NFL Week 2

NFL Week 2 kicks-off in a matter of hours as the Jets (pk) visit
their AFC rival – the Bills. When the odds opened last Sunday, the Bills
were field goal favorites. By Monday, the game was down to a pick ‘em;
thanks to early sharp coin on the Jets (never miss the extra value of
our early openers). The BetOnline.ag public will also be rooting for the Jets tonight; only about 30% of the tickets are on the Bills.*

The Sunday night game looks like it’s going to be a sweat as well.
The Packers are currently 2.5-point road favorites at the Vikings. With
three days of action yet to come in, 73% of the early coin is on the
Packers at BetOnline.ag.

After a ho-hum schedule last weekend, this Saturday’s college football betting board is engorged with must-bet games, including:

No. 2 Florida State (-2.5) vs. No. 10 Louisville

No. 1 Alabama (-10) vs. No. 19 Ole Miss

No. 12 Michigan State (+7.5) vs. No. 18 Notre Dame

No. 3 Ohio State (-1.5) vs. No. 14 Oklahoma

Last Sunday afternoon when these numbers opened before every other
book, Florida State actually opened a one-point dog. They quickly shot
up to 4.5-point favorites. In other words, never miss out on the earliest college football openers on the planet every Sunday afternoon.

Lastly, a special shout-out to last week’s BetSet Bankroll winner –
Ronnie Q. Although his $100,000 Panthers (-2.5) bet didn’t cash, kudos
to him for getting the best number.

Ronnie was still positive after the game (hopefully he hedged):

NFL Preview: New York Jets (2-8) vs. Buffalo Bills (5-5)

BetAnySports’ NFL Pick of the Week- Week 7: New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Thursday, Oct. 16

Betting on Patriots NFL Football

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Thursday, Oct. 16

Current BAS’ Line: Patriots are -9 1/2 and the total is sitting at 44 1/2.

The New York Jets will try and get their season back on track with a
visit to Foxborough to square-off against the bitter AFC East rival New
England Patriots, who are suddenly riding a two-game winning streak into
Thursday night’s game. BetAnySports has opened New England as a healthy 10.5-point home favorite for this prime-time clash with the total set at 46.5.

The Jets are in desperate need of a win to keep their season from
completely spiraling out of control after their current straight-up
losing streak reached five games with last Sunday’s 31-17 loss to Denver
as 9.5-point home underdogs. New York is now 0-5-1 against the spread
this season with the total going OVER in three of their last five games.

It has been a rocky start for second-year quarterback Geno Smith and a
Jets’ offense that is ranked 30th in the NFL in scoring with an average
of 16 points a game. They are also ranked 30th in yards per game and
the only bright spot so far has been a ground game that is averaging
121.2 yards per game. Things are not much better on the other side of
the ball with a defense that 25th in the league in points allowed
(26.3).

The Patriots’ bandwagon is close to standing room only again after
winning their last two games against Cincinnati and Buffalo by a
combined score of 80-39. They covered the spread in both of those
contests to improve to 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS overall. The total has now
gone OVER in their last three games.

Patience and time was all that was needed to get New England’s much
maligned offense back to form considering that you are dealing with a
team that has won 10 or more games in each of its last 11 seasons. Tom
Brady has returned to form throwing the ball and the Patriots’ defense
is now ranked 11th in the NFL in points allowed (21.5) and fifth in
yards allowed (319.5), which is a complete reversal of this team’s
fortunes in a 2-2 SU start.

The Jets are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 road games against New England
despite the fact that they are 1-5 SU in the last six meetings. Given
both team’s current form, it is going to be really hard for New York to
cover this time around even with a very generous 10.5-point spread on
BetAnySports’ current NFL betting odds. Bottom line; take the home team
and lay the points in this AFC East tilt.

NFL Betting Preview - Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets

Point spread: New York -4

Over/Under: 40.5

The Dallas Cowboys will look to start this season on a winning note when they take on the New York Jets on Sunday night at the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey. The game is slated to start at 8:20 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on NBC.

Last season did not go anywhere near as planned for Dallas after a 1-6 start completely derailed this team. Jason Garrett was promoted to head coach and helped corral the Cowboys to a 6-10 finish. Heading into this season, he is confident this team has what it takes to return to the top of the NFC East.

Having Tony Romo back as his starting quarterback will definitely help after he missed the final 10 games of the year with a broken collar bone. Also back is wide receiver Dez Bryant, who went down with a broken ankle in early November. Throw in Miles Austin and Jason Witten in the passing game and Felix Jones and Tashard Choice running the ball and this team should be able to put some points on the board.

New York, under head coach Rex Ryan, have been all about creating a solid rushing attack and a shutdown defense. This has gotten the Jets to two straight AFC Championship games, but they will need better production from third-year quarterback Mark Sanchez in order to take the next step. He has managed the game well, but has yet to show the ability to put this team on his back and carry it to a championship.

The first step would be to improve upon a 54.8 completion percentage that is just not getting the job done. Fortunately, Sanchez will have wide receiver Santonio Holmes back as well as Plaxico Burress to try and improve these numbers. The Jets also have that running game to fall back on, led by Shonn Greene and rookie Bilal Powell.

Dallas is 5-0 against the spread in its last five games as an underdog and the total has gone ?over? in six of its last seven games as a dog.

New York is 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games as a favorite of 3.5 points or more. The total has gone ?over? in seven of its last 10 games as a favorite.

Romo could struggle in his first game back after the long layoff, but the Cowboys keep things close enough to cover the four points in a game that stays ?under? the total.

The Pick: New York 17 Dallas 16

The Steelers were a 31-24 winner in their most recent outing at home against the Ravens. They covered the 3.5?point spread as favorites, while the total score (55) made winners of OVER bettors.

Situation Favorable for Steelers in AFC Championship Game

By Joe Gavazzi, Winning Sports Advice

When the line maker installed the Steelers as 3-point favorite over the Jets in their Sunday clash at 6:30 pm, he may not have fully incorporated the situational advantage the Steelers have in this game. It?s true that each of these opponents is coming off huge emotional wins against division rivals to get to this game. But if the Jets are to play to their potential, they will have to overcome a serious negative scheduling scenario. This will be the fifth game in 6 weeks on the road for the Jets and the third straight playoff game. They are coming off consecutive underdog wins over Indy and New England. No other NFL team has ever defeated the Colts and the Patriots in consecutive weeks. While the Jets have been going through this emotional meat grinder for several weeks, the Steelers had the benefit of a pair of easy victories to close the season in defeating Carolina and Cleveland 68-12. With plenty left in their emotional tank following a week of rest, they were well situated for their second-half comeback against the Ravens. The nature of that second-half comeback will provide full momentum as the Steelers play consecutive home games. Cannot dismiss the fact that the Steelers retain full focused in light of their 22-17 loss to the Jets December 19th on this field as a 6-point favorite. When we do our final late week analysis of this contest, including our statistical review, we will clearly incorporate this positive situational edge the Steelers have entering this contest. Check back Thursday at 3:00 pm EST for our definitive opinion on this game, remembering we have won 6 consecutive NFL playoff games.
