UFC Betting – Silva Being Very Careful About Decision For Next UFC Fight

Betting on UFC

UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva is considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. At 37-years old, it is no surprise that he is being very careful about his decision on whom he will fight next. After setting the record for most consecutive title defenses with his 10th against Chael Sonnen, Silva had no problem sending Stephan Bonnar back in to retirement with a first-round knockout win at UFC 153 in October. Silva has been presented with several options for which who he can defend his title against next, but it could be a while longer before he makes what will be a very careful online sportsbook decision.

While he remains one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, it is reasonable to expect that Silva’s skills will decline as he continues to get older, and time will tell if and how far he will be able to extend his record title run. The UFC Middleweight champion has never been beaten in the UFC, but there are some holes in terms of the level of competition he has faced. A proposed superfight against UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre still hasn’t been booked despite years of rumors and speculation, and while Silva’s camp recently said a potential bout against GSP could be in the works, there is also the chance that UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones will want a piece of the man standing in his way in the sports betting debate on who is the best of all-time.

Whether or not Silva will give in and accept a fight against Jones is another story altogether, a tilt where the age difference could become a major online betting factor. Jones is already the youngest champion in UFC history, and at just 25-years old he is still getting better. Despite the one loss next to his name, Jones has never actually been beaten before, as that lone defeat was the result of a disqualification for the use of illegal elbows. Jones has already taken out most of what was for a while considered the deepest divisions in the UFC, and he would also have a size advantage that Silva is accustomed to holding.

The more likely option would be for Silva to fight GSP, which is something that his camp is apparently pushing for. St. Pierre has been out of the sport for over a year because of a devastating knee injury, and there will be no way to know his betting sites skill level until he makes his long-anticipated return against Carlos Condit at UFC 154 this November. With such an incredible legacy, it only makes sense that Silva will be wary of who he fights and when, and that is why he is being very careful about his decision for who his next UFC fight will be against.
