Tennis Odds: Djokovic Fends Off Dark Horse Challengers in Final Rounds of US Open

Betting on US Open Tennis

The absence of several short-list favorites has made the final rounds
of the US Open all the more intriguing. Now with the final grand slam
of the season nearing an end, the tennis betting community is charged
with the task of predicting the best of the rest.

Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro have both been absent from the
tournament, and Martin de Potro is the only non-Big Four individual to
win a grand slam between 2005 and 2013.By default, Novak Djokovic became
the No. 1 seed; although, the Serb is a perennial favorite regardless
of Nadal being in competition or not.The shaken up tournament has
created opportunities for individuals like Roger Federer and Stanislas
Wawrinka. One a legend of the sport who hasn’t won a grand slam title
since 2012 and the other a fringe contender that won his first back at
the Australian Open in January.

Through the first rounds of the tournament in New York, both Federer
and Wawrinka have navigated the bracket unscathed, the former having
lost but one single set. Over the course of the weekend, they’ll duke it
out with each other and Djokovic for the tournament’s top honors.

Djokovic is 1/1 to win the US Open, and Federer follows suit with
2/1. Other contenders like Wawrinka (12/1) and Andy Murray (6/1) can be
found further down the tennis futures.

Tennis Odds: Nadal Departure Puts Federer in Promising Position

Betting on US Open Tennis

The recently announced withdrawal of Rafael Nadal from this year’s US
Open has sent the tennis betting community into a tailspin. Suddenly,
the possibilities of how it might unfold have opened up. Benefitting
most from the news is Roger Federer; the 33-year-old is 3/1 to win the
event.

Federer hasn’t won a US Open since 2007. He has had a string of elite
performances throughout the summer and has an opportunity to snap the
skid.

The revelation that Federer won’t have to face Nadal en route to a US
Open championship comes as a great relief. Federer has had little
success against Nadal.

The removal of Nadal from the tournament draw also shifts Novak
Djokovic to the No. 1 spot and out of Federer’s path until the finals.
There’s a good chance that both will meet then, but that could give the
Swiss vet ample opportunity to build momentum. Djokovic remains the US
Open favorite (6/5).

Federer hasn’t won a grand slam title since 2012, but he has played
well in tournaments all year long. In August alone he finished second at
the Rogers Cup and first at the Cincinnati Open. It’s hard, therefore,
to figure out exactly what Federer’s value might be heading forward.

With Nadal temporarily out of the picture, we’ll soon find out.

Tennis Betting: Action-Packed August Heats Up at Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati

W&S Cincinnati Open Betting

August brings along a surplus of tennis betting action. This weekend,
in the days after the crowning of the Rogers Cup champion and with the
US Open on the horizon, the tennis betting community will hope to
capture the excitement of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.

The tournament will come to a head on Sunday and will feature many of
the game’s most formidable stars. Individuals like Novak Djokovic
(ranked No. 1 in the world with 4 singles titles in 2014) and Roger
Federer (ranked No. 3 with 2 singles titles) lead the way in the
sportsbook as household names capable of great things.

Still, despite being popular tennis betting options, they’re not the only names worth keeping tabs on heading forward.

Youngsters Milos Raonic (12/1 to win Cincinnati Open) and Grigor
Dimitrov (14/1 to win) represent a new generation of tennis contenders.
They are a class of foes that may one day rival the likes of Djokovic
and Rafael Nadal (not present this week).

See the game at its finest during one of the busiest months on the
tennis calendar. There may be new faces emerging among the sport’s
elite, but it’s still the same sport we all know and love.
