NFL Preseason Week 3 Preview & Free Pick- Atlanta at Miami - Handicappers Hideaway

In a nationally broadcast matchup on NBC this Thursday night, the
Atlanta Falcons will go on the road to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 3
of NFL preseason. BetAnySports has opened the Dolphins as 2.5-point home favorites and the betting line for the total has been set at 43.5.

The Falcons come into this game with a perfect 2-0 record in the
preseason both straight-up and against the spread. They started things
off with a 23-17 victory against Washington as three-point home
favorites and last Thursday they beat Cleveland 24-13 as one-point
underdogs on the road. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing
37-point line against the Redskins and its stayed UNDER 38.5 points
against the Browns.

Matt Ryan has been limited to just six completions for 78 yards on 15
passes in his first two preseason games, but it what will be the closest
thing to an actual game-like situation, he should see at least one half
of playing time this Thursday night. We should also get a good look at
Devonte Freeman running the ball after leading the team with 1,056
rushing yards on 265 carries in the 2015 regular season.

Miami has faced a pair of NFC East teams in its first two preseason
games starting with a 27-10 victory over the New York Giants in Week 1
as a one-point road underdog. This past Friday, the Dolphins lost to
Dallas 41-14 on the road in a game that closed as a PICK with
BetAnySports. The total ended as a PUSH in the game against New York and
it went well OVER the 41-point line against the Cowboys.

When fifth-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill was under center for Miami in
last week’s game he was able to move the ball down the field against
Dallas through the air. He put the ball up 20 times in that game and
completed 12 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs
Isaiah Pead and Daniel Thomas combined for 78 yards on 11 carries and
Kenny Stills was the team’s leading receiver with three receptions for
71 yards and two scores. Running back Arian Foster is also part of the
mix on Miami’s offense and he should see some additional playing time in
this game.

Both team’s starters should remain in the game into the second half
giving the slight edge to Atlanta as the better overall ball club right
now. I will take the Falcons and the 2.5 points on BetAnySports’ betting line for this game as my “best bet” pick.

NFL Preseason Pick of the Week: Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars - Friday, Aug. 28 - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on Jaguars Football

NFL Preseason Pick of the Week: Detroit Lions vs. Jacksonville Jaguars – Friday, Aug. 28

Current BetAnySports Line: Jaguars -2 and the total is sitting at 39 1/2

The Detroit Lions and the Jacksonville Jaguars kick-off Week 3 of the
NFL preseason this Friday night at EverBank Field in an 8 p.m. (ET)
start that will be broadcast nationally on CBS. Both teams come into
this game with a 1-1 record in the preseason both straight-up and
against the spread. BetAnySports has listed Jacksonville as a slight
one-point home favorite and the betting odds for the total have been set
at 42.5.

The Lions followed-up their 23-2 victory over the New York Jets as
four-point home favorites in Week 1 with a 21-17 loss to Washington this
past week as three-point road underdogs. The total stayed UNDER
BetAnySports’ closing line in each game. Over the first two games
starting quarterback Matthew Stafford has looked sharp in limited action
with 135 yards passing and one score while completing eight of 10
throws. Look for him to possibly play into the second half in Friday
night’s contest.

Detroit’s offense as a whole this preseason has averaged 215 yards
passing and another 119.5 yards a game on the ground. Zach Zenner leads
the team in rushing with 77 yards on 17 carries, but most of the
attention has focused on second-round pick Ameer Abdullah with 74 yards
rushing on just nine attempts for an average of 8.2 yards a run.

Jacksonville’s 1-1 start consists of a 23-21 victory against Pittsburgh
in Week 1 as slight one-point home favorites followed by last Friday’s
22-12 loss to the New York Giants as a 3.5-point underdog on the road.
The total went OVER the 37-point line against the Steelers and it stayed
UNDER the 40.5-point line against New York.

The expectation level for Blake Bortles remains high coming into his
second year as the Jaguars’ starting quarterback. Through limited
playing time in the first two games he has completed 19-of-31 attempts
for 216 yards. Jacksonville’s offense has struggled to move the ball
both through the air and on the ground with an average of 284.5 yards in
two games. Against the Giants, it only managed to gain 60 yards
rushing.

Both team’s starters should play well into the second half on Friday
night which clearly gives the edge in this matchup to Detroit. Last
season the Lions beat Jacksonville 13-12 in Week 3 of the preseason as
three-point favorites at home. This time around look for Detroit to win
SU by a much wider margin.

NFL Preseason Pick of the Week : New Orleans Saints at Baltimore Ravens- Thursday, Aug. 13 - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on Ravens NFL Football

BetAnySports’ NFL Preseason Pick of the Week

New Orleans Saints at Baltimore Ravens- Thursday, Aug. 13

The New Orleans Saints will return to action in preseason football this
Thursday night with a trip to M&T Bank Stadium to face the Baltimore
Ravens. BetAnySports
listed the opening number on the Ravens as three-point home favorites
with the total set at 37.5.  The current line is now Baltimore as a 2
1/2-point favorite and the total now is sitting at 38.

This will be the third meeting between these two teams in the last two
years after they faced one another both in the preseason and regular
season in 2014. The Ravens came out on top both times starting with a
22-13 victory in late August as three-point road underdogs. The total
stayed UNDER the closing 41.5-point line. They went on to beat the
Saints again 34-27 as 2.5-point underdogs on the road. The total went
OVER BetAnySports’ closing 50.5-point line in that game.

The Saints went 7-9 straight-up last season to finish second in the NFC
South. It was just the second time in the last six seasons that New
Orleans failed to make it into the postseason. With Drew Brees at the
helm as quarterback, the offense put up some big numbers in 2014. This
unit led the NFL in both total yards and passing yards and it was ranked
ninth in scoring with an average of 25.1 points a game. The stats on
the other side of the ball were a whole other story with New Orleans
ranked 31st in the league in total yards allowed. This unit gave-up an
average of 26.5 points a game.

The Ravens’ SU 10-6 record last year was good enough to earn a wildcard
spot in the playoffs, but they bowed-out in the Divisional Round in a
35-31 loss to New England as seven-point road underdogs. This followed a
stunning 30-17 upset of rival Pittsburgh as three-point underdogs on
the road in the opening round of the postseason.

Baltimore was ranked 12th in total yards and eighth in scoring with Joe
Flacco under center. Once again, the Ravens’ primary strength was on the
other side of the ball on defense. This unit allowed just 18.9 points,
which was sixth-best in the NFL.

You would have to think it will be a short night for both Brees and
Flacco in this preseason opener for both teams. Stick with the Ravens to
run their current winning streak in this matchup to four games while
covering BetAnySports’ 2 1/2-point spread.

How to Bet the NFL Preseason Football - Handicappers Hideaway

Betting on NFL Football

How to Bet the NFL Preseason Football

By: Doug Upstone of Vegas Pro Insiders Daily

For years I never followed NFL preseason football in the month of
August. I thought it was a waste of time to look at the betting odds and
absolutely had nothing to do with the regular season.

However, beginning in 2003 I changed my tune as a NFL football
handicapper and came up with a simple solution. Over the last decade I
made more money in the preseason then I would have guessed making NFL
picks. The beauty of exhibition games is their simplicity. I have been
very fortunate to honestly hit a monitored 59.4 percent (66-45 ATS) of
these plays and will share with you how it happens.

Pre-Pre Season

Just like in the regular season, it is important to know your teams. I
am not talking about reading hours of information about every given
team, rather to know the coaches and the tendencies of the teams. In the
preseason, a coach can directly impact the scoreboard by substitution
patterns and what his goal is for the team beforehand.

For example, two NFL teams have shown they could care less about winning
in the preseason, especially when favored, (which would be mostly at
home) are Dallas and Kansas City. The Cowboys are 21-36 ATS as favorite
and the Chiefs are 16-33 ATS. These franchises have worked on the
principle building the team and having it ready for the start of the
regular season.

Week 1 – Be Well Versed on Coaches

This is extremely important if you have a desire to have extra money
BEFORE the regular season starts. Be assured, all the sportsbooks like
Wagerweb.ag know the numbers, it is your duty as well if you expect to
profit from sports picks. In the years since John Harbaugh has been the
head coach at Baltimore, he’s placed a priority on the Ravens playing
well early and they are 18-6 against the spread.

Another important factor is first-year coaches. This year we have seven
new taskmasters and guys like Dan Quinn (Falcons), Rex Ryan (Bills),
John Fox (Bears), Todd Bowles (Jets), Jack Del Rio (Raiders), Jim
Tomsula (49ers) and Gary Kubiak (Broncos). Each will want to establish
how they will be running their programs.

After going through grueling training camps, each will want to prove to
his players that the work has been worth the trouble. Nothing pays off
like winning. Historically, these coaches can bring a nice profit in
contests where they don’t meet one another.

One last area to consider is coaches in trouble. These fellows know
their jobs are in jeopardy and have to deliver wins, even if it has to
start in August. Among those that could be a good bet this month are
Lovie Smith (Buccaneers) and Gus Bradley (Jaguars).

Week 2 – Time to Really Engage

This is one of the two weeks you can really attack the NFL odds. The
most important factors this week are prior performance and motivation.
These are largely tied together and you can take advantage of them.

Last season, first-year head coach Bill O’Brien went out to the sizzling
desert and his Houston squad was ambushed by Arizona 32-0 as 1.5-point
favorites. Needless to say that didn’t set well with the coaches and
they rode the Texans players hard all week. Back in the right frame of
mind after a tough week of practice, Houston thumped Atlanta 32-7 as
three-point home favorites.

Likewise, just the opposite can occur. San Diego got off to a rousing
start in Week 1, dumping Dallas 27-7 last year. With optimism built up,
the Chargers bolted for Seattle and were crushed the next week 41-14 as
6.5-point underdog. Look for ripe situations.

Week 3 – Final Tune-up for Regular Season

This is the most important week of NFL preseason football, at least for
coaches to get a real sense of where the team is and if they are on
schedule. Starters will play about two-thirds of the game and a
semblance of a game plan will be implemented. Many of the same
principles still apply about motivation, with a few variations.

The coaches and players place additional importance on this week, thus
giving a good showing does matter. In the preseason, situational
handicapping has relevance, especially for teams losing by 10 or more
points the week before. This is noteworthy, with back-ups playing and
the games being fairly evenly matched.

Once again, coaches will create further accountability through
motivational and psychological tactics. Last August, St. Louis gave a
real dull home effort in Week 2, losing to Green Bay 21-7 in a game that
was not that close. In reading the Rams camp reports, coach Jeff Fisher
made it quite clear another shoddy effort was not acceptable and his
team was thoroughly prepared and they clobbered Cleveland 33-14 as field
goal road dogs.

How this works to your advantage is maybe the coach feels the team is
coming along too fast and wants to dial it back. We all know head
coaches are control freaks. They want to build you up to tear you down
and vice versa. As mentioned in the preseason, these maniacal masters
love to put the team thru grueling practices after a weak effort. Others
might feel the club is peeking too early and let them slack a bit after
an exceptional performance, while closely monitoring they don’t lose
their edge. This is part of the other aspect of analyzing situations,
teams off blowout wins or losses.

Week 4 – Pick Your Spots

The last week of the preseason is nothing more than final preparation
for most teams trying only to avoid injury and making final cuts. Be
cautious with your plays here. If you are having a winning preseason, a
game or two that you really are sure of is worth the risk. If not, the
regular season starts in a week and that is what you care about most.

Final Thoughts

Take the time to review the box scores. What this is for is future
reference. This can lead to insights about any team’s depth. Every NFL
squad is going to have injuries. By reviewing the box scores this time
of year, you might find a team that has built up a 17-0 or 20-3 leads
with the first-team players in two different games and ends up losing
both contests in the second half. This could be a red flag when this
club has injuries during the regular season, when the drop off could be
precipitous. Most importantly, don’t overanalyze, follow the coaches of
the 32 teams and have fun.

BetAnySports’ NFL Preseason Pick of the Week: Chicago Bears vs. Seattle Seahawks – Friday, Aug. 22

Sports Betting at BetAnySports

Chicago Bears vs. Seattle Seahawks – Friday, Aug. 22

Current BAS’ Line: Seattle -7 and the total is 45

The Chicago Bears will try and remain perfect through the first three
weeks of the 2014 NFL preseason this Friday night when they travel to
Seattle to tangle with the defending Super Bowl Champion Seahawks. This
game is set to get underway at 10 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast
nationally on the NFL Network. BetAnySports has opened Seattle as a seven-point favorite with the total set at 44.

The Bears out-gunned Philadelphia 35-28 in their first preseason game
as 1.5-point home favorites and last Thursday night they snuck past
Jacksonville 20-19 as three-point favorites at home. The total went OVER
against the Eagles, but it stayed UNDER the 42-point closing line
against the Jaguars.

Chicago boasted one of the best scoring offenses in the league last
season behind quarterback Jay Cutler and wide receivers’ Brandon
Marshall and Alshon Jeffery and it recently signed Santonio Holmes to
try and make the roster as the No. 3 receiver. Defensively, the Bears
were statistically one of the worst teams in the league in 2013, but
with some free agent acquisitions and a strong draft, second-year head
coach Marc Trestman is looking for some solid improvement from this unit
in 2014.

The Seahawks had no problem keeping opponents off the scoreboard last
season with the No. 1 ranked defense in the NFL in both points and
yards allowed. So far in the preseason, this unit has allowed a total of
35 points in a 21-16 loss to Denver as one-point road favorites in Week
1 followed by a 41-14 rout of San Diego as 65-point favorites at last
Friday night. The total stayed UNDER against the Broncos, but it easily
went OVER BetAnySports’ 39-point total line for the game against the
Chargers.

Seattle appears to be in mid-season form through these first two
games, but the starters have seen limited action so far. Quarterback
Russell Wilson was especially sharp against San Diego with scoring
drives in his only four possessions of the game. Look for head coach
Pete Carroll to play the starters into the second half this Friday night
in the team’s final dress rehearsal for its season opener against Green
Bay on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Seattle rarely loses at home even if it just the preseason. The Bears
have not looked bad in their first two games, but they will have a
tough time putting points on the board against a much better defense
than they faced so far. Give the seven points on BetAnySports spread in
this one as the Seahawks once again cover at home.
