MLB Odds: Contenders with Plenty to Prove Square off When Tigers Host Red Sox

Betting on Detroit Tigers Baseball

Any time the reigning World Series champions take on an MLB odds
powerhouse, the baseball betting community takes notice, but don’t think
that the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers don’t still have plenty to
prove in 2014. In fact, if they don’t start proving their worth soon,
we’ll be left wondering if they ever will.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Below .500 and hard pressed to win their division, the Red Sox will
hope for a strong showing on the road at Comerica Park. The AL East is
as competitive as ever with the Blue Jays suddenly living up to
expectations, the O’s enjoying the proceeds of their star-studded lineup
and the Yankees bouncing back after a disappointing 2013.

Boston holds just +500 odds of winning the AL East and 25/1 odds on the World Series futures.

The Tigers, in contrast, have fared well enough in their division –
an admittedly watered down AL Central – but also haven’t left much of an
impression thus far in 2014. Although Miguel Cabrera has returned to
form after a slow start, his team has dropped out of the top spot in the
sportsbook.

Now with third-ranked 7/1 odds of winning the World Series, Detroit
will look to start making critics believe that this is the year they
finally put it all together. It won’t be easy, but it could start this
weekend.

Tennis Odds: Gulbis Braces for French Open Semifinal Against Djokovic

Betting on the 2014 French OPen

Consecutive victories over high profile opponents have 25-year-old
Ernests Gulbis on the mind of the tennis betting community heading into
the final two rounds of French Open action. The semifinalist will face
off against his toughest challenge yet in Novak Djokovic.

Bet on tennis at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Fresh off of back-to-back wins over Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych –
the latter in three straight sets – Gulbis has become somewhat of a
quiet force in the late stages of the Roland Garros tournament.

His 20/1 odds of winning the French Open pale in comparison to 10/11
mark, but do a fine job of emphasizing the Latvian’s unexpected run to
the penultimate match.

After trailing by a set against Federer in the fourth round, Gulbis
rallied for and improbable victory against the living legend and he
hasn’t looked back since.

While knocking off the No. 4-ranked Federer and then No.6-ranked
Berdych is impressive, however, there’s a reason why Djokovic slides in
at No. 2. Between Djokovic and No. 1 Rafael Nadal, there remains plenty
that could go wrong in Gulbis’ pursuit of yet another upset.

Ranked No. 17, and listed as the 18th seed in the French Open
bracket, Gulbis has come out of nowhere as an intriguing tennis betting
option. There’s no guaranteeing that his luck will continue in the final
rounds at Roland Garros, but it’s something we’re excited to see.

NBA Betting: Unlikely Underdog Heat Hit the Road in Finals

Betting on Spurs NBA Basketball

After a pair of Conference Finals series that matched those from last
year, basketball fans are in for a rematch of the 2013 NBA Finals as
well. Will the déjà vu give those betting on the NBA an advantage when
they’re picking their winner? The San Antonio Spurs are another year
older, sure, but then again so are the Miami Heat.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

In case you haven’t noticed by now, although San Antonio is
constantly written off as too old to contend, they have a tendency to
defy all expectations time and time again. In fact, the experience seems
to have only made them stronger.

According to oddsmakers, despite Miami’s back-to-back titles, the
Spurs are favored to win in 2014 with -125 odds. Have Tim Duncan and the
gang actually improved from the last few seasons? And on that note,
which direction are the Heat trending?

As +105 underdogs, the Heat suddenly have Dwyane Wade’s age to think
about, and the sheer workload of LeBron James. Suddenly San Antonio’s
longevity doesn’t seem to be as much of a factor.

Also favored with a -3.5 spread for Game 1 – scheduled for Thursday –
the time is now for the Spurs to act in the twilight of their stars’
career. Might a championship mark the end of an era for Duncan and the
gang?

2014 MLB World Series Odds: What a Difference a Month Makes

Betting on the 2014 MLB World Series

By: Chris Dyer (Dirty)

As the 2014 Major League Baseball Season barrels into the dog days of
summer most of the teams are starting to settle in and start playing as
they will the rest of the season.  We have teams like the Astros who
are better than they were last year and have a legit shot of not
finishing in the basebament of the American League West if they can play
better at home. You have disappointing teams like the Boston Red Sox
and Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.  As each of those teams season goes
on and they get key players back you expect them to improve. The injury
riddled Texas Rangers are playing .500 ball and the Orioles have finally
gotten somewhat healthy with Chris Davis back and if he can return
anywhere near to what he was last year they can make some noise coupled
with the year that Nelson Cruz is having.

I think the two biggest surprises this year has been the surprising
start of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Blue Jays
offense is off to a blistering start after a mediocre start and have
them 10 games over .500 and 4 games up on the Yankees and 4 1/2 game
lead over the Orioles.  Do the Blue Jays have the pitching to last all
season especially the 35 year old Mark Buehrle, who is 10-1 with a 2.10
ERA. The Pirates are 3 games under 500 now and in 3rd place in the NL
Central7 1/2 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers.  The pitching and
consistency at the plate haven’t been there for the Pirates so far this
year, but there is still plenty of time to turn it around as long as
they can keep playing near .500 ball until the 2nd half of the season
and make a run.

I think the teams in the AL East and NL East will benefit from
playing in each respective leagues worst divisions so far this year
(which is not the norm).  The Braves are banged up and have a patchwork
pitching staff and are the class of the division so far as the Marlins
will not keep up with their problems.  You can honestly say that the
Braves may be the only team in the East to finish over .500 the way
things are shaking out right now. The mets can’t make a run unless they
make some moves and the Phillies can’t either as they are high-salaried
as it is.

The oddsmakers sure have been moving the odds to win the 2014 World
Series a lot and we know they will adjust them as the season
progresses.  I was really shocked to see so much movement on some teams
odds over just a month of the season.  These odds are from Bovada.lv Online Sportsbook.

for one can’t wait to see it happen.

2014 MLB World Series Odds: What a Difference a Month Makes

BetAnySports’ NBA Playoffs Pick of the Week: Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 1- Thursday, June 5

Betting on Spurs NBA Basketball

Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs Game 1- Thursday, June 5

BetAnySports’ Line: Spurs -4 and the Total is 198 1/2

The Miami Heat begin their quest for a third-straight NBA title this
Thursday night against the San Antonio Spurs in a rematch of last
season’s NBA Finals. All the action from the AT&T Center in San
Antonio is slated to get underway at 9 p.m. and the game will be
broadcast nationally on ABC.

The Heat took a fairly short route back to the NBA Finals with a
straight-up record of 12-3 in their first three series against
Charlotte, Brooklyn and Indiana. They have been a solid bet along the
way with a 10-5 record against the spread on BetAnySports’ closing NBA
betting odds for the games. The total went OVER in 11 of the 15 outings.

LeBron James has played like a man possessed in a few of his team’s
dominate victories in the postseason and he leads the team across the
board in points (27.1), rebounds (6.8) and assists (5.0). Dwyane Wade
has been able to stay healthy enough to add another 18.7 points per game
and to round-out the Big Three in Miami, Chris Bosh is scoring 15.2 PPG
and pulling down 5.7 rebounds a game. The Heat are averaging 99.1 PPG
while hitting 49.7 percent of their shots from the field and 39.5
percent from 3-point range.

San Antonio took a slightly longer route to its second straight
appearance in the NBA Finals with a 12-6 SU record in 18 previous
postseason games. It has not been a solid bet at times with a 9-9 record
ATS and the total has gone OVER in 10 of those 18 games. BetAnySports
has opened the Spurs as -130 favorites to win this series with Heat
listed as +110 underdogs, but holding onto that all-important home court
advantage has to start with a win on Thursday night.

Tony Parker has been the Spurs leading scorer in the playoffs with
17.2 PPG, but he is dealing with a sore left ankle that could cost him
some playing time not just in Game 1, but in the entire series if the
pain persists. Tim Duncan continues to be a force in the postseason with
16.5 points and a team-high 8.9 rebounds while Manu Ginobili has been
instrumental in the team’s success with 14.3 points off the bench. San
Antonio is averaging 106.6 PPG while shooting 48.2 percent from the
field and 39.2 percent from beyond the arc.

I see this series going the full seven games just like last season,
but as far as Game 1 goes I am taking the Heat and the 4 points on
BetAnySports’ current betting line. Miami may not get the SU win, but
this one is going down to the wire either way.
