The Finals: Warriors vs. Raptors Game 5

Stanley Cup Finals of 2019

Warriors Look to Rebound with Thompson Back

The Golden State Warriors may find themselves on the brink of elimination after Game 4 tonight if they don't watch it. The Toronto Raptors have opened up a 2-1 lead in this best-of-seven series. After they play Game 4 on the Raptors will return home to Scotiabank Arena for Monday’s matchup. Two of the last three are in Canada.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ABC, TSN (Toronto) LINE: Warriors -4.5; O/U: 215.

With Klay Thompson (hamstring) active but not playing, and both Kevin Durant (calf) and Kevon Looney (collarbone) unavailable, the Warriors were at a clear disadvantage during Wednesday’s Game 3. They were still 4.5-point home favorites at the close. Toronto outlasted the Warriors 123-109 despite a 47-point effort from Stephen Curry. The Raptors have held Golden State to 109 points in their last two victories.

Thompson was lobbying the team to let him to play Wednesday, but it didn't work. The Warriors decided to keep him as healthy as possible for a potential return in Game 4. Durant’s status is out and Looney is out indefinitely. For the second straight game, OG Anunoby was active for Toronto, but didn’t see the floor as the Raptors went seven deep for most of the night. Kawhi Leonard led the way with 30 points on 9-of-17 shooting.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

Leonard had his 13th 30-point outing of the postseason for the Raptors. He continues to carry a franchise that now stands two wins away from its first NBA title. One guy who has been feeling it is shooting guard Danny Green, as usual in the playoffs. He scored 18 points on six 3-pointers in Game 3 and is 11-for-22 from behind the arc in the series. Kyle Lowry scored 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting in Game 3 after averaging just 10 points on 6-of-20 shooting over the previous two games.

Guard Stephen Curry was a one-man show in Game 3 for the Warriors. He poured in 47 points for his sixth career playoff 40-point outing. He also contributed eight rebounds and seven assists. DeMarcus Cousins is recently back from a quadriceps injury. It shows as he is averaging just six points on 4-of-17 shooting in the series. Golden State investor Mark Stevens has been banished from the rest of the NBA Finals. he was banned from attending games for the entire 2019-20 season and fined $500,000 by the NBA. This was after intentionally pushing Lowry and showering him with obscenities when the latter flew into the stands chasing a loose ball in Game 3.

The Dart Throw: Warriors 118, Raptors 112

Game 5 of Stanley Cup Finals Tonight

Blues and Bruins Locked in Epic Battle

The NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals is turning out to be everything fans were hoping for. It has been a back-and-forth battle between equally matched teams. The Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues will continue their epic dual this Thursday when the clubs get set for Game 5 from Boston. The best-of-seven series is now down to a best-of-three. That means each game carries tremendous importance. A significant question mark that looms over the Boston Bruins is the status of team captain Zdeno Chara. The 42-year-old defenseman blocked a shot from Blues’ forward Brayden Schenn in the second period of Game 4 and the puck hit Chara in the face and broke his jaw.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC, Sportsnet, TVAS LINE: Bruins -1.5 +180, -145 moneyline; O/U: 5.5 Under -142.

Depending on Chara’s status, Boston’s lineup could look very different come game time. They’re already patching holes on their defense, with injuries to Matt Grzelcyk and Kevan Miller. It’ll be next man up for the B’s. We’ll get a real sense of this team’s depth if Chara can’t suit up for Game 5.

St. Louis will attempt to take advantage of the Bruins’ short-handedness with a game on the road. They’re proving that running four lines is necessary for maintaining a healthy competitive roster. They split the first two games in TD Garden and will be eager to get the advantage by stealing another in Boston.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

The Blues were manhandled by the Bruins 7-2 in Game 3 at St. Louis, but they bounced back with fury. Coach Craig Berube termed it a "relentless" effort to earn the franchise's first-ever home win in the Stanley Cup Finals. Although Boston could be without Chara the team's confidence remains high heading back to TD Garden. They have lost consecutive games only once in the playoffs. No reason they should think it could happen now.

Ryan O'Reilly broke out of a rut in a big way for the Blues. He ended an eight-game goal drought by scoring in the first minute. Then he put on an exclamation point by delivering the game-winning tally in the third period. The Blues' fourth line of Oskar Sundqvist, Alexander Steen and Ivan Barbashev each logged more than 17 minutes and were matched up against Boston's top line in Game 4. The trio held their own and that kept the team close enough to have a chance at the victory. St. Louis is 8-3 on the road in the playoffs, including a 3-2 overtime win in Game 2.

Boston's top line usually sets the tone offensively. Tonight should be no different. The No. 2 unit of Jake DeBrusk, David Krejci and David Backes has been mired in a slump lately. They have combined for only two assists in the series. That will have to change, especially if they are playing wihtout Chara. D Matt Grzelcyk has been out the past two games. He practiced in a non-contact jersey Wednesday but remains in the concussion protocol. Bruins third-line C Charlie Coyle has scored in three straight games.

The Dart Throw: Bruins 4, Blues 3

MLB Wednesday: Jays Host Yankees

Toronto Blue Jays

Yankees Look to Continue Series Winning Streak Against Jays

This Wednesday, the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees will play the second game of a three-game set in Toronto. New York holds a 2.5 game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East. They are coming off of a series victory over the Boston Red Sox, and a game one loss to the Blue Jays.

TV: 7:07 p.m. ET, YES (New York), SportsnetOne, Sportsnet360 (Toronto); LINE: Yankees -188; O/U: 8 1/2 -110.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees LH James Paxton (3-2, 2.81 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH Trent Thornton (1-4, 4.53)

The Yankees have won nine consecutive series for the first time in 21 years. That streak could be in jeopardy tonight. The Yankees have also lost back-to-back games for the first time in over a month by dropping a 4-3 decision in the series opener last night.

Clint Frazier had a nightmarish game in right field that contributed to Sunday's 8-5 loss to Boston. He atoned somewhat with a two-run homer Tuesday for New York. Aaron Hicks also homered and added a double to halt a 12-game drought without an extra-base hit for the Yankees. What did the Bronx-Bombers in was they were 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Freddy Galvis was hitless in 12 at-bats over his previous three games, but he clubbed a two-run homer to help Toronto snap a six-game losing streak. Randal Grichuk also homered, which was a welcome sight. He was 2-for-23 on the six-game road trip. The Blue Jays are in position to post back-to-back wins for the first time since April 27-28.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

Paxton is making his return to the rotation for the Yankees. He was sidelined for nearly four weeks with an ailing knee. Paxton did not allow a hit and struck out seven in his last outing. He threw four scoreless innings in a no-decision against San Diego a week ago. He closed out April with three strong outings by striking out 32 and allowing three runs and 10 hits over 19 2/3 innings. Paxton is a pedestrian 3-3 with a 4.54 ERA in six starts versus the Blue Jays. He did throw a no-hitter at Rogers Centre while with Seattle in May 2018. New York is hoping to get star shortstop Didi Gregorius back from injury sometime during this road trip, so Toronto fans could see his first action of the season. 2B DJ LeMahieu has hit safely in nine straight games.

The Blue Jays will counter with Thornton. He did not factor in the decision for his third straight start last time out at Tampa Bay. He lasted 4 2/3 innings and giving up three runs on seven hits with three walks. The rookie was solid in his previous two starts. He struck out a career-best 10 and allowed three runs in six innings versus San Diego on May 24th. This was after yielding one run on three hits over six innings at the Chicago White Sox. He is facing the Yankees for the first time. Thornton has a 0-3 record with a 6.23 ERA in six starts at home. 2B Eric Sogard is 5-for-9 in the past two games.

The Finals: Raptors vs. Warriors Game 3

The Finals 2019 Raptors vs Warriors

Can Warriors Take Control of Series With Injury Issues?

The NBA Finals have swung back towards the defending champions. The Golden State Warriors dug deep to win Game 2 on Sunday. The win squared this best-of-seven series at 1-1. The next two games will be in Oakland, but an injured Klay Thompson my determine how they go.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ABC, Sportsnet One (Toronto) LINE: Warriors -4.5; O/U: 213.5

The Warriors opened as 5.5-point favorites and it moved to –6 for a while, but the line seems to have settled at -4.5 most everywhere. Thompson has declared himself ready, but the Warriors medical staff said Kevin Durant will not be cleared play. Durant is still recovering from the strained calf he suffered during the second round. After receiving MRI's, Klay Thompson is officially listed as probably for tonight after tweaking his hamstring on Sunday. Kevon Looney is out indefinitely in what is now being called a fractured collarbone.

Toronto escaped Game 2 with their health, if not the victory. They shot just 37.2% from the floor and 28.9% from downtown. OG Anunoby was active for the first time in these playoffs after undergoing an emergency appendectomy in early April. Kawhi Leonard is hobbled somewhat by a sore left knee, but has continued to play at a high level. Leonard had 34 points and 14 rebounds in Game 2 and is averaging 28.5 points and 11 rebounds while continuing to carry the team in the postseason.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

Toronto let an opportunity get away in Game 2 with it's poor shooting. The trio of Leonard (8-of-20), power forward Pascal Siakam (5-of-18) and point guard Kyle Lowry (4-of-11) were all missing their shooting touch. Siakam had just 12 points after putting up 32 on 14-of-17 shooting in the opener. They blew several 10+ point leads up until the Warriors roared back near the end of the 3rd quarter. Fred VanVleet has put up efforts of 15 and 17 points in the first two games. He is averaging 16 over the past five games.

Warriors PG Stephen Curry is averaging 28.5 points in the series but is just 14-of-35 from the field. Thompson led the Warriors with 25 points in Game 2. He has shot 7-for-12 on 3-point attempts in the series. It was his defense that helped the Warriors the most. He was part of an improved collective effort by Golden State that turned a 118-109 loss in Game 1 into a series-tying win. Golden State had near-identical offensive numbers in the first two games. They scored 109 points in both games. The Warriors shot 43.6 percent overall and 38.7 percent on 3-pointers in the loss. They then shot 46.3 percent overall and 38.2 percent on 3-pointers in the win.

Sportsbook Report on Klay Thompson Injury

While the Golden State Warriors were cruising towards a win in the second half of Game 2, one of their key players went down in the fourth quarter. In fact, the Klay Thompson injury was due to an awkward landing after trying a three-point shot.

According to sportsbook pay per head reports, an MRI showed that the Klay Thompson injury is a hamstring strain. As a result, he is questionable for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Although he wants to play in the next game, the final decision depends on how his body responds before the game.

After the Warriors won Game 2, Coach Steve Kerr said that Thompson told him that his injury is nothing to worry about. However, the forward also said that it is difficult to tell if he will be ready for the next game.

Klay Thompson Injury and other Warriors Injuries

The Warriors are already suffering from several injuries. Kevon Looney had a good start but missed most of Game 2 after falling awkwardly in the first quarter. It turned out he has a fractured collarbone. In addition, he will not be available indefinitely.

Sportsbook Report on Klay Thompson Injury

Andre Iguodala had to go to the locker room right away at the end of the first half after he knocked into Toronto’s Marc Gasol. The good news is he returned in the second half. In addition, he scored the game-winning 3-pointer.

Kevin Durant is still out due to a calf injury. In fact, he missed the first two games of the NBA finals. Sportsbook pay per head for agents is expecting him not to play in the next game. However, Coach Kerr surprised everyone by saying Durant might be ready to play if he takes part in one team practice.

In addition, the coach said that the team is taking the Durant situation one day at a time. They don’t want to hurry the player’s recovery.

Stanley Cup Finals: Bruins at Blues Game 4 Free Pick

Stanley Cup Finals of 2019

Bruins Hold a 2-1 Series Edge over Blues

This year’s Stanley Cup Finals moves to St. Louis for Monday’s Game 4 with the Boston Bruins holding the 2-1 series edge. The Blues have been opened as -120 home favorites for the 8 p.m. start on NBC. BetAnySports online sportsbook has set the total line for this game at 5.5 goals.

Boston regained the series edge with Saturday’s 7-2 road win as a even-money +100 underdog. This followed a 4-2 win at home in Game 1 as a -165 favorite. The Bruins lost the next game at home 3-2 in overtime as -170 favorites on BetAnySports’ closing line. The total has gone OVER in two of the first three games. The loss in Game 2 was their only setback in their last 10 postseason games.

Led by Patrice Bergeron’s goal and two assists on Saturday, Boston stormed out to a 4-0 lead early in the second period that it never relinquished. He continues to lead the team in postseason goals with nine. Both Brad Marchand and David Pastmak have tallied eight goals in 20 playoff games this season. The Bruins are averaging 3.5 goals a game. Tuukka Rask has gone the distance in goal and his goals-against average in those 20 starts is just 1.91 with a stellar .939 save percentage.

Please Read our Review on BetAnySports and Take Advantage of all they Offer!!

St. Louis went down two games to one in its last series against San Jose before winning the next three games by a combined score of 12-2. It will need to find a way to keep Boston off the scoreboard this Monday night to get that much needed win at home in Game 4. The Blues are 5-6 at home in 11 playoff games. The total has gone OVER in three of their last four home games.

Blues’ goalie Jordan Binnington was pulled in the second period of Game 3 after allowing five goals on 19 shots. In his place, Jake Allen gave up one goal on the four shots on goal he faced. Left winger Jaden Schwartz has been the top goal scorer for St. Louis in the postseason with 12 goals. He also leads the team in total points (18). Vladimir Tarasenko is second on the list with 10 goals in 22 playoff games, but neither player tallied a score in Saturday’s lopsided loss.

Boston brings some solid momentum into Game 4 coming off Saturday’s dominating performance. I still think that the Blues find a way to get the win at home to even the series at two games apiece.

The Finals: Warriors vs. Raptors Game 2

The Finals 2019 Raptors vs Warriors

Warriors Stunned by Raptors in Game One of NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors will meet in Game Two of The Finals at Scotiabank Arena. Pascal Siakam turned into the Cameroon Assassin in Game One and led the Raptors to one of the biggest wins in Franchise history. Many fans think Game One was a fluke, but I don't think you will find any Warriors players, or true fans, that believe that is the case. Golden State has some solace. As bad as they played, and shot, at times during the game they still had a chance to win the game until the last 3 minutes.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ABC LINE: Raptors -2.5; O/U: 213.

Toronto shot 50.6 percent from the floor in the opener. They got strong performances from the aforementioned Siakam, Kawhi Leonard and Marc Gasol in the 118-109 Game One victory. The Warriors are still missing superstar Kevin Durant with his calf injury. Now swingman Andre Iguodala is banged up with a calf problem.

Golden State was 6-0 without Durant, including the game in which he was injured against Houston, before falling in Game One. They are not going to rush him back before he's ready. Stephen Curry led the way with 34 points and Klay Thompson added 21 points. Draymond Green recorded a triple-double, but no other Warriors player reached double figures. That has to change. Green also has to step up his defense on Siakam as well. The Warriors expect more from Cousins tonight as well. Cousins, who had been out with a quad injury, played for the first time since the first round. He managed three points in eight minutes off the bench. Kevon Looney is shooting 73 percent from the floor in the postseason.

Durant's absence was felt on the defensive end as well against the Raptors. Siakam was going off for a postseason career-high 32 points. He was 14-of-17 shooting. He was hitting everything. Head Coach Nick Nurse said "I've never seen anything like that before. That's a pretty big stage for a guy to put that kind of performance on. That motor he's been given; he's using that to the best of his ability. He soaks up things. He takes it to the court. He works, works, works. He takes care of himself. He's really got a burning desire to be a very, very good player in this league. I give him all the credit for that for using those abilities to the best that he can." Kawhi Leonard had 23 points and Marc Gasol pitched in 20. That completed a dominant effort for the Toronto front-court. Kyle Lowry was held to seven points on 2-of-9 shooting in Game 1.

Golden State Warriors at Toronto Raptors for Game 1 of NBA Finals

The Finals 2019 Raptors vs Warriors

Warriors Looking to Cement a Dynasty in The Finals

It took four straight wins, but the Toronto Raptors were able to claw their way back from a 0-2 deficit against the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals. They’ve reached their first-ever NBA Finals after the heroic comeback against a team that had not lost four straight all season. Now they get to go up against one of the best squads of all time in the legendary Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are seeking their third consecutive NBA championship. Golden State opened as 1.5-point favorites, but their has been heavy betting action on Canada’s team. The line has now reversed.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, ABC, Sportsnet One (Toronto) LINE: Raptors -1.5; O/U: 213.

Warriors’ small forward Kevin Durant will not return to the hardwood for Game 1 of the Finals due to a calf injury. That hasn’t been a hindrance to this ultra-talented group so far. It has just allowed Steph Curry to take back leadership of the team, as should be. The Warriors have won five straight games without Durant and six straight overall. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have stepped up when it matters. The Raptors are hoping Kawhi Leonard continues his playoff dominance into the NBA Finals. Leonard is averaging over 30 points per game in the postseason. He has been outstanding by 50.7% shooting from the floor. Toronto will also the rest of the cast of Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry and Marc Gasol to step up for them to have success.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

With Durant having been ruled out of Game 1 with a calf injury the Warriors are ready for action in the of the best-of-seven series. Especially with center DeMarcus Cousins declared ready for action. Toronto has home-court advantage for the Finals due to a better regular-season record than Golden State. Winning the opening two games would greatly improve the club's chances of winning the series.

The Warriors' Cousins suffered his quadriceps injury on April 15 in Game 2 of the first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers. He has decalred himself and said Wednesday, "I feel good," Cousins said. "My quad is coming along. It's healed for the most part. Still whipping things into the shape, building the muscle endurance needed to play at a high level. Everything is coming along well." Point guard Stephen Curry is picking up the scoring slack with Durant sidelined. He has scored 30 or more points in five straight playoff games and six of the past seven. Klay Thompson has just one 30-point outing in 16 playoff contests this postseason. Draymond Green had back-to-back triple-doubles to wrap up the Western Conference finals against the Portland Trail Blazers. He has four, and counting, during the playoffs.

The Raptors' Leonard is averaging 31.2 points and 8.8 rebounds in the postseason. He is again back in the discussion as perhaps the best player in the NBA. Especially after carrying Toronto to the Finals on his back. Leonard is slated to become a free agent in July so this could be the Raptors' one-and-only Finals opportunity with him on the roster. He has mentioned he is open to staying with the Raptors. The Raptors won both regular-season meetings. They won 131-128 in overtime at Toronto on Nov. 29th and 113-93 on Dec. 12th at Oakland, Calif.

The Dart Throw: Warriors 110, Raptors 106

Stanley Cup Finals Game 2: Blues vs Bruins

Stanley Cup Finals of 2019

Bruins Slashed Way to 1-0 Lead in NHL Finals

The St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins will meet in Game 2 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night at TD Garden. The Bruins made a loud statement in Game 1. They made it psychologically and physically. They showed that the road to the Stanley Cup must go through them and that standing in their path carries a risk of slammed. A stirring comeback and a thunderous hit that looked like it was straight out of "Slap Shot" enabled the Bruins to take a 1-0 series. Boston has won all nine playoff matchups against St. Louis. The Blues are 0-13 all-time in Stanley Cup play.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network, CBC, SN, TVAS LINE: Bruins -1.5 +170, Bruins -170; O/U: 5.5 Under -145.

It may not rival the iconic image of Bobby Orr flying through the air after scoring the Cup-clinching goal versus St. Louis in 1970, but Bruins defenseman Torey Krug left an unforgettable mark on Game 1. He went airborne after his helmet-less, open-ice thunderous check on Robert Thomas in the third period. The Blues prefer to look ahead rather than dwell on the series opener. They were manhandled in more ways than Krug's hit. They squandered an early two-goal lead and got out-shot 30-12 over the final two periods. That CANNOT happen again if they want to make a series of this.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

The Blues defenseman Vince Dunn has been sidelined since Game 3 of the Western Conference finals after getting hit in the mouth by a shot. He practiced for a third straight day Tuesday and could be back in the lineup for Game 2. Dunn has seven points in the postseason and scored in two of his previous three games before he was injured. Jordan Binnington posted a 24-5-1 mark since he was called up from the minors in early December. He is 5-2 in the playoffs following a loss. F Brayden Schenn has scored in back-to-back contests following a 13-game goal drought.

The Bruins Fourth-line center, Sean Kuraly, added to his clutch performer reputation. He set up Boston's first goal before scoring his third-game winner of the playoffs. Kuraly and line-mates Noel Acciari and Joakim Nordstrom had to do some heavy lifting defensively also. Coach Bruce Cassidy matched them up against St. Louis' No. 1 unit after the Blues struck for two goals early. They didn't disappoint. Captain Zdeno Chara said he was fine after receiving stitches to close a cut sustained in the third period.

The Dart Throw: Bruins 4. Blues 1

MLB Tuesday: Twins Host the Brewers

Twins Major League Baseball

Brewers Look for Sweep Over the Twins

The Minnesota Twins so far have been the dominating team in MLB. They host the struggling Milwaukee Brewers in the second game of this highly anticipated inter-league series on Tuesday. They lost game one of the series and look to keep from getting swept this evening. Orlando Arcia belted a two-run homer in the eighth inning on Monday to provide the Brewers with a 5-4 win while handing Minnesota just its second loss in 13 games.

The Twins hold the best record in all of baseball at 36-17 (one game ahead of the Yankees and Astros) and are ten games ahead of the second place Indians in the AL Central. The Brewers are 31-24 and looking to stay within striking distance of the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are only 0.5 games ahead of Milwaukee in the NL Central.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), FS North (Minnesota); LINE: Twins -111; O/U: Over 10 -115.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Zach Davies (5-0, 2.43 ERA) vs. Twins LH Martin Perez (7-1, 2.95)

Arcia recorded three RBI's while Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich drove in runs with sacrifice flies to give Milwaukee its second straight win following a stretch during which it lost five of seven games. Yelich leads the majors with 21 Creatures, but has only 10 RBI's this month. That is despite hitting seven creatures. That happens when six are of the solo variety. Minnesota had its six-game winning streak snapped on Monday. They had outscored opponents 53-16 during their string of victories. Byron Buxton hit a three-run blast in the series opener. Twins' batters struck out 13 times in this game. Jonathan Schoop, C.J. Cron and Miguel Sano all pulling the Hat Trick.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

The Twins will give the nod to veteran Martin Perez. He hasn’t been too shabby himself with a 7-1 record and a 2.95 ERA. The Twins have produced the highest scoring offense in all of baseball. They leading the league in runs scored at 308 thanks to the likes of shortstop Jorge Polanco, who has a .340 AVG (leads the AL), and left fielder Eddie Rosario has 15 HR (tied for second in AL). Perez defeated the Los Angeles Angels in his last turn. He gave up two runs and six hits over five innings. He has issued four walks in each of his last two outings, but has at least seven strikeouts in four of his last five starts Perez lost his lone career start against the Brewers on Sept. 26, 2016. He was gas-lighted for eight runs and nine hits in 6 2/3 innings while with Texas.

The Brewers will be going with Zach Davies on the mound. Davies is undefeated going into this matchup after 10 starts. He is holding a 5-0 record with an impressive 2.43 ERA. Davies is coming off his worst outing of the season as he allowed six runs and six hits in three innings of a no-decision against Cincinnati. The young hurler gave up just nine earned runs in his first nine starts. He served up two homers iagainst the Reds on Wednesday. Davies has lost his lone career start against the Twins on Aug. 10, 2017. He surrendered seven runs - six earned - and 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
