Reds Host the Surprising Braves

Atlanta Braves

Braves are Two Games Back of Mets in NL East

The Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds will on Monday at Great American Ball Park. The Reds are in peril and the Braves have surprised much of the National League.

TV: 6:40 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Atlanta), FS Ohio (Cincinnati)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (1-1, 2.53 ERA) vs. Reds RH Sal Romano (0-2, 5.75)

Oddsmakers opened the Braves as -122-moneyline favorites versus the Reds, while the game's total opened at 9.

These teams are experiencing completely different beginnings to the season. Atlanta opens a four-game series at struggling Cincinnati. The Braves, who were rained out of Sunday's series finale against the New York Mets. They are off to their best start in four years.

The Reds begin the week with baseball's worst record at 3-18 after falling Sunday 9-2 at St. Louis.

Reds Pitching has Struggled and Offense is not Great Either

Cincinnati's bullpen gave up six runs in three innings Sunday. The relievers ERA is 5.30, while Reds starters own a 5.71 ERA. Rookie outfielder Jesse Winker collected a RBI double to raise his average to .283. He has reached base in each of his past nine games. The Reds are averaging just 2.9 runs per game.

Romano has struggled with his control through four starts. He has walked 11 hitters. That is the same as he has struck out. Romano has given up four "Creatures" in 20 1/3 innings.

The 24-year-old pitched better in his last start Tuesday at Milwaukee. He gave up two runs on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts in five innings. Romano held the Braves to one run on five hits in seven innings in a victory last season. That is his only career appearances against Atlanta.

Cincinnati 1B Joey Votto recorded his 1,604th career hit Sunday. That moved him into second place among major-league players from Canada. Larry Walker sits atop the list at 2,160.

The Reds have scored only seven runs on 27 hits in their past five games. They have no homers, 14 walks and 36 strikeouts.

Braves Have Top Offense in National League

Atlanta entered Sunday leading the NL in runs scored with 111, doubles with 47, batting average at .266, and slugging percentage .427. Their starting rotation has posted a 1.97 ERA in its past 15 games. Rookie second baseman Ozzie Albies has 16 extra-base hits. He has nine doubles and six homers. Shortstop Dansby Swanson has eight doubles and is hitting .342.

Foltynewicz was scheduled to start Sunday's rainout. He is a different pitcher this year. He has increased usage of his slider through four starts to 26.3 percent. Compare that to 21.2 percent last season. The 26-year-old has not allowed more than two earned runs in a start.

Folty has struck out seven or more in three of four outings. Foltynewicz  gave up one run on four hits Tuesday against Philadelphia. He 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in three career starts against the Reds.

Celtics Look to Take Huge Lead over Bucks

Celtics NBA Playoffs

Celtics Look for 3-0 Lead

The Boston Celtics will be trying to take a commanding lead in their playoff series on Friday. They take on the Milwaukee Bucks at Bradley Center and with a win will go up 3-0. This is not the series the Bucks thought it would be.

Oddsmakers opened the Bucks as -6-point favorites versus the Celtics, while the game's total opened at 202.5. The line is now Milwaukee -5 and the total has risen to 206.

TV: 9:30 p.m. EST, ESPN, NBCS Boston, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee).

The Bucks thought it may be good to play the Celtics with Kyrie Irving injured. They were wrong. The Bucks return home in a 2-0 deficit. That is in large part because of the performance of Irving's replacement, Terry Rozier.

Rozier, who is a third-year point guard, has torched Milwaukee's defense. He has scored 23 points in each of the first two games. The kid is averaging 5.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds as well.

He's particularly been source of frustration for Bucks point guard Eric Bledsoe. Rozier is 7 for 17 when matched up against Bledsoe. Bledsoe is only 4 for 13 from the floor with Rozier as his primary defender.

Celtics Keeping Bledsoe Contained in First Playoff Series

Bledsoe has done anything but be effective. He's scored only 21 total points on 9-for-25 shooting. He is only 2-for-6 from beyond the arc.

He's also committed six turnovers. That's been a significant issue so far from the Bucks. They've committed 35 already in the series.

The Celtics have made them pay for those mistakes. Twenty percent of Boston's scoring has come off a Milwaukee turnover. The Celtics hold only a two-rebound advantage over the Bucks. They have racked up 20 offensive rebounds which they've converted for 42 points.

Jabari Parker has yet to show up either. He didn't appear in a game this season until Feb. 2. He was rehabbing from a torn ACL. Parker finished the regular season strong, averaging 19.5 points in 31.8 minutes over the final six games. He's played only 25 minutes in the series. Only scoring two points on 1-of-7 shooting.

Tigers Look to Sweep Orioles in Afternoon Tilt

Detroit Tigers Baseball

Zimmerman On the Hill for Tigers

The Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon at Comerica Park. The Tigers look to follow up their four-homer performance as they vie for a three-game sweep.

The Orioles will give the ball to starter Alex Cobb in this one. Right hander Cobb is 0-1 this season with a 17.17 ERA.

Cobb's opponent in this one will be Jordan Zimmermann. The Tigers right hander has a 8.18 ERA to go along with a 0-0 record this season.

TV: 1:10 p.m. EST, MLB Network, MASN (Baltimore), FS Detroit.

Oddsmakers opened the Orioles as -135-moneyline favorites versus the Tigers, while the game's total opened at 9.

Tigers Needed to Come From Behind

The Detroit Tigers answered a five-game losing streak, along with multiple rain-outs with consecutive victories this week. The wins over the reeling Orioles came at a great time. With these losses the Orioles have now have dropped five in a row themselves.

Detroit needed two comebacks after squandering a 2-1 lead in the eighth on Wednesday. John Hicks hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. It gave the Tigers a 5-4 lead. The Orioles tied it in the top of the ninth and Dixon Machado blasted a walk-off homer for a 6-5 victory.

The Tigers have scored 31 of their 59 runs this season in the seventh inning or later.

It's amazing Zimmermann avoided a trip to the disabled list after his last outing. He suffered a right jaw bruise when he was hit square in the face by a Jason Kipnis' come-backer at Cleveland last week. Zimmermann was forced to leave the game after seven pitches.

Zimmermann is 3-4 with a 5.84 ERA in eight starts against the Orioles.

Cobb Looks to Get on Track Against Tigers

Cobb had a Baltimore debut he would love to forget. He allowed eight runs, seven earned, and 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings at Boston on Saturday.

Cobb signed a four-year contract worth nearly $60 million late in spring training. That forced him to play catch-up. He turned down a qualifying offer from Tampa Bay in November. That move made him an unrestricted free agent. He had a 12-10 record and 3.66 ERA last season. He's 2-1 with a 2.41 ERA in six starts against Detroit.

The Orioles showed some signs of life offensively on Wednesday. They had four runs in the last two innings. They scored a total of 11 runs in their previous six losses.

Baltimore has struggled to a 3-9 mark away from Camden Yards. They look to avert a fruitless six-game road trip on Thursday. After today they will have for 10-game home-stand.

Manny Machado carries a six-game hitting streak. He is 8-for-24 with four doubles and four RBI's during the streak.

Tonight’s NBA Playoff Games: Wizards vs. Raptors

NBA Playoff 2018

Game Two NBA Playoff Action

Tonight’s NBA Playoff action is stellar, there are three fantastic games and we want to take a look at them and give you a solid betting choice and help you win some money.

Wizards vs. Raptors

NBATV 7:00 PM EST

Toronto -6.5

O/U 215

The Raptors have taken the early lead in this series and lead the Wizards 1-0. This on its face is no surprise. The Raptors are extremely talented. They bring to the table youth, size, speed, ball handling and even a little bit of defense. This squad is very good and very deep. They have managed to put together a more than stellar regular season.

What is a surprise, is the way in which the Wizards “got after” this team and kept the game competitive. The first game was much closer than most expected. The Wizards are not done yet either. Should they be feared?

That’s quite possibly an overstatement, but having said that the Wizards will not lay down for anyone. Rest assured John Wall and company will come calling in this one tonight.

NBA Playoff Live Lines Match Ups and Previews - Scores and Stats

Here is the problem for the Wizards: The Raptors are deep, very deep. They come at their opponent all game long and they never slow down. This team runs a marathon all game long and they are difficult to keep up with. Any letdown from the opponent and they are done…

In game 1, the Raptors had six players that scored in double figures and finished the game with a 114-106 victory with 23 points from Serge Ibaka, (not their best player or season leading scorer).

RealBookies : Build Out Your Kentucky Derby Betting Board with Pay Per Head

"I think their bench was great, especially (Delon Wright) and C.J Miles," said Wizards guard John Wall, who had 23 points and 15 assists. "They played well, made some big shots for them, and that's what they are going to do every game. We've got to make adjustments."

Yes, he is absolutely right. The Wizards must make much needed adjustments if they have any chance tonight. Wright scored 18 points and 11 rebounds in the fourth quarter. Miles was key from the bench and guard Fred Van Vleet was out. Heis questionable for tonight’s contest.

Kyle Lowry poured in 11 points and 9 assists from the bench and featured bench play—outscoring the Wizards 42-21.

America’s Bookie : Kentucky Derby Betting Options at Online Sportsbooks

"You know with Freddie being out I had to play a little more minutes, making a jump," Lowry said. "You know, coach, the last couple weeks of the seasons I've played a few games where I got to 36, 37.

"You know playing that amount of minutes, and playing as hard as I was playing, its fine, but the way we built our team is for everybody to go out there and play many minutes, to play a certain amount of minutes, and we look forward to everybody having an opportunity to play."

The short and skinny:

The Toronto Raptors simply have too much depth for the Wizards to keep up. The Wizards are a talented group, but are slower, and some are even aging. They will not keep up with the raptors tonight so don’t expect it. They were handed a mulligan on Saturday in the first game. They failed to cash in.

There first game was their only hope in Toronto. Tonight will be a different story. This game will be high scoring and the Raptors will have the jitterbugs cut lose!

Prediction: Raptors -6.5, Over 215

All three games on the docket for this Tuesday night are sure to be fun and could be wild. You don’t want to miss a single second of the action. If you are still looking for a great online sportsbook for betting basketball, then do your homework, read the best reviews out there and find someone that you can trust and rely on.

NBA Playoffs Tuesday Free Pick- Milwaukee at Boston

NBA Playoffs 2018

Can Game 2 Live up to Intensity of Game 1 of NBA Playoffs Series

Game 2 of the opening round best-of-seven NBA Playoff clash between the No. 7 Milwaukee Bucks and the No. 2 Boston Celtics is set for Tuesday night. It is a 7:30 p.m. start on TNT from TD Garden.

BetAnySports opened the Celtics as three-point home favorites with the total set at 197.5 points. The line now is Boston as a 2-point favorite. The total has held steady.

The Bucks took Game 1 to overtime, but they came up short in a 113-107 loss as four-point underdogs on the road. They are an even 4-4 straight-up over their las eight road games with a 5-3 record against the spread. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ 200-point total line in Sunday’s loss and it has gone OVER in eight of their last nine games overall.

Bucks Are a Threat in 2018 NBA Playoffs

Both Giannis Antetokounmpo (35 points) and Khris Middleton (31 points) came up big for Milwaukee in Game 1. Malcolm Brogdon added 18 points off the bench as well. Some late-game heroics took this game into overtime before the Bucks were outscored 14-8.

They ended the game shooting 48.2 percent from the field. They connected on eight of their 21 shots from three-point range. None was bigger than Middleton’s three-point bucket to tie the game at the end of regulation.

The shot Killed EVERY Under wager, as the total was 200 with the Celtics up 98-95 with 0.5 seconds left.

Celtics Need to Keep Intensity in NBA Playoffs

Boston should be happy with the win in the series opener given its current injury situation. This game was a bit too close for comfort. The Celtics stumbled down the stretch of the regular season. They had a SU 2-4 record in their last six regular season games. They were an even 3-3 ATS during this same span.

The total has gone OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in seven for their last eight outings, including their last five games at home.

Kyrie Irving is done for the season and Marcus Smart is out for the foreseeable future. Two of Boston’s top scorers this season are on the shelf. In their place on Sunday, four of the Celtics’ five starters scored at least 19 points. They were led by veteran forward Al Horford’s 24 points in the winning effort.

Backup Marcus Morris added 21 more points off the bench. Boston shot 41.5 percent from the field. They connected on 42.3 percent of its 26 shots from three-point range.

Starting backcourt members Terry Rozier had 23 points and Jaylen Brown had 20 points. Wing Jayson Tatum added 19 points. The trio combined for 62 points for the Celtics.

Look for another close battle on Tuesday night. While I am not sure Milwaukee gets out of Boston with a SU win in the first two games, I do like its chances to cover the spread in Game 2.

NBA Playoffs: Golden State and San Antonio Game Two

NBA Playoffs 2018

Spurs Look to Avoid 0-2 Start to NBA Playoffs

The San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors will meet Monday in game two of their NBA Playoffs series. The two perennial powerhouses will square off at Oracle Arena. The Spurs are looking to avoid starting the series down two games to none.

Oddsmakers opened the Warriors as -9.5-point favorites versus the Spurs, while the game's total opened at 207. The line has held pretty steady, but the total is down to 204.5 or 205 at most sportsbooks.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, TNT, FS Southwest (San Antonio), NBCS Bay Area (Golden State)

The Warriors came into the NBA Playoffs injured and slumping. They quickly proved they can flip the switch to playoff mode at a moments notice. They had a dominating Game 1 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.

The Warriors will try to keep the pressure on and get off to another hot start to make it a 2-0 cushion when they host the Spurs in Game 2 on Monday.

Golden State dropped 10 of its last 17 games in the regular season. They struggled on defense during the stretch and in Game One. They tightened things up that end and held the Spurs to 17 first-quarter points.

Spurs Have to Get Offense Going in NBA Playoffs

San Antonio's starting unit was awful and only LaMarcus Aldridge (14 points) scored in double figures among the starting five.

The Spurs shot 40 percent from the floor in Game 1. They managed only three offensive rebounds in the 113-92 shellacking. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich started Rudy Gay in the second half over Kyle Anderson to generate more offense. He could insert Gay into the starting lineup for Game 2.

Coach Pop switched to Pau Gasol at center in the Spurs' turnaround against the Rockets last season. That is a move he also could make Monday, with Gasol having come off the bench in Game 1.

Spurs PG Tony Parker - a career 46.1 percent shooter in 222 postseason games - went 1-of-8 from the floor on Saturday.

Warriors Concentrating on Defense in NBA Playoffs

After leading the NBA in scoring during a 58-win regular season, the Warriors focused on defense in Game 1 of the postseason. Coach Steve Kerr moved Andre Iguodala into the starting lineup. This was an attempt to give the game a defensive tone from the start.

The Spurs shot just 35 percent in the first quarter. They were held to 17 points, falling behind by as many as 14 points. It looks like the strategy worked.

The Spurs finished the game at 40.0 percent from the floor. The Warriors held five opponents below 100 in the playoffs last season. They won all five of games.

The Golden State defense was especially tough on San Antonio star LaMarcus Aldridge. He was held to 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Aldridge also shot 5 of 12 in the Spurs' regular-season finale against New Orleans. That loss that dropped San Antonio into the undesirable first-round matchup with the Warriors.

Aldridge averaged 23.1 points and 18.0 shots from the field during the regular season. JaVale McGee had the defensive assignment on Aldridge. He actually outscored him 9-4 in the Warriors' first-quarter runaway.

NBA Playoffs: NBA Best Rockets Host the TWolves

NBA Playoffs 2018

Timberwolves are not Just Happy to be in NBA Playoffs

The Minnesota Timberwolves will take on the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center. Their first-round NBA Playoffs matchup will be one of the most intriguing of the playoff season.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, TNT, FS North (Minnesota), AT&T SportsNet Southwest (Houston)

Oddsmakers opened the Rockets as -9-point favorites versus the Timberwolves, while the game's total opened at 218.5. The line is now Houston is favored by 11 and the total is down to 215.

Timberwolves Have Been in NBA Playoff Mode for a Week

The Timberwolves needed to scratch their way to an overtime victory on the final day of the regular season to clinch a playoff spot. It was the franchise's first since Kevin Garnett led the team to the 2004 Western Conference finals.

The Timberwolves' reward for that strong finish is a date with the NBA-best Houston Rockets, who host Game 1 of the first-round series on Sunday.

Minnesota has been in playoff mode for well over a week. They had to win its last three regular-season games to stay alive and clinch a spot in the postseason.  All-Star swingman Jimmy Butler leading the way after coming back from knee injury.

Minnesota C Karl-Anthony Towns led the NBA with 68 double-doubles while averaging 21.3 points and 12.3 rebounds. Towns paced the team in points (1,743), rebounds (1,012), blocks (115) and 3-pointers (120).  With Butler in the post, Minnesota might have a pace that could prevent Houston from its usually lethal combo of layups and open 3s.

Matching the Rockets offensively might be as sound a strategy as anything. The Timberwolves trying to defensively contain the Rockets is a tall order. Houston made more 3-pointers (1,256) than any team in NBA history. The Rockets actually attempted more 3s (3,470) than shots from inside the arc (3,446).

Rockets Helter Skelter Offense is Primed for NBA Playoffs

James Harden, who is the odds-on favorite to win his first MVP award, leads the Rockets. He led the league in scoring with an average of 30.4 points and adding 8.8 assists. The difference for the team this year's playoffs is that Harden has help. That help is future Hall of Famer, point guard Chris Paul.

Harden and Chris Paul ranked first and fourth in isolation points per possession. Center Clint Capela paced the league in field goal percentage at 65.2%. He is feasting on a healthy feed of lobs courtesy of the penetration Harden and Paul create. The open inside is because opponents are scrambling to defend the 3-point arc.

The Timberwolves finished 23rd in defensive efficiency during the regular season. Locking down the Rockets this series is a fool's mission. The Rockets are well aware of their potency. The Rockets potential to inflect damage by doing what they usually do is astounding.

NBA Playoffs: Thunder Host Surprising Jazz

NBA Playoffs 2018

Jazz Head Into NBA Playoffs as One of NBA's Hottest Teams

The Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder meet at Chesapeake Energy Arena Sunday afternoon.

TV: 6:30 p.m. ET, TNT, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain (Utah), FS Oklahoma

Oddsmakers opened the Thunder as -3.5-point favorites versus the Jazz, while the game's total opened at 204.5. The line is not OKC -4 and the total is 205.

The Jazz were 19-28 after a loss at Atlanta on Jan. 22. The team stormed back with a 29-6 mark down the stretch to seize the fifth seed in the West.  Their opponent, the Thunder, didn't solidify their place in the playoffs until a win in the next-to-last game of the season.

Jazz are Primed or Upset in NBA Playoffs First Round

Fifth-seeded Utah's turnaround roughly coincided with Rudy Gobert's return from a knee injury and he was dominant at times during the stretch run, averaging 16.6 points on 68.2 percent shooting to go along with 12.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in March.

Utah's turnaround roughly coincided with Gobert's return from a knee injury. He was dominant at times during the stretch run. He averaged 16.6 points on 68.2 percent shooting to go along with 12.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in March.

The 7-foot-1 Gobert will be providing a rim-protecting presence to combat Thunder superstar point guard Russell Westbrook.

Gobert has also taken over as a leader after the departure of Hayward.

Utah leans on dynamic rookie guard Donovan Mitchell from time to time as well. Mitchell averaged 20.5 points in his first season. He did not show any signs of hitting a rookie wall. Mitchell scored above his average in 12 of the final 14 games of the regular season.

Retooled Thunder Look for NBA Playoffs Success

The fourth-seeded Thunder boast a trio of veteran stars. They are led by Russell Westbrook. He averaged a triple-double for the second straight season. The reigning NBA MVP did the same in helping Oklahoma City win three of four matchups with the Jazz. He averaged 22.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 10 assists in the season series.

Following a first-round exit last season during Westbrook's MVP campaign, Oklahoma City brought in forwards Paul George and Carmelo Anthony for support. It took time for the chemistry to develop. They got there and a strong finish has the team feeling pretty good entering the postseason.

The Thunder won 14 of their final 21 games this season. Much of that late success came with the early-March signing of veteran Corey Brewer. He is questionable for the opener due to a sprained knee.

Westbrook rallied late to produce his historic triple-double average for the season again. George heated up offensively down the stretch while averaging 27.6 points and shooting 40.7 percent from 3-point range in April.

Westbrook averaged 37.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, 10.8 assists and 2.4 steals in five games of the first-round series loss to the Houston Rockets last season.
