6th-Ranked TCU Travels to 5th-Ranked Oklahoma

Oklahoma's Mayfield is Front-runner for Heisman

The 6th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs and the 5th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners battle on Saturday when they meet at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Fox Sports has the coverage nationally and kick-off is set for 8 pm EST.

Baker Mayfield has turned from a Heisman Trophy contender into the clear-cut favorite. After his exhibition a week ago in a win over Oklahoma State. The top NFL prospect threw for 598 yards and five touchdowns.

Oddsmakers have Oklahoma as 6.5-point favorite and the total is sitting at 61.

TCU Hopes Solid Defense can Contain Oklahoma

The Horned Frogs are first nationally in rushing defense. They are allowing less than 70 yards per game. The Horned Frogs are allowing just 6.8 points and 188.0 yards over the last four games.

TCU ranks fifth in the nation in yards per play allowed.

After a rough 6-7 record last season, TCU is back as a factor both in the Big 12 and nationally.

As good as the Horned Frog secondary is it can be thrown on. The squad gave up 398 yards to Mason Rudolph and Oklahoma State. They got burned for 366 to Will Grier and West Virginia. They have given up over 200 yards or more in five of the last seven games.

Oklahoma Starting to Run the Ball Well

Oklahoma has run for 200 or more yards only three times this season. Two of those have come in the last three games. Rodney Anderson has rushed for 439 yards over the last three games.

The Sooners hold a 4-1 advantage since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12 in 2012. That is misleading as no game has been decided by more than a touchdown.

The Sooner defense allows 28.2 points per game and 5.9 yards per play. That has themranking 88th among the 130 FBS teams. Oklahoma gave up 52 points and 661 yards to Oklahoma State and won.

Top Ranked Georgia Travels to Auburn

Georgia is Favored in the 121st Edition of "The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry"

The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked #1 in the College Football Playoff rankings and they hit the road to battle the 10th-ranked Auburn Tigers. The bitter rivals will battle at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kick-off is set for 3:30 pm EST and will be televised nationally by CBS.

"The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry" will have its 121st edition on Saturday afternoon. The two have been playing since the late 1892, and Georgia leads the series 57-55-8.

This year, the stakes are pretty high. Georgia is the No. 1 team in the country with legitimate Playoff hopes, as they have clinched the SEC East. Auburn, even with losses to Clemson and LSU, still has a shot at making the top 4. But it is a long-shot. They would need to beat Georgia twice and Alabama once.

Oddsmakers have Georgia as 2.5-point favorites. The total is sitting at 49.

The Bulldogs beat Auburn last year in Athens 13-7. It was a slobber-knocker of a game in which Georgia's only touchdown came on a pick six by Maurice Smith.

Auburn is in Must Win Mode Against Georgia

In their last action, Auburn was a 42-27 winner on the road against the Texas A&M Aggies. They earned a push of the -15-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (69) was profitable news for OVER bettors.

The Tigers' offense has been clicking since losing to LSU 27-23 on Oct. 14 in Baton Rouge. Auburn has outscored Arkansas and Texas A&M by a combined 94-47 margin the last two weeks. The numbers are largely due to the play of quarterback Jarrett Stidham and running back Kerryon Johnson. Both of them account for 369.4 yards of offense per game.

The Tiger defense is one of the most sound in the country. They allow just 2.9 points per scoring opportunity (first downs inside your 40), lowest in the country.

Georgia Look to Keep Playing Solid Football on Both Sides of Ball

Last time out for Georgia, they were a 24-10 winner as they battled the South Carolina Gamecocks at home. Georgia failed to cover as a -23.5-point favorite, while 34 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart knows all too well what the environment is like at Auburn. He has experience as a former player at UGA and his years coaching at Alabama.

Even Notre Dame, which has rolled over the rest of its schedule with an average of 358.5 rushing yards per game. They only managed a paltry 55 against Georgia on just 1.5 yards per carry. There’s some minor concern over the secondary though. That is based mainly on the fact that it allowed a pair of long touchdown passes against Missouri on Oct. 14

Despite reduced workloads, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are both on pace to eclipse 1,000 yards in the regular season. The underclassman trio of D’Andre Swift, Elijah Holyfield and Brian Herrien chipping in an additional 88 yards per game between them.

Jacob Fromm leads the SEC in pass efficiency and ranks third nationally, which is not a fluke. There have been games where Fromm has looked like a seasoned veteran with a firm command of the playbook (Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina).

He also have games where he’s looked like an erratic freshman (Notre Dame, Tennessee). Then you throw in games where he was asked to do so little his presence seemed incidental (Vanderbilt, Florida).

Big Ten East in Play as Buckeyes Host Spartans

Big Ten Title Is a Crap-shoot in 2017

The 12th- ranked Michigan State Spartans and the 11th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will battle on Saturday at Ohio Stadium. Kick-off is set for 12 Noon EST. FOX Sports will have the telecast live.

The winner of the heated rivalry  will take sole possession of first place and have the inside track to the East title.

Oddsmakers have Ohio State as 17.5-point favorites. The total is at 54.5.

Buckeyes Look to Regroup after Shellacking at Iowa

Ohio State took a beating last week in a 55-24 loss at Iowa. The loss was shocking,  but  the way the Hawkeyes completely dominated the game is what was the kick in the kahoonas. The College Football Playoff appears to be out of the picture now.

Ohio State gave up the most points ever by a Meyer-coached. It was also the fifth most in the program's storied history. The offense and defense still rank among the Big Ten's best but have some issues.

Ohio State's pass defense was torched for five touchdowns by Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley.

Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke has played well in recent weeks. He passed for 400 yards against Penn State.

 

Spartans Glad to be in Big Ten Contention after Rare off Year in 2016

The Spartans only losses were to Notre Dame and at Northwestern in three overtimes. The team would like nothing better than to come away with another victory at the Horseshoe. They are a 17.5-point underdogs. That should give them plenty of motivation to be disrespected by the linesmakers.

Two years ago Michigan State stunned the unbeaten and second-ranked Buckeyes on a rainy day in Columbus. They would definitely like to ride the momentum to another victory today at the "Horseshoe".

If Michigan State can get past Ohio State they would be favored against Maryland and Rutgers in its last two regular-season games.

With 26 players and 10 starters on the Michigan State roster from Ohio the added motivation is always there. . Dantonio, who is a Ohio native and former Ohio State assistant coach under Jim Tressel, recruits the Buckeye State heavily.

9th-Ranked Washington Travels to Stanford

Stanford Looks to Knock-off The Huskies

The fans at Stanford Stadium will see the 9th-ranked Washington Huskies and the Stanford Cardinal when they take their seats on Friday. Kick-off is set for 10:30 pm EST. Fox Sports 1 will televise the game.

Oddsmakers have the Huskies as a 7-point favorite. The total is at 49.

Washington's defense is now statistically the best in the nation. Tonight will tell if it remains there. It probably depend on whether or not it can hem up Bryce Love.

The Stanford star has had at least one 50-yard run in each game he has played this year. He will be looking to continue that trend in Friday's pivotal Pac-12 game.

Stanford in Must Win Situation for Pac-12 North Title

In their last action, Stanford was a 24-21 loser on the road against the Washington State Cougars. They failed to cover the -1-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (45) was profitable news for UNDER bettors.

Washington holds a half-game lead over Washington State and Stanford in the Pac-12 North race.

Love has 11 runs of 50 or more yards this season. His 1,456 total rushing yards rank second nationally behind San Diego State's Rashaad Penny, who has 1,602. Love also has a superb 9.6 average per carry.

Stanford will be starting redshirt freshman quarterback K.J. Costello for the second straight week. Costello struggled in snowy conditions against Washington State. He was 9-of-20 passing for 105 yards and one interception.

The Stanford defense allows an average of 21.3 points per game. They have been touched up for 42 points in a loss to USC and 34 in a victory over UCLA.

Washington Will Depend on Defense against Stanford

Washington was a 38-3 winner in their most recent outing at home against the Oregon Ducks. They covered the -14-point spread as favorites, while the total score (41) made winners of UNDER bettors. Washington ranks second nationally in scoring defense at 11.1 ppg.  The unit has allowed 10 or fewer points on five occasions.

Love is coming off a season-low 69 yards against Washington State. He had a 52-yard touchdown run but was otherwise held to 17 yards on 15 attempts. Love has been bothered by a injured ankle. He missed the Oregon State game two weeks ago.

The Washington defense allowed a 100-yard rusher for the first time all season when Oregon's Royce Freeman rumbled for 122 yards.

Washington QB Jake Browning fared well against the Stanford defense last season by throwing three touchdown passes in a 44-6 rout of the Cardinal.

Browning doesn't have a 300-yard game this season. He has passed for 1,907 yards and 16 touchdowns. Browning only has five interceptions. He is currently tied for the school record of 75 career touchdown passes with Keith Price.
