Wizards Lead Evenly Matched Southeast Division Race

Wagering on Wizards NBA Basketball

The NBA’s Southeast Division is filled with teams in transition, so
it’s the hardest to predict heading into 2014-2015. Though the early
favorite is last year’s surprise playoff contender, the Washington
Wizards, four of the five clubs are legitimate NBA betting options.

The Wizards rode the evolution of John Wall to a postseason
appearance last spring. This year, the club will have one more year of
experience. As Wall establishes himself as a league superstar, teammates
like Bradley Beal and Paul Pierce should help Washington contend for a
top spot in the Eastern Conference picture. The Wizards are +125 to win
their division and 14/1 to win their conference.

The Miami Heat is still a threat despite losing LeBron James. Chris
Bosh and Dwyane Wade were superstars before the Big Three. Vital players
like Luol Deng and Josh McRoberts will join them in South Beach. The
Heat is +200 to win the southeast.

The upcoming season also marks an opportunity for the Charlotte
Hornets. Having already slowly built themselves into a playoff team,
Charlotte will take the next step in their natural progression. The
Hornets are +400 to win the division, and they’re a formidable threat
with Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker leading the show.

The Southeast Division may not boast a short list league favorite
like the Cleveland Cavaliers or San Antonio Spurs, but they have depth.

NBA Odds: Wizards Quite Capable of Challenging the Eastern Conference

Wagering on Wizards NBA Basketball

The NBA’s Eastern Conference has always been tough to
gauge, and this year it’s as unpredictable as ever. LeBron James and the
new-look Cleveland Cavaliers will need some time to gel in northeast
Ohio, leaving plenty of opportunities for high-ranking playoff-bound
opponents.

It’s important to note that the Cavs lead all teams on
the NBA futures. They are 5/2 to win the NBA Championship. The Chicago
Bulls trail them in the east with 11/2 odds. Aside from those two
squads, however, the entire conference is up in the air.
Last year we saw John Wall take the Washington Wizards
to new heights. Wall averaged 19.3 points and 8.8 assists per game last
season. The Wizards were 43-38-1 against the spread in 2013-2014. Now
veteran forward Paul Pierce has been added to the squad in time for the
2014-2015 season. Washington may only be 33/1 to win a title this year,
but they’re the third highest team in the sportsbook for their
conference.
The Raptors (50/1) will return the same core squad that
powered the club to a surprising postseason appearance. The Heat (40/1)
will see Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade reassume their roles as the
superstars they were prior to James’ arrival in South Beach.
