A new season of college football on ESPN opens this week with a SEC
clash this Thursday night between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the
Vanderbilt Commodores in a 8 p.m. (ET) start at Vanderbilt Stadium. BetAnySports has opened the Commodores as 3.5-point home favorites with the betting line for the total set at 42.5.

South Carolina is coming off a tough year in SEC play with a straight-up
1-7 mark. Its lone conference win of the season came against Vanderbilt
in a 19-10 victory in mid-October as a slight 1.5-point home favorite.
The total stayed well UNDER BetAnySports’ closing 45.5-point line and it
stayed UNDER in four of the Gamecocks last six games.

New head coach Will Muschamp will have the tall task of turning around an offense that sunk to 110th in the nation in scoring with 22.3 points per game. His defense was not all that much better at 72nd
in average points allowed (27.5). The quarterback position remains up
in the air for 2016, but it looks like Perry Orth should get the
starting nod on Thursday night.

The Commodores were not much better in the SEC last season at 2-6 SU and
the total stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in 11 of their 12 games
overall. They failed to cover against the spread on BetAnySports’ closing betting line in three of their final five games in 2015. Overall, Vanderbilt went 4-8 SU with a 6-5-1 record ATS.

Head coach Derek Mason will go with Kyle Shurmur as his starting
quarterback for the season opener after he started five of the team’s
final six games in 2015. This unit has nowhere to go but up after
averaging a dismal 18.4 points a game last year. Fortunately, Vanderbilt
does have eight starters returning to a defense that was ranked 22nd in the nation last year in points allowed (21.0).

It is hard to know what to expect from these two teams on Thursday
night, but I do think we will see a tight battle that keeps the scoring
to minimum on both sides of the scoreboard. Stick with the UNDER 42.5
points at BetAnySports as the top play in this conference clash.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL LIFTOFF

IT….IS….FINALLY….HERE. The three words we have been waiting for
seemingly forever are just a few days away. Football…Is…..Back!! LET’S
GET RIGHT AT IT AS I LOOK AT THREE BIG Thursday MATCH-UPS AS WE LIFTOFF
WHAT SHOULD BE ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING YEARS OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL IN
RECENT MEMORY.

Thursday Sept 3rd NORTH CAROLINA V SOUTH CAROLINA 6pm EST

Neutral Site- bank of America stadium, charlotte, North Carolina

Current line – South Carolina – 2

The Tar Heels seem like they are on the upswing, but go against good ole
Steve Spurrier in first FBS football game of the year. This is a huge
opening game for both in terms of setting a tone of the season. the
Cocks are a slight fave, but with UNC’s improved offense they are a live
play in this game and if USC opens with a loss to their interstate
rival, there could be some chaos at the start of this season. UNC’s star
QB marquise Williams will have a lot to say in how this game goes and
while the Gamecocks should be strong on defense, most of the rest of
their team is in full rebuild mode after last year. This is going to be a
fun game to watch with a ton of back and forth and in the end look for
UNC to put their stamp on an early season statement.

PREDICTION- (Based on 1-10 College Football is back inflatable wacky waving guy scale) 6 Inflatable Wacky Waving guys on UNC +2

Thursday Sept 3rd TCU AT MINNESOTA 9pm EST

TCF BANK STADIUM, MINNEAPOLIS

Current line – TCU -14

Talk about a doozy of a home opener for a Big 10 team with visions of
making a New years day bowl game this season. The Gophers welcome in the
#2 team in all the land with in my eyes the Heisman fave in QB Trevone
Boykin. While I think Minny will have a solid season in their conference
, maybe even with stunning upset or two. Opening night will not go well
for Coach Kill and company. This game could be over before halftime
with just how dynamic the Horned Frogs are on both sides of the ball.

PREDICTION- (Based on 1-10 College Football is back inflatable wacky waving guy scale) 8 Inflatable Wacky Waving guys on TCU -14

Thursday Sept 3rd MICHIGAN AT UTAH 8:30 pm EST

Rice-Eccles Stadium. Salt Lake City, Utah

Current line – Utah -5.5

Memories of the 16 point beatdown last year at Michigan Stadium by the
Utes….. gone!……..Fred Flintstone as head coach in Ann
Arbor…..gone!…..All that was wrong with the world cause Michigan
Football simply blew….GONE! The reason is simple, cause football Jesus
in the shape of a khaki pants wearing, shirtless former hero has come
back to the town where he made so many memories. JIM HARBAUGH IS BACK ,
and all is right with the world:) Now he hasn’t coach one down or won
one game as the Wolverines head coach, but the anticipation and
excitement level in Ann Arbaugh has been simply out of control since he
was name the HC. This is one of the most opening games in 50 years for
Michigan football and they do it on the road against a team that is well
coached by Kyle Whittingham and ha s a QB in Travis Wilson that was
lights out last year, but also struggled mightily in some contents.
While this game might start out close in the end all the questions
Michigan had coming in will be answered and in one of the games that
defines an era, Michigan will sneak out of the Utah Mountains with not
only a big upset win, but a truly convincing one to start off the Jim
Harbuagh era in a massive way.

PREDICTION- (Based on 1-10 College Football is back inflatable wacky
waving guy scale) 10 Inflatable Wacky Waving guys on MICHIGAN ( AN EARLY
SEASON 10 POINT PLAY- DONT WANT TO SNOOZE ON THIS ONE)

North Carolina (0-0) vs. No. 6 South Carolina (0-0) Preview

North Carolina and South Carolina open up the college football season under the lights in Columbia tomorrow night on ESPN. South Carolina is at an all-time high in the preseason polls because of junior defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, one of the premier players in the country who was voted the nation's top defensive end last season and finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy balloting. The Gamecocks also return starting quarterback Connor Shaw, who has never lost at home as a starter.

One of Shaw's top targets will be junior wide receiver Bruce Ellington, who's also the starting point guard for South Carolina's basketball team. We can expect tight end Rory Anderson to get plenty of looks over the middle, as he's averaged 20.9 yards a catch during his first two seasons with the team. South Carolina did lose five senior linebackers to graduation but they feature an experienced returning secondary.

North Carolina also returns a talented quarterback in senior Bryn Renner, who has thrown for more than 3,000 yards each of the last two seasons. Renner' main target, wide receiver Quinshad Davis is also back. The South Carolina native who set freshman school records last season for receptions (61) and receiving yardage (776). 6-7, 305-pound left tackle James Hurst will protect Renner's blind side and redshirt freshman Jon Heck will start at right tackle. Hurst and Heck will be tested all night against Jadeveon Clowney, who recorded 13 sacks last season.

The Tar Heels look to bounce back from a down year defensively, as they were ranked 10th out of 12 teams in the ACC after allowing 32.9 points per game during conference play. Seven starters will return, including defensive end Kareem Martin, a second team all-conference selection last season. South Carolina is the highest-ranked opponent that North Carolina has faced since 2005.

This is a highly anticipated game because both teams have a lot of potential. The Gamecocks are considered one of the best teams in the country but the Tar Heels have an experienced quarterback in Bryn Renner and enough talent to hang around, even if the game is on the road. If Jadeveon Clowney is able to get in the North Carolina backfield, South Carolina will have no trouble winning this game, if not, will be closer than many expect.
