CFL Betting Board Heats Up As Eskimos Face Alouettes

The Edmonton Eskimos may have had their undefeated record soiled last week against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but that doesn?t mean they?re no longer a legitimate option when it comes to CFL betting.

This Thursday the Eskimos will head to Montreal to face another East Division juggernaut, the two-time reigning champion Alouettes. Can they bounce back in time to reclaim the momentum lost in Week 6?

Bet on the CFL now.

According to Bodog?s online sportsbook, the Eskimos have 4/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup. Though football fans will knock them slightly for falling to Winnipeg, they remain one of the toughest teams in the CFL behind the resurgence of quarterback Ricky Ray.

In Montreal, the last three weeks haven?t gone as smoothly. Though 4-2 now, the Als started to show cracks in Weeks 4 and 5, dropping a pair of matches to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Is this the end of the road for veteran QB Anthony Calvillo? If Week 6 is any indication, not quite. A 36-23 victory over the lowly Toronto Argonauts may be all the Alouettes need to get back on track in their pursuit of a three-peat.

Might this Week 7 tilt be a preview of the Grey Cup?

Alouettes Host Roughriders in Rematch of Grey Cup

After facing each other in both of the last two Grey Cups, the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders renew rivalries Sunday at the Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.

This game sets up to be a bit different from the previous championship games as the Roughriders have fallen to 0-3 to start the CFL season while the Als are a perfect 3-0. The two played in Week 2 with Montreal taking the victory.

Saskatchewan has hardly made it difficult for their opponents, not coming closer than 14 points in any of their losses. The Roughriders have 15/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup.

Montreal, on the other hand, has gotten better each game. Last Friday Anthony Calvillo became the CFL?s all-time touchdown pass leader, connecting with Eric Deslauriers in the end zone for his 395th career touchdown pass, toppling Damon Allen?s record. Calvillo added another one before the night was done. The Alouettes CFL futures give them 3/2 odds of winning the Grey Cup.

It won?t be that easy for Montreal though. Roughrider linebacker Sean Lucas is second in the league in tackles going into Week 4 while on the offensive side, Wes Cates is fifth in the league with 148 rushing yards, and against Hamilton last weekend, wide receiver Efrem Hill and slot-back Chris Getzlaf combined for 137 yards on seven receptions.

CFL Betting Game of the Week Features Rematch of 2010 Grey Cup

CFL Betting Game of the Week Features Rematch of 2010 Grey Cup

In a rematch of last year's Grey Cup, the Saskatchewan Roughriders will host the Montreal Alouettes this Saturday, looking to avenge the narrow lost that cost the western franchise its second title in four years.

One of the major questions in the eyes of fans betting on the CFL this year is whether the Roughriders will be able to put together a 2011 campaign like the one they enjoyed last season. According to Bodog's online sportsbook, such a feat may be easier said than done.

With 8/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup in 2011 (in just an eight-team league), Roughriders fans aren't exactly brimming with confidence - especially when the reigning champions stroll in to town fresh off an opening week victory over the B.C. Lions.

With 9/4 odds of taking the 2011 crown (which would be their third straight), the Alouettes are the favorites in the league, trailed by the Calgary Stampeders in the west. Will a victory over Saskatchewan be enough to get the ball rolling in Anthony Calvillo's quest for a threepeat?

Though hard to come by, a Saskatchewan victory here in Week 2 could breath new life into the franchise and its fan base. They're far from a safe bet in the CFL, but an intriguing one nonetheless.
