good thing in the big picture. Finishing 9-7 last season, one spot out of a playoff berth, expectations are high in Motor City this season.

Two guys on the Lions offense to watch out for are rookie RB Kerryon Johnson and 2nd year wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Although Matthew Stafford has the heart of a lion, he just hasn’t had the talent around him to take this team to the next level.

Three is certainly the magic number when looking at the record when these two meet. They have met a total of only 6 times. The straight up record is 3 and 3. The against the spread record is 3-3 and the total is 3-3.
