MLB Odds: Jays, Indians an Unexpected Matchup in ALCS - Handicappers Hideaway

2016 ALCS

Blue Jays Visit Cleveland in ALCS Opener

Few people expected to see the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cleveland
Indians face off in the American League Championship Series.  The 2016
ALCS begins on Friday in Cleveland at 8:08 PM ET.

The Blue Jays have won all four of their playoff games in 2016. They
defeated the Baltimore Orioles in the wild card game and then swept the
Texas Rangers in the Division Series. The Jays were averaging just 3.7
runs per game from September to the end of the regular season. In the
playoffs their offense has come to life. Their 22 runs scored versus
Texas were the fourth-most by a team in a sweep. They produced eight
home runs from seven different players, which tied a divisional series
record.

As for the Indians, they were equally impressive in their sweep of
the Boston Red Sox, but for different reasons. Their pitching stood out
despite the absence of injured starters Carlos Carrasco and Danny
Salazar. They also held the most productive offense in the American
League to just seven runs in three games.

The Jays and Indians teams met seven times in the regular season, and the Indians won four of the seven games.

Some Old Faces and Some New Faces Meet in Championship Series

Betting on MLB

The MLB’s Championship Series provide two very contrasting stories.
In the NL, it will again be either the St. Louis Cardinals or San
Francisco Giants winning the Pennant. This isn’t surprising as one or
the other has done so in each of the last four seasons. But over in the
AL, we have the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals hold the
top spots. The Orioles haven’t made the World Series since 1983 and the
Royals since 1985.

It’s been a while since either the Orioles or the Royals have come this
far in the postseason. The Orioles swept the Detroit Tigers and their
three aces in the Divisional Series and now stand as the World Series
favorite at 11/5. They’re also a -150 chalk to end the Royals’
Cinderella run. At 13/4, the Royals are the biggest long shots to win
the World Series, but if you believe in momentum, the Kansas City is an
intriguing betting option.

In the National League, the two most consistent franchises over the last
five years will go head-to-head this Saturday, October 11. With
home-field advantage, the Cardinals are a slight -130 favorite; the
Giants being even money. Interestingly enough, both teams are 13/5 to
win the World Series.
