Andrew Benintendi makes his first Major League start in left field when The Red Sox meet The Mariners at Safeco Field tonight.



Benintendi was deployed as a pinch-hitter and grounded to second in his
first career at-bat on Tuesday, becoming Boston's first prospect to make
his Major League debut one year after he was drafted since Fred Lynn in
1974. Rick Porcello has won eight decisions in a row and each of his
past six starts.



Porcello hasn't lost a game since May 17, having gone 8-0 with a 3.44
ERA over his subsequent 13 starts. His dependability has been a big
reason why the Red Sox (58-47) have been able to stay in the thick of
the American League East race despite some recent stumbles. Boston is
just 4-8 over its past 12 games yet is still within two games of the
first-place Baltimore Orioles in the division standings.



The Red Sox will face veteran Mariners right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma, who
leads the staff with 11 wins. He has been one of the Mariners' most
consistent starters this year, but his last outing was his roughest. He
allowed five runs on eight hits in just three innings against the Cubs
on July 29.



Seattle has a prized prospect of its own, new closer Edwin Diaz. The
flame-throwing rookie, who possesses a 100 mph fastball, made his debut
as closer on Tuesday night and struck out three of the four batters he
faced to earn his first career save.

non-waiver trade deadline, adding pitchers Scott Feldman and Francisco
Liriano while trading away Drew Hutchison and Jesse Chavez.

It'll be Marco Estrada (3.98 FIP) getting the nod for Toronto on
Wednesday. Estrada has pitched quite well, delivering 11 quality starts
in his last 12 games, but the Jays (59-47, –1.91 betting units) have
lost three of Estrada's last five starts to fall 0.93 units in the red
on a record of 10-8. The under is 12-6 this year with Estrada on the
mound.



Collin McHugh (3.75 FIP) has pitched even better than Estrada, and the

runs per game, enough to generate 3.90 units of profit at 13-8 in his 21
starts. But this has still been a frustrating year for McHugh. Opposing
batters have a combined .362 BABIP off McHugh this season, pushing his
ERA all the way up to 4.75.

The Texas Rangers bring a hot hand into Camden Yards this week after winning seven of their last nine games. BetAnySports

Darvish on the mound, but that was primarily due to a lack of run
support with just seven total runs over those four contests.



Baltimore’s lead in the AL East has shrunk to just a half a game over
Toronto following this past weekend’s 2-1 series loss to the rival Blue
Jays. The Orioles have now lost five of their last six games to fall to
59-45 on the year. They have still been tough to beat at Camden Yards
this season with a record of 37-16 and the total has stayed UNDER

The Orioles will turn to Dylan Bundy as their starter for Tuesday night.
Pitching mainly out of the bullpen this season, the right-hander will
be making just his fourth start of the year. His last time out against

sixth inning. Prior to that, he shutout Cleveland for five innings to
pick up the win. Bundy’s overall ERA on the year stands at 3.46 with a

matchup on the mound. Texas definitely in better form coming in, but I

Two MLB division leaders clash this Tuesday night when the Washington
Nationals go on the road to face the Cleveland Indians in the first of a
quick two-game interleague tilt. BetAnySports
has listed the Nationals as +131 road underdogs with the money line on
Cleveland set at -141. The total for this game has been set at 8. The
first pitch at Progressive Field is scheduled for 7:10 pm. (ET).



Washington embarks on an extended nine-game road trip after dropping
five of its last six games at home. This past weekend, the Nationals
lost two of three to San Diego by a combined score of 17-12, but the
total still stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing line in two of the three
contests. It has now stayed UNDER in eight of their last 12 games.
Washington’s lead in the NL East over Miami is down to 4.5 games and it
is 27-21 in 48 road games this year.



Look for Gio Gonzalez to get the start for the Nationals in this series

The Indians have also been struggling lately with a 4-5 record since the
All-Star break and they are coming off three straight losses on the
road to Baltimore this past weekend by a combined score of 15-6. Their
lead over Detroit in the AL Central is still six full games behind an
overall record of 56-41. Tuesday will be the first outing in an extended
nine-game home stand. Cleveland is 26-16 at home this year and the
total has gone OVER in five of its last six games at Progressive Field.



Danny Salazar is slated to get the start on Tuesday for the Indians. He
is coming off a 6.2 inning quality start against Kansas City in which he
allowed just two earned runs on eight hits. The right-hander is now 7-2
in his last nine starts as part of an 11-3 record this season. His
current ERA stands at 2.75 with a 1.19 WHIP.



I would have to go with Cleveland in this one as a solid -141 home favorite with BetAnySports.
The Indians have the slight edge on the mound with Salazar and their
bats have been much more productive at home lately with 46 total runs
scored in their last seven home games.

Norris will have the edge in experience when he meets Chris Archer in
the opener of a two-game set Tuesday in Los Angeles. Norris' most recent
outing came in relief, two days after his last start. He pitched during
the 15th inning Friday night against the Cardinals and gave up a
walk-off home run to Matt Adams in the 16th with the Dodgers short on
arms. Norris has allowed 20 runs (19 earned) in 37 innings over seven
appearances (six starts) in his career against the Rays.



On the other side Archer will lack the familiarity in his first career
appearance against Los Angeles. The Rays are 2-10 in Archer's last 12
starts, and he owns a 4.74 ERA in 74 innings with opponents hitting .248
against him over that stretch. He is 2-1 in Interleague Play this
season with a 4.00 ERA over 18 innings and three starts.



This will be the beginning for the The Dodgers of a five-game homestand
with a two-game set against The Tampa Bay Rays starting Tuesday night.

They are rumored to have interest in Rays right-hander Chris Archer. The
fact that Los Angeles president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman
worked for Tampa in a similar capacity for nine seasons before being
lured here adds to the intrigue. A deal for Archer might shore up some
of the void left by injured ace Clayton Kershaw, who is on the 15 day
disabled list with mild disc herniation and whose return is unknown.
