NFC Wildcard Betting Preview & Pick- Atlanta at Los Angeles

The backend of this Saturday’s NFL Wildcard Round doubleheader should be a doozy.  The 10-6 Atlanta Falcons head to the West Coast to face the 11-5 Los Angeles Rams in an 8:15 p.m. start on NBC from Memorial Coliseum.

BetAnySports opened the Rams as 4.5-point favorites with the total set at 49 points. The line is now LA as a 6-point favorite and the total has dropped to 48.

Reigning NFC Champs had to Fight for NFC Wildcard Life

The Falcons needed that 10^th straight-up win of the year to secure the final playoff spot in the NFC. The fact that they are still the defending conference champion, they could be one of the more interesting betting teams in this year’s NFL playoffs.

Atlanta was not a solid betting option in the regular season. They went 7-9 against the spread. On the road is where it went awry as they were 2-6 ATS. They did cover in the only two games it closed as an underdog.

Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan did not turn in one of his best performances this season throwing the ball. It was still good enough for the Falcons to end the year ranked eighth in the league in average passing yards per game with 249.4.

Julio Jones caught 88 passes for 1,444 yards, but he was only on the receiving end of three throws for touchdowns.

Rams Take NFL's Top Offense Into NFC Wildcard Weekend

Los Angeles decided to go with Sean McVay as its new head coach following a four-win season in 2016. The move has paid immediate dividends. This year’s sudden turnaround to a SU 11-5 record while going 9-7 ATS is astounding.

The Rams won the NFC West Division title for the first time since 2003. They went 6-4 ATS as favorites this season. The total went OVER or ended as a PUSH in 11 of the 16 games overall.

The emergence of Jared Goff as a big-time NFL quarterback was huge. The revitalized effort of Todd Gurley, both running and catching the ball, helped push Los Angeles to first in the NFL in scoring this season. The Rams led with an average of 29.9 points per game.

While the Rams’ defense did have some issues occasionally with an average of 339.6 total yards allowed. The unit was ranked 12^th in the NFL when it came to points allowed with 20.6 ppg.

This should be a great matchup in a game that could easily go OVER BetAnySports’ total line. I am going with the Falcons’ plus the 6 points as my ‘best bet’ pick given their edge on a much bigger stage in the postseason.

AFC Wildcard Saturday: Chiefs Host Titans

Chiefs Look to Find Mojo Again in AFC Wildcard

The fans at Arrowhead Stadium will see the AFC Wildcard Saturday matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff is set for 4:35 pm EST and ESPN on ABC will have the telecast.

Oddsmakers opened the Chiefs as -7-point favorites versus the Titans, while the game's total opened at 46. The line is now KC as 8.5-point favorites and the total has dropped to 44.5.

The Chiefs clinched their second straight AFC West championship two weeks ago. The Titans had a hard fought battle that lasted to the final minute of the season. They broke a three-game skid to clinch their first playoff berth since 2008.

The Titans and Chiefs are somewhat familiar with each another. Tennessee visited Kansas City in Week 15 of the 2016 season. They overcame a 17-7 fourth-quarter deficit in rallying for a 19-17 win.

Chiefs Depend on Tough Defense and Run-Game

Kansas City won its last outing, a 27-24 result against the Broncos on December 31. The Chiefs covered in that game as a +3-point underdog, while the 51 combined points took the game OVER the total.

Kansas City's defense thrives on turnovers. Those TO's have proven highly predictive of the team's success. The defense forced 24 turnovers during the team's 10 wins. In their six loses that same D only forced two turnovers.

The Chiefs enter the game with a series of injuries on their special teams. They lost kick returners Akeem Hunt and De'Anthony Thomas to injuries in the season finale. They are out for the remainder of the season.

That leaves them with only wide receiver Tyreek Hill with much experience returning kickoffs.

The team is also battling injuries on the defensive line. Rakeem Nunez-Roches and Jarvis Jenkins missed practice time this week. That could prove vital in a game the Chiefs want to slow down the Titans' rushing attack and contain Mariota in the pocket.

Running back DeMarco Murray has been ruled out with an MCL tear. Derrick Henry is the team's lead back against the Chiefs. Starting cornerback Logan Ryan and Da'Norris Searcy both missed practice Wednesday with an illness.

Titans are Wary of Titans in AFC Wildcard

Last time out for Tennessee, they were a 15-10 winner as they battled the Jaguars at home. The Titans covered in the match as a -2.5-point favorite, while 25 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

The Chiefs remain wary of the ability of Marcus Mariota and his ability to make plays outside the pocket. Mariota struggled in the regular season with just 13 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions. His running ability is vital.

This is the Titans 1st playoff berth under Mike Mularkey

Christmas Day NBA: Wizards and Celtics First Meeting of Season

Celtics Face Wizards Since NBA Playoffs

The fans at TD Garden will see the Washington Wizards and the Boston Celtics meet on Christmas Day.  Tip-off is at 5:30 pm EST and ABC will televise this game.

Oddsmakers opened the Celtics as -4.5-point favorites versus the Wizards, while the game's total opened at 204.5. The line has held steady and the total has went up to 206 with some scattered 206.5's.

The last time the these two squads played was Game 7 of last year's hotly contested Eastern Conference semifinals. Just like the regular season meetings between the teams, the whole series was a war from the start. Don't expect anything less today.

These two teams hate each other. After one regular season game police were in the hallway outside the locker room. An incident that saw Jae Crowder  trying to get to the Wizards' locker room. He was fined $25,000 and John Wall $15,000.

Washington's John Wall got ejected from a game for hitting Marcus Smart. Smart and Bradley Beal  were yelling at each other the next time they met. Beal got a well earned technical foul.

The Celtics won all six games, counting playoffs, at home, and lost all five in Washington. The Wizards have lost nine straight at TD Garden.
