Nevada Hosts SDSU With Title in Hand

Nevada Wolf Pack Athletics

Nevada Has Had Record Setting Season

San Diego State hosts 21st-ranked Nevada in the season finale for both teams. Nevada has the regular season title wrapped up and will be looking to end the season on a high note. Tip-off is set for 10 pm EST and CBS Sports Network will have the coverage.

Oddsmakers have San Diego State as 2-point favorites. The total is sitting at 153.

Nevada left little doubt that the Wolf Pack are the best team in the Mountain West Conference. They demolished in-state rival UNLV by 27 points on Wednesday night. With San Diego State's defeat of Boise State, 72-64, Nevada clinched it's second consecutive MWC regular season title.

The Wolf Pack can add to their record-setting season with a win over the Aztecs tonight. Nevada improved to 7-1 on the road in conference play. The team can tie Mountain West records for wins in a season with 16. They can also claim records for road wins with eight with a victory.

Caleb Martin had 19 points and eight rebounds in the clincher. He missed the first meeting between these teams on Feb. 7 with a foot sprain. It was 86-78 UNLV win.

Cody Martin, who is Caleb's twin brother, tinkered with a triple-double. He finished with a game-high 26 points. He also chipped in nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Jordan Caroline, last year's MWC Tournament MVP, added 22 points. Kendall Stephens added 14 and Josh Hall added 10.

As shown above the Wolf Pack is loaded with talented playmakers.

Aztecs Look to Upset Nevada With Talented Bunch

Redshirt freshman Jalen McDaniels posted a double-double in the win over Boise State. He had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Malik Pope, who sat out one game after being cleared of violating NCAA rules, scored 12 points.

In their meeting on Feb. 10, Caroline scored 26 points and Stephens added 21 to lead Nevada to an 83-58 win in Reno. So revenge will be on the mind of the Aztecs.

The Aztecs made only 21 of 62 shots from the field. That is only 33.9 percent and only 10 of 30 from 3-point land. They went to the free-throw line only 10 times. They made six, and the Wolf Pack were 16 of 20.

The win over the Aztecs was the first of Nevada's current six-game win streak. They seem to only have gotten better. This is despite losing point guard Lindsey Drew for the season because of an Achilles tendon injury.

Duke Hosts UNC to End Regular Season

Duke Basketball

Duke and UNC Both Coming off Losses

Duke and North Carolina will end their regular season like always. They will be battling each other and there will be plenty at stake. Tip-off is set for 8:15 pm EST and ESPN will have the telecast.

Oddsmakers have the Blue Devils as 8-point favorites, with a few scattered 7.5's out there. The total is holding at 160.

Either No. 9 North Carolina or  No. 5 Duke will have a two-game losing streak heading to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. Tonight's meeting at Cameron Indoor Stadium will determine who will have the 2nd seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament.

If Duke loses they would be the 3rd seed. If North Carolina loses they would fall to anywhere between the 4th-6th seed.

This is the first time since 2007 both teams have losses coming into the season finale.

Duke suffered a 64-63 crippler at Virginia Tech. They lost on a put-back basket with 4.1 seconds left. North Carolina fell the next night at home to Miami. The loss was a thrilling 91-88 game that Miami won on a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

This loss snapped North Carolina's season-best six-game winning streak.

Tonight is the final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium for Duke senior guard Grayson Allen. The infamous hothead, bully has scored 931 points in the building. Allen has 1,889 points to rank 18th on Duke's career scoring list.

North Carolina won the first meeting 82-78 against Duke in a Feb. 8 game in Chapel Hill.

This will be Krzyzewski's 1,300th game as Duke's coach. 88.8 percent of those game (1,154) have been with the Blue Devils in the national rankings.

Duke is 79-56 under Coach K in games with both teams ranked in the top 10. The Blue Devils are 37-11 in such matchups at home.

How to Bet On Sports- Betting the NBA’s Second Half, March Madness and More

How to Bet On Sports- Betting the NBA’s Second Half

This past Friday marked the start of the NBA’s annual All-Star break before action resumes this Thursday night. The extended break is supposed to symbolize the halfway point of the regular season, but the reality is that all 30 teams have played basically 70 percent of their 82-game schedule.

All this simply means is that NBA bettors have more than enough stats, facts and betting trends on the books when it comes to handicapping any upcoming matchups. The one caveat to that theory is the recent flurry of player movement right before the NBA’s trade deadline earlier this month.

Most times this passes with little fanfare, but led by the wheeling and dealing Cleveland Cavaliers, the makeup of more than a few teams has changed as a result of these moves.

NBA Scores, Stats, Odds and Previews and Predictions

Cleveland went into the break with a four-game winning streak with all the new faces together for the last two wins. As a bettor, I would still put the Cavaliers on the backburner for the next few weeks to see how this team really gels.

Do not forget that Cleveland is still 34-22 straight-up with a costly 18-37-1 record against the spread. This includes a dismal 6-20-1 ATS record at home.

One of the other interesting storylines coming off the break is the battle for the top spot in the Western Conference. For the past few seasons it has been a given that Golden State would claim the No. 1 seed in the standings on its way to the NBA Finals out of the West.

Houston has decided to mount a serious challenge and with a half-game lead in the standings at a NBA-best 44-13, it already owns a tiebreaker against the Warriors with a 2-1 series win in the regular season. These two will not face each other again until the postseason.

Young teams on the move should make things interesting over the next two months of regular season play. Minnesota could be one of the most exciting teams in the West sitting in a tie with San Antonio for third place, but are the Timberwolves ready to seriously compete with the upper echelon of this conference?

Philadelphia is a fun team to watch with the likes of Joel Embiid and Ben Simons leading the turnaround this season at 30-25, but how far can these two young guns carry things?

Win Up to $3500 – America’s Bookie March Madness Bracket Contest

Toronto owns the top spot in the East at 41-16 with Boston two games off the pace. Can either of these two frontrunners sustain this level of success all the way past Cleveland in a best-of-seven series come playoff time?

These are just a few of the burning questions in the NBA as the real meat of the regular season gets underway. Betting games this time of the year takes a bit more effort to produce a winning result. You need to pay very close attention to any team’s roster in a game you are going to bet.

Injuries are very prevalent down the stretch, but day-to-day on the injury report does not tell you much. Placing bets as close as possible to tip-off will take quite a bit of the guesswork out knowing which players are active for that particular game.

Understanding which games a team needs to win and which ones are basically throwaway contests is also a big factor when it comes to betting the games. A head coach may decide to sit all of his stars at the same time if he deems they need the rest.

There is also the case of the bottom dwellers tanking games in hopes of a better draft lottery position. Understanding any team’s motivation for any game it plays from here on in should become a vital aspect of the handicapping process.

Sharks Buy, Blackhawks Sell Before Thursday Matchup

Blackhawks Hockey

Blackhawks Were Sellers At Deadline

Have the Chicago Blackhawks (27-28-8) pulled the plug on their playoff hopes? The last-place team in the Central Division was a seller at Monday’s NHL trade deadline.

The San Jose Sharks (34-21-9), on the other hand, are second in the Pacific. They’ve bolstered their lineup ahead of Thursday’s matchup with the visiting Blackhawks. The Puck drops at 10:30 PM ET on WGN and NBCSN.

Oddsmakers have the Sharks as -155 moneyline favorites. The total is at 5.5.

Bet on hockey at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Chicago did quite well at the deadline. They sent RW Ryan Hartman (eight goals, 17 assists in 53 games) to the Nashville Predators and getting a first-round pick. The Hawks also shipped RW Tommy Wingels (seven goals, five assists in 57 games) to the Boston Bruins for a fifth-round pick. They waived LW Lance Bouma (three goals, six assists).

Depth might be an issue this Thursday night.

The Sharks sent a conditional first-round pick to the Buffalo Sabres as part of the deal for top-line LW Evander Kane (20 goals, 20 assists). It was a small price to pay in the long run most likely. Kane is in a prolonged slump, scoring just five goals and an assist since January 1. He’ll also be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

The Boston Bruins made one of the biggest splashes this trade deadline. They picked up the former 40-goal scorer Rick Nash from the New York Rangers. With 84 points on the season and 21 games still to play, the Bruins look poised to give Tampa Bay a run for their money.

The battle for top spot in the East could be a good one. They’ll be without the best all-round player on their team for an indefinite period. Patrice Bergeron suffered a fractured foot while blocking a shot on Saturday.

Pittsburgh was active at the trade deadline as well. They picked up Derek Brassard from the Ottawa Senators. Brassard is set to slot in as the team’s third line centre behind Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

This will give the Penguins arguably the best top three centre combination in the NHL. The Pens also suffered injury news this this week. Matt Murray was diagnosed with a concussion and will be out indefinitely.
