6th Ranked Oklahoma State Hosts 16th Ranked TCU

Oklahoma State Knows This is Huge Big 12 Opener

The 16th ranked TCU Horned Frogs and the 6th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys open their 2017 Big 12 schedule on Saturday. They battle at Boone Pickens Stadium, and the game is televised nationally on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm EST.

Oklahoma State has breezed through to its' 3-0 ranking with little resistance. They have outscored their opponents 162-52. The same can't be said for the 3-0 Horned Frogs. They have had to battle a tough Arkansas team and rally past SMU last week. We will find out today if Oklahoma State can handle a tough situation.

Oddsmakers opened Oklahoma State as 12.5-point favorites. The line has fallen to the Cowboys being favored by 10.5 at the moment. The total is now 70 after opening up at 68.5.

Will Oklahoma State Offense Get a Test Today

Wide receiver KaVontae Turpin, who was hampered by injuries a year ago, is looking more like the explosive player he was in 2015. The Frogs' other receivers are producing as well also. Steady running back Kyle Hicks continues to eat up yards and score touchdowns behind an improved offensive line.

TCU has never won a Big 12 game in the state of Oklahoma.

Boise State Takes on Virginia Friday Night

Boise State Looks to Get Offense on Track

The fans at Albertsons Stadium will see the Virginia Cavaliers and the Boise State Broncos when they take their seats on Friday. Boise State is playing an ACC team for the first time in the regular season on the "Smurf Turf".  The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and kickoff is slated for a few minutes after 8 pm EST.

Oddsmakers have the Broncos as 13-point favorites and the total is sitting at 50.

Boise State won its last outing 28-14 against New Mexico Lobos on September 14. Boise State failed to cover in that game as a -16.5-point favorite, while the 42 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

That high-powered, shock and awe offense football fans are used to has been missing so far as Boise State. They have mostly slogged through the first three weeks. The Broncos scored 24 points in wins over Troy and New Mexico. Then the team let a 31-10 lead slip away in the fourth quarter against Washington State.  The Broncos ended up losing in triple-overtime.

Two quarterbacks will most likely play against Virginia. Brett Rypien is expected to return after missing last week's game with an injury. He might not even be the starter. Boise State started Montell Cozart last week. He saw extensive time the week before against Washington State as well.

Cavs on the Road for First Time in 2017

Virginia was a 38-18 winner in their most recent outing at home against UCONN Huskies. They covered the -10.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score (56) made winners of OVER bettors.

Virginia will be on the road for the first time after opening the season with wins over William & Mary and UConn. Those W's were sandwiched around a loss to Indiana. Cavs coach Bronco Mendenhall is very familiar playing at Boise from his days as the Head Coach at BYU. So he knows what to expect.

Virginia has a 4-1 advantage in takeaways through three games. The number is somewhat misleading though. The Cavaliers have fumbled seven times, and recovered all seven.

Tit for Tat

Boise State may be without standout defensive tackle David Moa against the Cavaliers. Moa was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace last Saturday. Authorities say Moa was involved in a disturbance outside a night club.

Boise State have not been successful so far in replacing running back Jeremy McNichols. The Broncos are averaging only 146 yards rushing and 3.7 yards per carry so far this season. It doesn't help that QB Montell Cozart is the Broncos' leading rusher with 179 yards. Alexander Mattison is the top running back. He has 155 yards in three games but he had just 10 yards on six carries against New Mexico.

Olamide Zaccheaus carryied the ball just three times last season and not at all in the first two games. The Cavaliers gave him four carries last week and he gained 47 yards, including a 27-yard run.

23rd Ranked Utah Utes Travel to Battle Arizona Wildcats

Utah and Zona' Will face Off Strength Against Strength

The 23rd ranked Utah Utes and the Arizona Wildcats will open their PAC-12 schedules on Friday when they meet at Arizona Stadium. The game is set for kickoff at 10:30 pm EST and will be broadcast by Fox Sports 1.

The Utes snapped a four-game losing streak to the Wildcats last season. They handled the Cats' with a 36-23 victory in Salt Lake City. They have to stop the high-powered Arizona running game to build a winning streak of their own.

Utah Utes Face Zona's High Powered Running Game

49ers Host Rams in Terrible NFL Matchup in Primetime

49ers and Rams Look at Rebuilding Progress

The Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers will meet at Levi's Stadium on Thursday Night on NFL Network. The two longtime division rivals are both in a rebuilding process. The fact that the NFL puts this matchup on in Prime Time on its brand station shows the state of the NFL. The mediocrity on display across the league is apparent and the football is unwatchable at time. Below is a previews of this lousy game if you care.

Oddsmakers opened the Rams as -3-point favorites versus the 49ers, while the game's total opened at 42. The Rams are still favored by 3-points but the total has dropped to 40. There are a few scattered 39.5 lines out there.

Last time out for San Francisco, they were a 12-9 loser as they battled the Seattle Seahawks on the road. The 49ers covered in the matchup as a +13.5-point underdog, while 21 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

San Francisco safety Eric Reid injured his knee and won't play against the Rams. Linebacker Reuben Foster is not expected to play because of an ankle injury, either.

San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde has looked good in the team's first two games. He will be a focal point against the Rams. Hyde is fourth in the league in rushing with 169 yards. The fact he is averaging 7.0 yards a carry may be more impressive. The 49ers' ground game is the lacking in touchdowns by Hyde. He enters the Thursday night game with no rushing scores.

Rams Look to Improve Defensive Play

Last time out for Los Angeles, they were a 27-20 loser as they battled the Washington Redskins at home. The Rams failed to cover in the matchup as a -3-point favorite, while 47 combined points moved the game PUSH for totals bettors.

The Rams' defense was bad against the Redskins in Week 2. Defensively they  will need to shore up their tackling while matching up against an improving offensive line. San Francisco guard Laken Tomlinson started in Week 2 after spending the preseason with the Lions. He was acquired in a trade and made a big impact on the interior run game. This week he will be facing one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL.

That lineman is Aaron Donald. Donald did not play in Week 1 after a training camp holdout. He looked sluggish in Week 2 against the Redskins. He finished with just one tackle and an assist.

Running back Todd Gurley, who was the 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, is ranked eighth in the NFL with 128 yards. He is only averaging 3.7 yards a carry, but Gurley had two rushing scores this season. Gurley also has added value as a pass catcher. He has eight receptions for 104 yards and another score. The Rams will need Gurley to continue to be a dual-threat player against the 49ers defense.
