NL Central-Leading Milwaukee Brewers take on Houston Astros

Last weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers played host to the Houston Astros and unceremoniously swept them out of town. The rematch begins Friday when the Brew Crew travel to Texas for a three-game series starting Friday night.

Last Saturday, Yovani Gallardo won his 12th game of the season when his Brewers defeated J.A. Happ 6-2. Those two take the hill again on Friday. Other pitching matchups include Chris Narveson against Brett Myers on Saturday and Zack Greinke against Bud Norris on Sunday.

The Brewers are currently first in a tight NL Central race with a 62-50 record and have 14/1 odds of winning the World Series. The Astros are about as out of it as they can be, 24.5 games behind, the greatest gap in the majors.

Milwaukee is trying to make this the year they get that first World Series win. Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun have gone wild, combining for 52 home runs and 152 RBIs at this point. Staying that hot will be key as they try to get to the postseason for just the second time since 2008.

Odds Point to Brewers, But Hard-Fought NL Central On the Line

The National League Central is shaping up to be one of the hardest fought divisions in all of baseball down the stretch and this week is a perfect example. Think you know baseball? Prove it.

Starting Monday the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers will host the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-game set at Miller Park, individual game MLB odds are available in Bodog?s online sportsbook, but so are pennant and World Series futures for those thinking down the road.

It?s never too early to start talking playoff pictures, and with the wild card spot in the NL currently held comfortably by the Atlanta Braves, the race for the NL Central is only more important.

Though they?ll have the advantage of being the home team in the series, the Brewers will need to be at the top of their games if they hope to put a dent in St. Louis? record. With the Pittsburgh Pirates nipping at their heels in the division, every win is of utmost importance.

According to Bodog, the Brewers have the advantage in the big picture. With 14/1 odds of winning the World Series they top all of their NL Central counterparts in terms of MLB futures. The Cardinals, sit close behind at 22/1.

So far this season the Brewers have seen brilliant seasons from Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks, but none of that will matter if they can?t continue their torrid pace in the final few months.

Calgary Stampeders Struggle to Live Up to Odds in 2011

Lost in the early success of the Edmonton Eskimos is the fact that the top two teams in the West Division last year have struggled early in 2011. This week one of them will have a chance to salvage some momentum.

In a rematch of the 2010 West Division Finals, the Saskatchewan Roughriders will host the Calgary Stampeders Saturday at 9 PM EST.

Bet on the CFL with Bodog.

With a 1-3 mark through Week 4, the Roughriders are far from where they anticipated they would be to start the year after making it as far as they championship game last fall. They?ve struggle mightily on both sides of the ball, allowing a league-high 138 points against and scoring for themselves just 83.

All things considered, despite their success in 2010, the Roughriders have the second worst outlook on the CFL futures board with just 10/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup in the eight-team league.

The Stampeders are a bit of a different story. Though they finished last season with the CFL?s best record, their early exit at the hands of Saskatchewan spoiled the campaign. This time out expectations are high, despite their mixed success in the first month of the season.

Though Calgary has been towards the top of the CFL futures board all season (now with 4/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup), they sit at just .500 with a game log that includes losses to both the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Will this be the week the Roughriders show a glimpse of the team that rallied to the Grey Cup last week? Or will the Stampeders crawl back above .500 in their pursuit of a West Division first-round playoff bye.

Bet CFL Action with Bodog.

Bettor Support vs. Experience on Display as Tigers Host Angels

The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels are in similar positions at this point in the season, which makes their upcoming four-game set particularly significant when it comes to MLB betting.

Both franchises had lofty but reasonable expectations heading into the campaign and currently sit at or near the top of their respective divisions within striking distance of a spot in the postseason this fall.

The differences between the two stem from how much confidence oddsmakers seem to have in their ability to contend for the World Series.

According to Bodog?s online sportsbook, the Detroit Tigers have 20/1 odds of winning the World Series. The Angels sit behind at 35/1 odds on the MLB futures board, despite the fact that it has been they, and not the Tigers, who have made the postseason in six of the past nine seasons.

With division races still very much up for grabs in both the AL Central and AL West, the head-to-head match ups between the two clubs will go a long in helping the victors in their individual battles with the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers.

Considering that the AL East seems a lock to claim the wildcard berth in the American League, the hunt for the Central and West for divisions will only heat up.

Ti-Cats and Lions Each Look to Turn Things Around in Friday Night Game

Ti-Cats and Lions Each Look to Turn Things Around in Friday Night Game

Kevin Glenn was excellent while the defensive line was even better as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats won their first game of the season last week against Saskatchewan. Now they hope to carry that momentum into BC. Hamilton has 10/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup this season.

Linebacker Jamall Johnson has been excellent for Hamilton this season as he leads the league in tackles with 22, including two sacks. Opponents have also had trouble stopping running back Avon Cobourne, who has 164 rushing yards so far.

BC?s Travis Lulay has 958 passing yards this season which places him third in the CFL. Simon Geroy?s 272 receiving yards also has him third in that category. Bet on CFL player props with Bodog.

The Lions are 0-3 so far this season, but it?s still early and their CFL futures give them 9/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup.

Last season the two teams split a pair of games, with Hamilton taking the first game 35-31 while BC got the second win in an even closer game with a 23-21 score.

Alouettes Host Roughriders in Rematch of Grey Cup

After facing each other in both of the last two Grey Cups, the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders renew rivalries Sunday at the Percival Molson Memorial Stadium.

This game sets up to be a bit different from the previous championship games as the Roughriders have fallen to 0-3 to start the CFL season while the Als are a perfect 3-0. The two played in Week 2 with Montreal taking the victory.

Saskatchewan has hardly made it difficult for their opponents, not coming closer than 14 points in any of their losses. The Roughriders have 15/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup.

Montreal, on the other hand, has gotten better each game. Last Friday Anthony Calvillo became the CFL?s all-time touchdown pass leader, connecting with Eric Deslauriers in the end zone for his 395th career touchdown pass, toppling Damon Allen?s record. Calvillo added another one before the night was done. The Alouettes CFL futures give them 3/2 odds of winning the Grey Cup.

It won?t be that easy for Montreal though. Roughrider linebacker Sean Lucas is second in the league in tackles going into Week 4 while on the offensive side, Wes Cates is fifth in the league with 148 rushing yards, and against Hamilton last weekend, wide receiver Efrem Hill and slot-back Chris Getzlaf combined for 137 yards on seven receptions.

Giants and Brewers Start Three-Game Series on Friday

Friday night marks the first of three games between the Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park in a series that looks to be all about pitching. Bet on MLB player props now.

The Giants will likely throw Barry Zito, Matt Cain and Ryan Vogelsong to the hill. The most surprising of the three this season has to be Vogelsong, who, after starting his career with the Giants and Pirates and pitching to a 10-22 record from 2000-06, spent three seasons in Japan before coming back to the Giants and going 7-1 so far this year.

The Brewers will counter with Shaun Marcum, Randy Wolf and Yovani Gallardo, all of whom are performing admirably for Milwaukee this season. The Brewers have 15/1 odds of winning the World Series.

Milwaukee is in a three-way battle with Pittsburgh and St. Louis for top spot in the NL Central. Thanks to a hot streak by Atlanta, the wild card is slipping further and further away from them. Meanwhile, San Francisco is currently holding onto a slim lead in the NL West over Arizona. San Francisco futures have them at 14/1 odds of winning the World Series.
