SEC Championship: Georgia Bulldogs vs Alabama Crimson Tide

SEC Championship Football Game

Crimson Tide and Bulldogs Battle for SEC Supremacy

The Georgia Bulldogs will be looking for revenge against the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday afternoon in Atlanta. Both teams return to the spot where Alabama snatched the 2017 National Championship away from the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime. The SEC Championship Game should provide a lot of fireworks on both sides of the football.

TV: 4 p.m. ET, CBS.

LINE: Alabama -13; O/U: 63.5.

Top-ranked Alabama will undoubtedly be part of the four-team College Football Playoff. Fourth-ranked Georgia isn't a lock, as of now, as the two squads prepare for Saturday's SEC championship game at Atlanta. The Bulldogs can clinch a CFP spot by beating the Crimson Tide. A loss would almost ensure they are left out in the cold.

The two squads met in last season's national title game. Alabama prevailed 26-23 in overtime in what was the coming out party for Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The lefty came off the bench to throw three touchdown passes.

"He can sit in the pocket and make every throw," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said during a press conference. "He's very confident, and he's got a presence about him in the pocket. He doesn't fear rush; if he's got guys bearing down on him, he sidesteps and gets the ball out, and that's what makes him very special."

Alabama has been dominant all season. Head Coach Nick Saban is very wary of Smart and the Bulldogs. Smart used to be the Tide's defensive coordinator.

"Georgia is one of the most complete teams in the country," Saban said at a press conference. "I think Kirby's done a fantastic job there in terms of taking the players that were there and developing them in the style that he wants and doing a great job of recruiting to get new players to come and buy into their system. This is going to be the biggest challenge we've had to date."

The Dawgs are Ground Oriented and Bama Throws More than Usual

Alabama is 12-0 on the season and 8-0 in the SEC.

Tagovailoa has thrown a school-record 36 touchdown passes. He only has two interceptions on the season. The athletic lefty fuels an offense averaging 49 points per game.

Jerry Jeudy is enjoying a standout season with 56 receptions for 1,079 and 11 touchdowns. Fellow receiver DeVonta Smith has 27 receptions on the season. He will forever be remembered in Alabama lore for catching the game-winning 41-yard touchdown pass in the national championship game.

The Crimson Tide give up an average of 13.8 points per game. Nose guard Quinnen Williams leads the way and has recorded a team-leading 16 tackles for loss. and Defensive end Isaiah Buggs notching a team-best 9.5 sacks.

Georgia is 11-1 on the season and 7-1 in the conference.

Quarterback Jake Fromm was intercepted twice in last season's title game, but has been picked off just five times this season. He has passed for 2,236 yards and 24 touchdowns.

The attack that produces an average of 40.1 points per game and also relies on two standout running backs. D'Andre Swift has 962 yards and nine touchdowns. Elijah Holyfield has 896 yards and seven scores.

The defense allows an average of 17.2 points per game. Linebacker D'Andre Walker has a team-high 6.5 sacks. Safety Richard LeCounte has a team-leading 64 tackles to lead the way.

WR Mecole Hardman leads the SEC with a 21.8 average on punt returns. He has one touchdown. Hardman also averages 26.2 yards on kickoff returns.

PREDICTION: Georgia 37, Alabama 27

Nuggets go for 5th Straight Win as Blazers Rebound

A winning streak will be on the line for the Denver Nuggets on Friday Night when they battle the Portland Trail Blazers at Moda Center. This should be a competitive game from start to finish as both teams have good defense and can score when necessary.

TV: 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, Altitude (Denver), NBCS Northwest (Portland)

LINE: Blazers -2; O/U: 212.

Damian Lillard made a franchise-record ten 3-pointers in his last game. He figures to receive plenty of attention from the Denver defense when the on Friday. Lillard scored 41 points in Wednesday's 115-112 victory over the Orlando Magic. The Trail Blazers halted a three-game slide.

Lillard was 10-of-15 from 3-point range against Orlando. It broke a slump of 14-of-52 over the previous six games. His dead-eye marksmanship highlighted his fourth 40-point outing of the season.

Denver is beginning a five-game road trip. They are riding a four-game winning streak after Wednesday's 117-85 ass-whipping of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nuggets are 14-7 on the season and looking to make it 15 wins.

Spurs Host the Rockets in Friday NBA Action

Spurs Basketball

Rockets Look to Get on Track Against the Spurs

Divisional bragging rights will be on the line on Friday when the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs meet at AT&T Center. The Rockets are one of the league's biggest disappointments. They will look to halt a four-game slide when they visit the Spurs.

Houston has allowed an average of 124 points during the skid and was lambasted 128-108 by the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN, AT&T SportsNet Southwest (Houston), KENS (San Antonio)

LINE: Rockets -2: O/U: 217.

James Harden isn't overly concerned about the bad defense. He pointed out the team endured a four-game losing streak earlier in the season before winning eight of its next 10.

"We've done it already," Harden told reporters after Wednesday's loss. "We went through a tough stretch, and then we regrouped and won five in a row - and we looked really good. We've just got to figure it out. We've got a lot of new guys, and it's only 20 games into the season. We've got 60 more to go."

Harden recorded 25 points and season highs of 17 assists and 11 rebounds against the Mavericks for his first triple-double of the season. It was the 36th in his career. His productivity couldn't keep Houston in a game in which point guard Chris Paul (hamstring) missed. He missed his third straight game and the bench got outscored 61-25.

San Antonio is also coming off a forgettable outing. They only scored nine second-quarter points while being bitch-slapped 128-89 by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

The San Antonio starters combined for only 35 points. The low output led to being routed by the Timberwolves. LaMarcus Aldridge and shooting guard DeMar DeRozan leading the way with 10 apiece. DeRozan's output was a season low.

Aldridge recorded 27 points and 10 rebounds as the Spurs posted a 96-89 home win over the Rockets on Nov. 10.

Pac-12 Championship: Utah Utes vs Washington Huskies

Pac-12 Championship Football Game

Defense May Reign Supreme in Pac-12 Championship Game

Without decorated quarterbacks Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Luke Falk barking signals, the Pac-12 took on a more defensive tone in 2018. That's certainly reflected in tonight's Pac-12 championship game. The showdown at Levi's Stadium pits No. 17 Utah Utes against No. 11 Washington Huskies.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, FOX.

LINE: Washington -5; O/U: 45.

Both teams boast top-20 defenses in the FBS in total D and scoring D.  The Huskies are allowing 311.3 yards and 16.5 points and the Utes only allowing 315.8 yards and 19.3 points per game.

Washington will be playing in its second Pac-12 title game in three years. Utah is making its first appearance since joining the conference in 2011.

"It's our first trip to the championship, and I'm proud of our guys for continuing to persevere and fight this season," Utes coach Kyle Whittingham said at his Monday media gathering. "We overcame so many obstacles and so much adversity. They are a great group to be around, and this has been one of the most enjoyable years of coaching for me."

Both Teams Have Something to Prove in Pac-12 Championship

The Utah Utes are 9-3 on the season and feel they have something to prove after suffering late season Injuries.

The adversity Whittingham was talking about centers on the early-November injury losses of starting quarterback Tyler Huntley and tailback Zack Moss. The duo had accounted for 84 percent of the Utes' total offense in the first nine games.

Freshman Jason Shelley has stepped in at quarterback. He's averaged only 208 passing yards over the last three contests. Shelley has also rushed for 112 yards and accounted for six touchdowns with no turnovers.

Defensively, safety-turned-linebacker Chase Hansen has notched a conference-most 22 tackles for loss to pace a unit. The squad has been the Pac-12's stingiest against the run with 100.3 yards allowed , which also ranks fifth nationally.

The Utes figure to have the edge in the kicking game. They rank in the top 14 nationally in field goals made (23) and net-putting average (40.6).

The Washington Huskies are 9-3 on the season as well and feel they have underachieved with the record they have. They felt they had a College Football Playoff team.

The Huskies have the advantage of health and experience. Just in the backfield they have the senior duo of Jake Browning and tailback Myles Gaskin.

Browning averaged a career-low 224.3 passing yards this season. He is the school's career passing yards leader and Pac-12's all-time winningest quarterback.

Gaskin is averaging 107.6 yards on the ground and is the school's all-time leader in rushing yards and touchdowns.

Senior linebacker Ben Burr-Kirven is tied for the lead nationally with 155 tackles. He leads a defense which ranks second in the conference against the run at 121.8 yards allowed per game and passing at 189.4 yards per game.

With a 21-7 road win at Utah on Sept. 15, Washington has won five of the six meetings since Utah entered the Pac-12. Gaskin rushed for 143 yards and a TD on 30 carries. The Huskies' defense forced three turnovers and had a trio of fourth-down stops.

PREDICTION: Washington 23, Utah 13

Thursday NFL: New Orleans Saints vs Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys NFL

Resilient Cowboys Host Surging Saints

The leaders of the NFC South and NFC East clash this Thursday, with Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys welcoming Drew Brees’ New Orleans Saints to town. Tonight's contest will kick off Week 13 NFL action. Each game become more and more important as the playoffs inch closer.

TV: 8:20 p.m. ET, FOX, NFL Network.

LINE: Saints -7 O/U: 51.5.

Thanksgiving Thursday was a big day for both of these clubs. With a win over the Washington Redskins that resulted in Dallas overtaking the NFC East, they’ll be riding high against the league’s top team this Thursday.

Drew Brees is an early favorite for NFL Most Valuable Player this season. The 39-year-old isn’t slowing down. The veteran leads all starting QB's with a 127.3 QB rating. He has guided his offense to a league-best 37.2 points per game clip through 12 weeks.

Following the Saints’ 31-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, New Orleans owns a 10-1 record and a stranglehold on the NFL South.

The Saints are on the verge of clinching the NFC South. They’ve covered nine straight games after getting off to a slow start against the spread. Nobody has been better poised to take advantage of the league’s new offense-friendly rules. New Orleans has one of the very best attacks in the NFL.

The Saints have a league low-tying nine turnovers, one fewer than the Cowboys.

One thing the Saints’ defense can do well is stuff the run.

That’s bad news for the Cowboys, who rely heavily on RB Ezekiel Elliott. He is averaging 4.9 yards per carry since his return. He runs behind an offensive line that’s been compromised by multiple injuries. Dallas hope to have LT Tyron Taylor back in action this week after he sat out Thanksgiving Day with neck and elbow issues.

Dallas is in the midst of resurrecting their season. Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper look to exploit New Orleans' 30th-ranked pass defense after the pair hooked up for two long touchdown passes against the Redskins.

Prescott has a rushing score in each of his last three games. Cooper joined Kansas City speedster Tyreek Hill in by having his second 180-yard, two-touchdown performance in the last two seasons with his sterling effort versus Washington.

DE Demarcus Lawrence has three of his team-leading 8.5 sacks in the last four games.

PREDICTION: Saints 34, Cowboys 14

ACC/Big Ten Challenge: Michigan State vs Louisville

ACC/Big-Ten Challenge

The Annual Showcase is a Fan Favorite

The Michigan State Spartans and the Louisville Cardinals will meet on Tuesday at KFC Yum! Center. The Spartans looks to extend its winning streak to six games as they play in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The No. 8 Spartans are coming off a title at the Las Vegas Invitational. They beat UCLA and No. 17 Texas on consecutive nights. The Cardinals have dropped two straight. They lost to No. 7 Tennessee and Marquette in overtime at the NIT Season Tip-Off in Brooklyn.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

LINE: Michigan State -5; O/U: 154.5.

Michigan State guard Cassius Winston runs the show for coach Tom Izzo. He is coming off an MVP performance at the Las Vegas Invitational, where he averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 assists. Winston's back-court mate, Joshua Langford, averages a team-best 18.5 points. He had a career-high 29 points in the Spartans' come-from-behind victory over Texas.

Sophomore forward Jordan Nwora has been the top point producer for Louisville this season by averaging 18.4 points and a team-best 7.2 rebounds. This is despite coming off the bench in every game.

Coach Chris Mack uses 10 players on a regular basis. Each of them averaging at least 12.3 minutes, and the Cardinals are averaging 40.6 points from reserves this season.

Spartans Just Reload and Cardinals in Transition

The Michigan State Spartans are 5-1 on the young season. Kenny Goins averages the fewest points of any of Izzo's five starters with 6.8 per game. He may be one of the most important players for the Spartans in many different areas. The team's leading rebounder at nine per game, Goins is one of the better defenders on the squad. He'll likely get the key assignment of trying to slow down Nwora in this contest.

Though he's shooting only 28.6 percent from 3-point range, Goins has expanded his game to include a long jumper. It gives the Spartans another player to kick it out to off post-ups by forward Nick Ward or drives to the hoop by Winston or Langford.

Louisville is 3-2 on the season and playing well in tonight's game could be a huge boost.

Louisville has been able to get to the free-throw line often this season. They have made 26 more free throws than its opponents have attempted. Working the ball inside could be a key factor against a Michigan State team that doesn't feature a shot-blocker. Last year they featured Jaren Jackson Jr. They cover the perimeter as well as any team in the country, allowing opponents to shoot 31.1 percent from 3-point range.

Nwora, forward V.J. King, forward Malik Williams and center Steven Enoch are all averaging at least four trips to the free-throw line per game. They'll need to have that aggressiveness to get some easy points and slow down the Michigan State transition game.

Louisville has won 49 straight home games in the month of November spanning the last 28 seasons, including 36 at the KFC Yum! Center.

PREDICTION: Michigan State 82, Louisville 73

MNF: Tennessee Titans vs Houston Texans

Houston Texans Football

Surging Texans Look to Take Control of AFC South

The Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans will meet on Monday Night Football at NRG Stadium.

Their ugly start to the season is now a distant memory. The Houston Texans can set a franchise record on Monday night Football. The Texans own a two-game lead atop the AFC South. They will go for their eighth consecutive victory after opening the season with three straight losses, including a 20-17 setback at Tennessee in Week 2.

TV: 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN.

LINE: Texans -4 O/U: 42.5

Surging Houston is coming off consecutive two-point triumphs at Washington and Denver. That gives the team four victories by three points or fewer during its winning streak.

"We just try to keep on stacking wins and put us in position for later on down the season," Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson told reporters. "It's a very important game. It's a home game. We want to win those. It's a division game. We have to make sure we prepare well and get ready for it."

The Titans squandered a chance to make Monday's matchup a showdown for division supremacy. They followed a pair of decisive wins over Dallas and New England with a 38-10 loss to Indianapolis last week (as the Titans were +2 point underdog).

Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota was knocked out of that game with a stinger, but he practiced fully on Friday and Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur pronounced him "ready to roll."

Titans Need a Win Tonight Against the Texans

The 5-5 Titans are a befuddling team so far this year. Marcus Mariota had his two best games in the wins over the Cowboys and Patriots. It was feared that last week's injury was related to the elbow issues that have plagued him for most of the season. It forced him to miss the Week 2 matchup versus Houston.

Running back Derrick Henry, who was used out of the wildcat in the first meeting, could be in line for a heavier workload as part of a backfield tandem with Dion Lewis.

Corey Davis is Mariota's top target with 45 receptions. It's unclear if fellow wideout Taywan Taylor will return after a two-game absence.

Tennessee had the NFL's top-ranked scoring defense until it was shredded by the Colts.

The 7-3 Texans have improved play each week their franchise QB has after coming back from injury. Watson had his NFL coming-out party against Tennessee last season in his third career start. He threw for four touchdowns and rushed for another as Houston set a franchise record for points in a 57-14 rout.

He has not thrown for more than 239 yards in his last five starts and the Texans have scored more than 23 points just twice. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has at least one TD catch in five straight games and eight overall after posting an NFL-high 13 receiving scores last season.

Running back Lamar Miller is providing balance to the offense with at least 18 carries and 86 yards rushing in three of the last four games.

The Texans are fifth in scoring defense (20.5 points).

Hopkins has at least 100 yards in three of his last four versus Tennessee, including 110 and a TD in Week 2.

J.J. Watt has registered 10 sacks on the season, including one in each of his last three games.

PREDICTION: Texans 23, Titans 20
