Yankees and Indians Battle in the Bronx

The New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians are both setting their sights on the postseason in the American League. The two meet in New York for the second of a three-game set on Tuesday.

Stanton and the Marlins Take on NL Central-Leading Nats

Marlins Staying in NL Wildcard Race

In a battle of two National League Central clubs, both teams have the playoffs in their sights. The third game of the three-set series features the Marlins’ LHP Adam Conley against Washington’s RHP Stephen Strasburg at Nationals Park in Washington, DC.

The Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton currently sits atop the MLB leaderboard in both homeruns and RBI’s (with 50 homeruns and 108 RBIs). He’s been the offensive heartbeat of the Marlins since opening day. Blue Jays Host Red Sox at Just the Right Time

Blue Jays Hanging on in AL Wild Card Race

The Toronto Blue Jays (61-70, –13.10 betting units) need to start winning right now if they want to stay in the American League Wild Card race. The Boston Red Sox (74-57, -0.97 units), meanwhile, come out of the weekend after three straight losses. Postseason Series Preview?

The Cleveland Indians and the New York Yankees will meet at Yankee Stadium on Monday night. This game should be a good one. Two of the best pitchers in baseball will be going facing each other. Both teams are knee deep in the playoff battle as well. This could be a precursor to a good postseason series. The Yankees are the American League Wildcard leader, while the Indians are the AL Central leader.

Oddsmakers opened the Yankees as -124-moneyline favorites versus the Indians, while the game's total opened at 7.5.

The Indians will trot Corey Kluber out to the mound in this one. Right hander Kluber has a 12-4 record and a 2.65 ERA this season. He is 4-1 with a 1.89 ERA in five starts in August. Kluber is also 5-1 with a 2.43 ERA in eight starts since the All-Star break. He is 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA in six career starts against the Yankees. Kluber  is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in three starts at Yankee Stadium.

Kluber is coming off his first loss since July 4. He struck out 12 while allowing two runs on four hits over 7 2/3 innings in a 6-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. Yankees Bats Struggle Against Kluber

Starting this game for the Yankees will be Luis Severino. The right hander has a 3.10 ERA to go along with a 11-5 record this season. Severino is 6-1 with a 2.16 ERA in eight starts since the All-Star break. His only loss was Aug. 12 when he allowed 10 runs against the Red Sox. Severino is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in three career starts against the Yankees. Severino remained unbeaten against the Indians by holding them to one run and two hits in 6 2/3 innings Aug. 6 in Cleveland.

New York's current roster is hitting a combined .167 (20-for-120) with 37 strikeouts against Kluber. Todd Frazier and Aaron Hicks are 2-for-23 and 3-for-20, respectively, against him, while Chase Headley is 0-for-11.

The Indians' current roster is a combined 8-for-50 (.160) off Severino. Edwin Encarnacion had one of the two hits in the last meeting and is 3-for-13 lifetime against Severino.
