144th Kentucky Derby Odds: Justify Favored in Post No. 7

Can Justify Break the "Curse" in the 144th Kentucky Derby?

The betting action on the 144th Kentucky Derby has been hot and heavy since Tuesday’s post position draw. Justify has regained his status as the sole favorite for Saturday’s race. His odds dipped from 13/4 after the draw to 7/2 at press time.

Mendelssohn, the former co-favorite, has improved to 4/1. He’ll break from the far end of the main gate at post No. 14, while Justify has a more comfortable draw with post No. 7.

Justify is the horse with the most conversation swirling around him heading into Saturday's Run for the Roses. He tries to become the first horse since Apollo in 1882 to win the despite not racing at age 2.

The reigning Breeders’ Cup Juvenile champion was 11/1 before Tuesday’s draw, then moved up to 9/1 after the draw and again to 8/1 at press time.

Ok NBA fans, you have a conundrum on your hands, who has had a worse showing in the playoffs to this point? The Toronto Raptors or the OKC Thunder? The Thunder were terrible but it seems we have our answer. What the Raptors have done to this point is nothing but stink up the joint and it’s their own joint.

Who would have thought, or much less predicted, the Cavs to show up after a pressing seven game series with the Indiana Pacers? They are putting the screws to the Raptors in the opening two games in Toronto. Just an unbelievable mess the Raptors have found themselves in. It promises to not get easier.

The Raptors can mount a comeback but they are going to need to dig very deep and find some heart. After Thursday’s loss they may not have a whole lot of heart left. Warriors Look for Commanding Lead at Pelicans

Curry Back in Starting Lineup for Warriors

The Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans meet on Friday when they battle at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The Warriors will be looking to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals.  They battle it out on ESPN at 8 pm EST.

Oddsmakers opened the Warriors as -4-point favorites versus the Pelicans, while the game's total opened at 230.5. The line is now Golden State -4.5 and the total is 233.

Warriors Have been in Total Control

Golden State star guard Stephen Curry will be back in the starting lineup in tonight's game 3. Curry injured his left knee on march 23 and returned to action on Tuesday. He scored 28 points off the bench in the warriors' 121-116 victory.

Curry will play more than the 27 minutes he received in game 2 as well. He didn't appear to be rusty at all. He drained five 3-pointers and collected seven rebounds in a strong effort. He helped the Warriors take a 2-0 series lead.

Draymond Green fell one rebound short of his second straight triple-double. He is averaging 18 points, 12 rebounds and 11.5 assists in the series.

Klay Thompson had just 10 points on 4-of-20 shooting in game 2 after scoring 27 in the opener.

As Expected, Davis Leading Pelicans

Anthony Davis is averaging 23 points and 12.5 rebounds through the first two games to lead the Pelicans. New Orleans may need an explosion from him in game 3 to keep them in it. It needs to be similar to the 47-point effort he posted in the final game of the first-round series against Portland.

Jrue Holiday was solid with 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in game 2. He struggled to 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting in the opener. Rajon Rondo continued his strong postseason showing. He had 22 points and 12 assists in game 2 and he is averaging 12.7 points and 12.7 assists in six playoff games.

New Orleans outscored Golden State 66-38 in the paint. The Pelicans could not get to the free-throw line though. Golden State has a 59-20 edge in free-throw attempts. Davis and Holiday never attempted a free throw in Game 2.

Tomlin Struggling for Indians So Far in 2018

Tomlin has struggled mightily in three of his first four starts of 2018. The last two he has allowed 11 runs and 17 hits over 9 2/3 innings Not surprisingly, both ended in defeats.

The 33-year-old Texas Tech product has served up 10 homers. Six in his last two outings. Those 10 HR's came across 18 2/3 innings. Opponents are batting .360 against him. Tomlin went 10-9 with 23 homers allowed in 141 innings last year.

The Indians managed to earn a split of a weather-delayed doubleheader at home against Toronto on Thursday. They took the second game 13-4 after coughing up a lead in the opener. They suffered a 13-11 defeat in 11 innings.

Francisco Lindor knocked in six runs in the twin-bill. He is 14-for-31 with three home runs during his six-game hitting streak.

The hurler is 3-3 with a 5.79 in eight career games (seven starts) versus the Yankees.

The NHL Playoffs Western Conference Semifinal matchup between the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets has come as advertised. The top two teams in the NHL have treated fans to back-and-forth offense, riveting comebacks and overtime heroics.

NHL Playoffs: Pens-Caps in Another Heated Battle

Pens and Caps Look to Take Control in NHL Playoffs

The Pittsburgh Penguins have went thru the NHL Playoffs and won five Stanley Cups. Each time, they eliminated the Washington Capitals along the way. They’re at it again in the Second Round of the 2018 NHL playoffs.

Oddsmakers have as a -176-moneyline favorites. The total is sitting at 6 Under -114.

Pittsburgh split the first two games in DC. They’ll host Game 4 this Thursday at 7 PM ET on NBCSN. The Penguins are –135 favorites to win the series. They are the sixth-favorites at +600 to win their third straight Cup.

The Capitals are +115 to win the series, and seventh out of the eight remaining teams at +750.

The Caps blew a two-goal lead in the third period of the series opener that stung. Washington came back to take Game 2 on Sunday, winning 4-1 as –145 home favorites. NBA Playoff Semifinals are Off and Toronto is the Epicenter

The NBA Playoffs are heating up and round two has featured better than great games. The Cavaliers stole the first game in Toronto and that changes the landscape of this series completely. What was once thought of to be the Raptors series to lose has turned into the Raptors needing a “must win” on Thursday.

Tuesday night’s game was a battle the entire way and the fourth quarter was fierce. These two went after each other all quarter long in an effort to get the upper hand, neither team was backing down and overtime was just as good.

Curry Set to Make 2018 NBA Playoffs Debut Tonight

The Golden State Warriors got off to a flying start in their second-round Western Conference series with the New Orleans Pelicans, winning 123-101. The two will meet for Game 2 in Oakland on Tuesday. Tip-off is at 10:30 PM ET.

It appears Golden State star guard Stephen Curry will be back in action on Tuesday. Curry hasn't played since spraining the MCL in his left knee on March 23. Curry participated in a lengthy scrimmage on Sunday and had no issues during Monday's practice.

According to coach Steve Kerr, Curry will “very likely play Tuesday.”

NBA Playoffs Tuesday Free Pick- Cleveland at Toronto Game 1

Eastern Conference Semifinals All Underway in NBA Playoffs

The NBA Playoffs are well underway and tonight one of the most anticipated series kicks off. The best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors kicks off.

Game 1 should be a good measuring stick of each teams status after their 1st round matchups.

VietBet opened the Raptors as six-point home favorites and the total for the 8 p.m. tip on TNT has been set at 218 points. The line now has settled at Toronto -7 and the total at 215.

Cavaliers Have Been Awful ATS in the NBA Playoffs

Cleveland needed the full seven games to get past Indiana in the opening round. Home team won each game straight-up. The Cavs failed to cover as a 5.5-point home favorite in Sunday’s 105-101 victory in Game 7. They fell to 1-6 against the spread in the postseason.

The total went OVER 200.5 points in that game after staying UNDER in five of the first six games against the Pacers. The Cavaliers open this series with a 4-2 record ATS in their last six road games.

The only reason why Cleveland is in this series as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference is because of LeBron James. He was a one-man wrecking ball against Indiana. His stats over all seven games were an average of 34.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 7.7 assists. He scored 45 points in Game 7 while going 16-for-25 from the field.

He posted a double-double in points and rebounds in the first five games of that series.

Raptors Made Easy Work of Wizards in Opening Round

The Raptors went a perfect 3-0 SU and ATS at home in their opening playoff series. They were able to eliminate Washington in six games. They were also 4-2 ATS in that series. The total stayed UNDER the VietBet closing line in the last three games. The total went OVER in the first three contests.

Toronto was tied with Houston for the best SU record at home in the regular season at 34-7 and it was 24-19-1 ATS.

DeMar DeRozan led the Raptors in scoring all season long with an average of 23.0 points per game. He had the hot hand against the Wizards with a26.7 PPG average. Toronto averaged 109.2 points over the six games. That was a few points less than a 111.7 PPG average that was ranked fourth in the NBA in the regular season.

The Raptors gave up 113.3 points over the first four games against Washington. The Toronto defense held the Wizards to fewer than 100 points in the final two games.

Cleveland has yet to prove it can win a playoff game on the road. I am laying the seven points and sticking with Toronto both SU and ATS on Tuesday night.
