NHL Odds: Lightning Toast Rangers, Take Home-Ice Advantage - Handicappers Hideaway

NHL Odds: Lightning Toast Rangers, Take Home-Ice Advantage

The floodgates finally opened on the New York Rangers. After 13
straight playoff games decided by one goal, the Rangers were pummeled
6-2 by the Tampa Bay Lightning (+125 away) on Monday, evening their
Eastern Conference final at one game apiece. Tampa Bay now takes
home-ice advantage into Wednesday’s Game 3 (8:00 PM ET, CBC) at the Ice
Palace.

The Lightning managed to do what no team had done since early October:
score six times on Henrik Lundqvist. The former Vezina winner had a
.945 save percentage in these playoffs before getting lit up on Monday.
Meanwhile, it was business as usual at the other end, as the Rangers
scored exactly two goals for the eighth time in their 14 postseason
games.

A meltdown like this was bound to happen at some point. Tampa Bay led
the league in scoring during the regular season at 3.16 goals per game.
Given how the Rangers have struggled to score in these playoffs, and
given how well Ben Bishop (.931 save percentage) has played thus far,
three goals might be all it takes for the Bolts to win Wednesday’s game
and take a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 also at home.

NHL Odds: Re-tooled Rangers Ride into Washington - Handicappers Hideaway

After going without the Stanley Cup for 20 seasons, the New York
Rangers weren’t about to stand back at this year’s trade deadline. The
Rangers will bring their bolstered lineup to DC Wednesday night (8:00 PM
ET, NBCSN) to face the Washington Capitals, who’ve done a little
spring cleaning of their own.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a 100% welcome bonus.

New York (40-17-2-5, 34-30 ATS for plus-11.33 units) went all-in for the
playoffs by sending a healthy package of draft picks and prospects to
the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for defenseman Keith Yandle (four
goals, 37 assists). Yandle should help improve the Rangers’ defensive
power play, which ranks No. 9 in the league at 83% as we go to press.

Washington (36-21-6-4, 32-35 ATS for plus-7.36 units) made a couple of
smaller moves, adding defenseman Tim Gleason and left winger Curtis
Glencross. But the Caps should have the advantage in this matchup; the
Rangers will get no rest after visiting the New York Islanders Tuesday
night. The Blueshirts are also still without starting goaltender Henrik
Lundqvist (.922 save percentage) because of a strained neck, although
Cam Talbot (.921 SV%) has played well in reserve.

NHL Odds: Rangers, Flyers Touch Gloves at MSG

Betting on NY Rangers Hockey
It’s been 40 years since the Philadelphia Flyers were put in the old
Patrick Division with the New York Rangers. They’ve been at each other’s
throats ever since, and they’ll be at it again this week on Wednesday
Night Rivalry (8:00 PM ET, NBCSN).

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

The last time we saw these two teams hook up was in the Eastern
Conference quarterfinals, which the Rangers (7-7-4, minus-5.61 units)
won 4-3 en route to the NHL finals. Madison Square Garden should play a
vital role this week; the Flyers (7-7-2, plus-3.82 units) are 2-5 on the
road thus far, and they’re 1-11 in their last dozen games at MSG.

Philadelphia also might not have its captain and best player on the
ice. Claude Giroux (five goals, 16 assists in 21 games) was held out of
Tuesday’s practice after undergoing a medical evaluation on Monday. The
Flyers say it’s just a “maintenance day,” but we’ll see. Defenseman Luke
Schenn (shoulder) is also a question mark to return to Philly’s
injury-riddled blueline. The Rangers have dropped five of their last
six, but the odds should be tilted in their favor this week.

Questions Surround Pittsburgh While Rangers Lead NHL Odds

Can the Pittsburgh Penguins take a round out of the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers this week? We'll find out on Tuesday when the two Atlantic Division juggernauts clash on the NHL betting line.

NHL odds and props at Bovada.

Don't have an account? Join now.

Although the Rangers may hold the advantage both in the division and on the NHL futures board, there's a reason the Penguins - regardless of where they may sit in the conference - are widely considered a perennial threat.

Would a Sidney Crosby return down the stretch give the Pens the advantage they need to cash in on the NHL odds that give them a 12/1 shot at winning the title? The Rangers, in contrast, lead the entire league with 11/2 odds on that same Stanley Cup futures line.

Although there's no word on when Sid the Kid might make his return to the ice in Pittsburgh, NHL odds makers haven't ignored the fact that the man has been skating consistently since last month. Is a symptom-free Crosby imminent?

Even with their All-Star center, however, the Penguins have a long way to go before they're the talk of the conference. Led by goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, the Rangers have legitimately emerged as the team to beat in the East.

Is New York simply due for a deep playoff run? Weigh in on the NHL odds line today.

NHL Odds: East Contenders Clash as Bruins Host Rangers

The Boston Bruins will host the New York Rangers this Saturday, giving fans of the NHL betting board an opportunity to play a pair of Original Six teams in a midseason matinee. As the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Bruins are a fitting matchup against the Eastern Conference-leading Blue Shirts.

Get your NHL odds for this matchup at Bovada.

Think you know how it will all unfold? Not so fast. Although the Bruins sit a step back of the Rangers in the standings (if you could even call it that), they have the advantage in the minds of NHL odds makers.

According to Bovada the Bruins have 11/2 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. The Rangers, as dominant as they've been, sit tied for third place on that same list with 9/1.

Expect big things out of both clubs as they jockey for position in not only their divisions (they each lead), but for the conference. Though it looks as though they won?t be challenged by a Southeast Division foe for playoff seeding, every game counts in terms of securing the all-treasured No. 1 seed.

Is Boston's reign at the top coming to an end this season? Or will Brad Richards and the Rangers have to wait at least one more year before taking over the conference.
