2017 Super Millions Poker Open Underway

2017 Super Millions

2017 Super Millions: Two Cards or Four?

he 2017 Super Millions Poker Open is off to a running start at Ignition Casino Poker. The first events on the 105-tournament schedule have already been completed; there are three more tourneys on Thursday’s schedule, with a total of $34,000 in guaranteed prize money waiting to be won.

Play the 2017 Super Millions Poker Open at Ignition Casino Poker.

Thursday’s action kicks off at 8:03 PM ET with Event #18, the $20,000 Gtd Super Stack, where players start with 5,000 chips in their stacks. Event #19, the $10,000 Gtd at 9:03 PM, starts even deeper at 10,000 chips. No-limit Texas Hold’em is the name of the game for both tournaments. As a general rule, if you’re going to go all-in with a big stack, make sure you’re drawing to the nuts if you don’t already have the best hand.

The night wraps up with a very special tournament: the only fixed-limit Omaha Hi/Lo event on the SMPO schedule. Event #20 at 10:03 PM ET is a $4,000 Gtd Turbo with starting stacks once again set at 10,000 chips. Fixed-limit is the classic betting structure for Omaha Hi/Lo; the Turbo format will keep the action rolling as the blinds go up and more of those giant stacks get pushed into the middle.

Play poker at Ignition Casino in the Super Millions Poker Open.

Redblacks and Alouettes Battle Wednesday

Redblacks CFL Football

Redblacks Looking for 1st Win

The Montreal Alouettes and the Ottawa RedBlacks will both be gunning for a victory on Wednesday. The two teams will meet in the nation’s capital with plenty on the line in a rare Wednesday night duel. The Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 PM at TD Place Stadium.

The 2017 CFL season saw the Ottawa Redblacks as favorites to win the East Division. The Montreal Alouettes’ myriad personnel changes had people thinking fof low expectations in their first year under new GM Kavis Reed.

Heading into Week 5 and the Als are tied for the division lead at a respectable 2-2. The Redblacks search for their first win of the 2017 season.

Oddsmakers have listed the Redblacks as 4-point favorites. The total is sitting at 50.

Last time out for Ottawa, they were a 23-21 loser as they battled the Edmonton Eskimos on the road. The RedBlacks covered in the match as a +3-point underdog, while 44 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors. Four close games for Rick Campbell’s football team has produced one tie and three losses. The Redblacks have been close to victory at various points in all four games. The team hasn’t been able to to get over the hump for their first win of 2017.

In the middle of an 11-day, three-game stretch, the Redblacks are struggling on defense.  Ottawa’s two leading tacklers, Nick Taylor (28) and Khalil Bass (21), are on the injured list. Taylor on the six-game list, and inexperienced Serderius Bryant and Adam Berger will slide into the lineup.  Antoine Pruneau will drop down into a linebacker spot along with Bryant. Berger will take over duties at safety.

Alouettes Look to Keep Offense Rolling Despite Injuries

Montreal won its last outing, a 30-23 result against the Calgary Stampeders on July 14. The Alouettes covered in that game as a +4-point underdog, while the 53 combined points took the game OVER the total. The Alouettes made a statement with Saturday’s win over the heavily-favored Stampeders.

Jacques Chapdelaine’s squad may have to find a way to keep the offense rolling without star running back Tyrell Sutton. He has a CFL-best 295 rush yards. Didier Orméjuste of RDS reports that Sutton will not play in Week 5.  Brandon Rutley will get his first start since 2016 in the Montreal backfield. He could be poised for a breakout game. The San Jose State alum rushed for nearly 500 yards last season. He has averaged just shy of five yards per carry in his four-year CFL career.

2017 MLB All-Star Game Preview

MLB All-Star Game

Can the National League Stop the AL Winning Streak in MLB All-Star Game?

The 88th MLB All-Star Game takes place on Tuesday in Miami. The rules have changed and now the winning league won’t get home-field advantage in the World Series. Even so, the National League will still be trying to stop a four-year losing streak to the American League.

Oddsmakers have the National League as a-117-moneyline favorite. The total is now at 8.5.

Bet on baseball at Bovada and get a 50% bonus.

The American League will have 18 first-time All-Stars, led by Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees. Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners leads the AL with eight All-Star appearances. For the nod of starting pitcher, Cleveland manager Brad Mills will go with Chris Sale of the Boston Red Sox. Sale is 11-4 with a 2.75 ERA, leading the AL in innings and strikeouts.

Sale will have friends and family members at Marlins Park to watch since he is from Florida. He is the first American League pitcher to start two consecutive All-Star Games in 34 years.

If Boston's Craig Kimbrel is on the mound in the last inning there is a good chance the American League will continue its recent dominance. The Former Braves All-Star Closer has 1.19 ERA and is 23-for-25 on save chances.

National League Has Stacked Pitching in MLB All-Star Game

The National League has 10 first-time All-Stars while the Washington Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman, Daniel Murphy and Bryce Harper are all starters. Yadier Molina of the St. Louis Cardinals has eight All-Star appearances to lead all NL players. Joe Maddon of the Chicago Cubs would like to start Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but Kershaw started on Sunday, so that’s a quick turnaround. Maddon could go with Washington’s Max Scherzer, who is 10-5 with a 2.10 ERA. Scherzer leads the NL in innings pitched, strikeouts and ERA.

Clayton Kershaw (14-2, 2.18 ERA) is unavailable since he pitched Sunday for the Dodgers. Chicago Cubs and NL manager Joe Maddon said on Monday that Scherzer would have gotten the nod anyway. Scherzer has been virtually money in the bank from the mound the past two seasons.

The Dodgers' Closer, Kenley Jansen is as good as Kimbrell this season. If he is there at the end there is a strong shot that the National League finally win. Jansen has a 0.93 ERA, 21-for-21 on save chances.

The NL has won just three times and tied once with the AL since 1997.

Nunes Out of UFC 213: Whitaker vs. Romero Becomes Main Event

UFC 213 MMA

Nunes Hospitalized with Sickness has to Pull out of UFC 213

Amanda Nunes will be unable to compete at UFC 213 against Valentina Shevchenko. UFC president Dana White confirmed the news earlier this evening. Nunes, the UFC women's bantamweight champion, Was sent to the hospital for treatment early Saturday. Reports say she was sick on and off all week.  The UFC doctor cleared Nunes to fight, but she still backed out of the Main Event.

This would be only the second time in Nunes' career where she had to withdraw from a fight. She had to pull out with a foot injury back in 2011. Nues was to fight Julie Kedzie in a Strikeforce bout on that night. The main event against Shevchenko on Saturday was a rematch of the two's first meeting a year ago. Nunes won by unanimous decision.  It wasthe only decision fight in her professional MMA career.

Robert Whittaker vs. Yoel Romero will serve as the new main event. This is a battle for the interim middleweight title. Fabricio Werdum vs. Alistair Overeem the new co-main event.

UFC 213 just got a little shakeup. Whittaker-Romero is still a worthy headliner. Overall a bit of the luster has definitely been knocked off this card. UFC 213 was originally expected to feature T.J. Dillashaw against bantmaweight champ Cody Garbrandt in the main event. This is the second major change in the last couple weeks. Donald Cerrone vs. Robbie Lawler was pushed back to UFC 214 after Cerrone was hospitalized with a blood infection.

Whitaker vs. Romero Preview for UFC 213

UFC fight fans finally get to see Yoel Romero battle for UFC gold. It is only an interim belt, but he is worthy of the shot. He faces off with red-hot Robert Whittaker in the main event. The two fighters have a combined 15-fight winning streak. This is among the best active streaks in the company. If Whittaker is able to pressure Romero and keep him from taking the fight to the ground, it will be quite an interesting bout.

Many UFC experts say that whoever wins this fight is the best middleweight in the world. We will get a chance to see them in action tonight.

The Tale of the Tape

Yoel Romero
Record: 13-1
Top Wins: Chris Weidman, Ronaldo Souza), Lyoto Machida, Tim Kennedy
Top Losses: Rafael Cavalcante in Strikeforce
Road to Victory: Romero is one of the greatest athletes to ever compete inside the Octagon. The Olympic silver medalist in wrestling moves is almost 40 years old, but his quickness and his ability to time hard hitting contact and quick takedowns don't show his age.

Romero is really smart. He’s knows his limitations, and he’s willing to give up large portions of the fight so he can recoup energy before exploding again. Doing this allows him to carry his power and explosiveness late into the fight. He outlasts his younger foes as well.

To defeat Whittaker, Romero will need to be able counter effectively. Whittaker moves a lot. He can't be chasing him around the ring. It is tiring and can drain the gas tank quickly.  Romero is savvy enough to catch Whittaker as he comes in. If he is able to do that he can take advantage of it and win this fight.

Robert Whittaker
Record: 18-4
Top Wins: Ronaldo Souza, Derek Brunson, Uriah Hall, Rafael Natal
Top Losses: Stephen Thompson, Court McGee
Road to Victory: Whittaker is a kickboxer with a background in both boxing and karate. That history translates very well into the cage. Whitaker uses his swift feet well, he has strong kicks, and sharp and quick combinations to blister opponents. At only 26 years of age, he can maintain long periods of time attacking and being on full-tilt. The Aussie throws a lot of punches and they are consistent. He doens't take much of a break between flurries. If he sizes his opponent up he is throwing deadly blows from the opening bell.

Roughriders Look for 1st Win in Mosaic Stadium

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Saskatchewan Roughriders battle on Saturday when they meet at Mosaic Stadium. The Roughriders look for their first win at brand-spanking new Mosaic Stadium. The teams cap-off CFL Week 3 action on ESPN2 in the United States. Gametime is set for 10 pm EST.

Oddsmakers opened the Roughriders up as 2-point favorites against the spread. That has now dropped to the Rriders being only 1-point favorites now. The total opened at 53 and has inched down to 52.5.

The Roughriders were a 43-40 loser in their most recent outing at home against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. They failed to cover the -1.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score (83) made winners of OVER bettors.

Saskatchewan has lost its first two games by a combined total of four points. This includes a heart-breaking 43-40 overtime game to Winnipeg Blue last week at the new Mosaic Stadium home opener. Justin Medlock kicked the game winning field goal in the second overtime to seal the deal for Saskatchewan’s rivals.

Kevin Glenn led the offense. He completed 36 of 49 passes for 377 yards with four touchdowns. Glenn also had two interceptions. He connected with four different receivers for majors, including Nic Demski, who had a team-high 82 receiving yards.

TiCats are Looking to Shore up Defense and O-Line

Hamilton lost its last outing, a 32-15 loss against the Toronto Argonauts on June 25. The Tiger-Cats failed to cover in that game as a -3.5-point favorite, while the 47 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

The Ticats are coming off of a bye week. They are anxious to redeem themselves after falling 32-15 to the Toronto Argonauts in Week 1. Hamilton’s only touchdown was scored on special teams. Will Hill blocked a Toronto field goal attempt. It was taken back to for a TD by Richard Leonard for an 84-yard major.

The Black and Gold’s defence gave up 506 yards in the air to Ricky Ray and company. It was a career-high for the 37-year-old veteran. Zach Collaros was sacked six times in the loss. The Tabbies will start running back Ross Scheuerman in Week 3. Scheuerman rushed for 79 yards on 16 carries and added another 40 yards on five catches in his one and only start last season against the Montreal Alouettes back in September.
