The Atlantic Division-champion Florida Panthers (47-26-9) will be on the
brink of elimination if they don't beat the New York Islanders
(45-27-10) Wednesday night. The Islanders have taken a 2-1 lead over
Florida in this Eastern Conference quarterfinal, winning Game 1 as +140
road dogs and Game 3 as –115 home favourites. Game 4 at Barclays Center
starts at 7 PM ET. Oddsmakers have the Islanders as -110 favorites while
the total is at 5.

Even though New York has the advantage, this has been a very close
matchup, with each team scoring 10 goals after three games. That's still
an impressive performance by the Islanders; they were the underdogs
going into the first round, posting a decent plus-16 goal differential
during the regular season compared to Florida's plus-36. The Panthers
won their season series 2-1, outscoring New York 10-6.

The Islanders have also done very well considering they don't have
forwards Anders Lee (15 goals, 36 points) and Mikhail Grabovski (nine
goals, 25 points) available for the first round. Lee suffered a broken
left leg earlier this month, while Grabovski is out indefinitely with
concussion-like symptoms. Meanwhile, Panthers centre Vincent Trocheck
(25 goals, 53 points) could return from his broken foot in either Game 4
or Game 5.

NHL Preview: Ottawa Senators (1-1) vs. Florida Panthers (0-1-1)

Betting on Florida Panther Hockey
If familiarity breeds contempt, there should be animosity aplenty on
Monday when the Ottawa Senators and the Florida Panthers meet at
BB&T Center.

Oddsmakers currently have the Senators listed as 115-moneyline
favorites versus the Panthers, while the game’s total is sitting at 5½.

In their last action, Ottawa was a 3-2 winner on the road against the
Lightning. Bettors on Ottawa at +168 on the moneyline collected their
winnings from that game, while the total score (5) sent UNDER bettors
home happy as well.

Caps Vs Cats: Atlantic Division Contenders Clash on NHL Betting Line

A neck and neck race for the Southeast Division lead will heat up on Tuesday as the upstart Florida Panthers hope to defend a narrow lead over a Washington Capitals team slowly reestablishing itself as a force on the NHL betting line.

Can the Panthers hang on to their spot among the Eastern Conference's playoff pack? As things stand right now, the winner of the division will lay claim to the No. 3 seed in the bracket. Nobody else, however, is on pace to qualify for the top eight.

The depth of the rest of the conference makes the early week bout between two division rivals in the Southeast all the more important. Although the Panthers remain on the NHL futures list with 30/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup, they?ll have their work cut out for them against the Capitals whose reputation as a legitimate contender overshadows any recent misfortune.

With 18/1 odds on the NHL betting line, the Capitals are a threat in the eyes of hockey odds makers. So long as Alex Ovechkin is healthy and in uniform, there?s no real surprise why.

If the Panthers are to cling desperately to their first playoff berth since 2000, they'll need to come up big against their rivals because things stand, anything less than a division championship might not be enough.
