NBA Finals Game 5: Can Warriors Put Away Cavs?

2017 NBA Finals

Can Cavs Repeat History in NBA Finals?

The Cavs will be riding the momentum of a hot-shooting in a 137-116 triumph in Game 4 of the NBA Finals in Cleveland on Friday. Tonight they attempt to complete another Finals comeback. This one from a 3-0 series hole. Golden State still holds a 3-1 series edge. Game 5 starts tonight around 9 pm EST on ABC.

The Cavaliers rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the best-of-seven series in 2016. They stunned the defending champs in 2016 using a 112-97 win in Game 5 in Oakland as a springboard.

In game 4 of the 2017 finals Cleveland burned the Warriors on 24-of-45 shooting from 3-point range on Friday. The Cavaliers outscored Golden State 72-33 from beyond the 3-point line. Oddsmakers opened up the Warriors as 9-point favorites in Game 5. The total was set at 230.5. After almost three days of wagering, gamblers have bet the line to 8.5 and the total is at 231.

Can Warriors Continue Home Dominance?

The Warriors dominated their two previous home games in the series. They did so by winning 113-91 and 132-113. It was the first time in NBA Finals history that one team opened with consecutive wins by 19 or more points.

Warriors fans are hoping to share in the fun this time around. No San Francisco Bay Area professional team has won a championship at home since the Oakland Athletics captured the 1974 World Series. The Warriors captured the 2015 title in Cleveland with a 105-97 victory in Game 6. They lost Game 7 last year at home to the Cavs 93-89.

NBA Finals Free Pick- Golden State at Cleveland Game 3

2017 NBA Finals

Warriors Undefeated in Playoffs going into NBA Finals Game 3

The Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers resume play in this season’s NBA Finals on Wednesday night. The game, at Quicken Loans Arena, is Game 3 of this best-of-seven showdown. BetAnySports has opened the Warriors as three-point road favorites for the 9 p.m. (ET) start on ABC and the betting line for the total has been set at 225.5 points. The line is now Golden State -3.5 and the total is sitting at 227.

Golden State has jumped out to the early 2-0 series lead with a pair of victories at home. The Victories were both straight-up and against the spread. After hammering Cleveland 113-91 in the series opener as 7.5-point favorites, the Warriors rolled to a 132-113 win on Sunday night as nine-point favorites on BetAnySports’ closing line. The total went OVER 221.5 points in that game and it has now gone OVER in six of their last seven postseason games.

Both Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry played a major role in Golden State’s perfect 12-0 SU run through the first three rounds of the playoffs while going 8-4 ATS. Durant has been the team’s leading scorer against Cleveland with 71 combined points and Curry posted a triple-double (32 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists) in Sunday night’s win. The Warriors led the NBA in scoring during the regular season with 115.9 points per game and they have elevated that average to 118.9 points through 14 postseason contests.

Can Cavs Turn it Around in Game 3 of NBA Finals?

Cleveland is going to have to make the most of its home court to climb back into this series. It went 5-1 SU in six previous playoff games at home this year, but that record falls to 2-4 ATS. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in five of those six outings. The Cavaliers have failed to cover ATS in four of their last five games overall to fall to 7-6-2 ATS in 15 playoff games.

LeBron James has led the way for Cleveland so far with 28 points and 15 rebounds in Game 1 followed by 29 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists in Sunday night’s loss. The Cavaliers were able to connect on 50.3 percent of their shots from the field through the first three rounds of this year’s playoffs, but they shot just 34.9 percent in Game 1 and 45 percent in Game 2 against Golden State. In Sunday’s loss, they went an ineffective 8-for-29 from three-point range.

Cleveland could turn things around on Wednesday night at home if everything goes its way, but given just how good the Warriors have looked in their past six games, I am not about to start betting against them now.

The Finals: Cavaliers-Warriors Series Shifts to Cleveland

NBA The Finals

Cavs Have Work Cut Out in The Finals

The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t been able to hang with the Golden State Warriors in Games 1 and 2 of The Finals. However, that was the case in last year’s NBA Finals too before they came back and won it.

Oddsmakers opened the line with Golden State as a 2.5-point favorite. Oddsmakers have the line now with Golden State as a -3.5-point favorite.  and The total has moved from 225.5 to 227.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a 50% bonus.

The Cavaliers have been run off the court in Games 1 and 2. They have been outplayed by losing both by 22 and 19 points. LeBron James has played about as well as they could have asked. The "King" put up 29 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds in Game 2. The Warriors have been in complete control in the fourth quarters of each game.

Golden State is averaging an incredible 122.5 points per game in the NBA Finals. Kevin Durant has been incredible, averaging 35.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Paired with Steph Curry, who’s averaging 30.0 points per game in the Finals, it’s hard to see how the Cavaliers can win this series unless one of these two cools off.

Golden State has won all 14 of their playoffs games so far. They’ll somehow have to lose four of the next six games if they’re to fall in the NBA Finals.

Nationals Scherzer Slight Fave over Dodgers McCarthy in LA

Nationals Max Scherzer

Scherzer Headlines What Should be Top Pitching Duel

The Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers will meet at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night. The pitching matchup tonight should be a classic one as two of the games best take the hill for their teams. Tonights matchup and Wednesdays matchups should be a precursor to some postseason baseball.

In the series finale on Wednesday theNationals send right-hander Stephen Strasburg to the mound. He is 7-1 with a  2.91 ERA. He will face the Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, whi is 7-2 with a 2.28 ERA.

The Nationals will give the ball to starter Max Scherzer in this one. Right hander Scherzer is 6-3 this season with a 2.56 ERA. In his last two starts Scherzer has been dominant. Sherzer has compiled a 2-0 record with a 1.02 ERA. He struck out 24 and walked two in 17 2/3 innings. Sherzer pitched a complete game in his last outing. He fanned 11 with no walks and limited the Giants to a run on five hits in a 3-1 win on Wednesday at San Francisco.

Starting this game for the Dodgers will be Brandon McCarthy. The right hander has a 3.37 ERA to go along with a 5-2 record this season. McCarthy allowed two runs on seven hits in four innings in his last start. It was in a 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in his last start on Thursday. He struck out six and walked one before being lifted due to a finger blister after throwing 85 pitches. McCarthy made it through a bullpen session without incident Sunday and declared himself fit for his Tuesday start.

McCarthy has been particularly effective at home, where he is 3-0 with a 2.89 ERA in five starts while limiting opponents to a .212 batting average.

Oddsmakers have Had Fun This series

Oddsmakers opened the Nationals as -120-moneyline favorites versus the Dodgers, while the game's total opened at 7.5. The line now has Scherzer as a -124=moneyline favorite. The total is now at 7.5 Under -125.

In their last action, Washington was a 4-2 winner on the road against the Dodgers. Bettors on Washington at 134 on the moneyline collected their winnings from that game, while the total score (6) sent UNDER bettors home happy as well. Gio Gonzalez , who is 5-1, delivered another quality performance against the Dodgers in a 4-2 victory. Gonzalez is 4-1 with a 1.89 ERA in six career starts against the Dodgers.

Guentzel Leads the Way to 2-0 Series Lead for Penguins

2017 NHL Penguins

Penguins Lucky to be up 2-0

After escaping with a win despite being outplayed by the Nashville Predators in Game 1, the Pittsburgh Penguins knew they had to be better in Game 2. The Pens used a dominating third period to defeat the Predators 4-1 and take a 2-0 series lead. Pittsburgh can thank their rookie playoff standout Jake Guentzel (12 goals, 7 assists) for the series lead, as he scored the game-winning goal in both Games 1 and 2. With 19 points so far this postseason, Guentzel is now the highest scoring American-born rookie in NHL playoff history. Now holding all of the momentum, the Penguins head to Nashville for Game 3.

Bet on hockey at Bodog and get a free 100% bonus.

Despite carrying the play for nearly all of Game 1, the Predators are leaving Pittsburgh with nothing to show for their efforts. The biggest shock so far in the Finals has been the play of their starting goaltender, Pekka Rinne. Through two games against Pittsburgh, Rinne has allowed eight goals on 36 shots for a shocking 0.738 save percentage. If Nashville has any hope of climbing back into the series, they’ll need their goalie to be much better going forward. Game 3 is this Saturday at 8 PM ET on NBCSN.

Champions League Final a Toss-Up: Real Madrid Faces Juventus

Champions Legue Final

UEFA Champions League Final Kicks Saturday

The two best soccer clubs in the world will meet this Saturday at 2:45 PM ET on FOX. The 2017 UEFA Champions League Final will be live from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The defending champions from Real Madrid will face Juventus in a rematch of the 1998 final; Real are slim favorites in this matchup, priced at +150 on the moneyline with Juventus at +175 and the draw in regulation very much in play at +205.

Bet on soccer at Bovada and get a free 50% bonus.

Real Madrid are on top of the soccer world after taking down the Champions League in 2014 and 2016, and they come into Saturday’s final as La Liga champions, led by the incomparable four-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristian Ronaldo. Juventus, featuring Gianluigi Buffon in goal, finished first in Serie A for the sixth straight year. They’ve allowed just one goal in their last seven matches combined.

Scoring could be even more difficult for Real Madrid if reports on Gareth Bale’s health are accurate. Bale suffered a right ankle tendon injury in November and had to leave last month’s Clasico against Barcelona after tweaking his calf. The Welsh national is still expected to play in front of what should be a pro-Real crowd in Cardiff.

NBA Finals Free Pick- Cleveland at Golden State Game 1

The NBA Finals

Oddsmakers Like Warriors in NBA Finals

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors are set to meet in the NBA Finals for the third-straight season. This year’s best-of-seven showdown tips things off with Game 1 tonight at Oracle Arena in a 9 p.m. (ET) start on ABC. BetAnySports has opened the Warriors as seven-point favorites and the betting line for the total has been set at 224.5.

The only blemish on Cleveland’s record in its run to a third-straight Eastern Conference title was a loss to Boston in Game 3 of the conference finals. The Cavaliers went 12-1 straight-up through the first three rounds of the playoffs. They have a 7-4-2 record against the spread. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ closing line in nine of the 13 games. They were a perfect 7-0 SU on the road while going 5-0-2 ATS.

The trio of LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love deserve most of the credit for Cleveland’s postseason success so far. James has led the way with 32.5 points per game. He averaged 26.4 points in the regular season. Irving is scoring 24.5 PPG. Love is adding 17.2 points and 10.4 rebounds to the winning cause. The Cavaliers are averaging 116.8 PPG in the playoffs and shooting 50.7 percent from the field.

Cavs Look to Stop GSW Playoff Winning Streak in NBA Finals

Golden State will bring a perfect 12-0 SU record into this series after sweeping Portland, Utah and San Antonio in its first three rounds of the playoffs. The Warriors went 8-4 ATS during this extended winning streak and the total went OVER in nine of the 12 games. They were just 2-4 ATS in six playoff games at home after closing as double-digit favorite with BetAnySports in all six games.

Stephen Curry has been Golden State’s leading scorer in the playoffs with an average of 28.6 PPG, but Kevin Durant was a close second with 25.2 points while shooting a blistering 55.6 percent from the field. Klay Thompson (14.4 points) and Draymond Green (13.9 points) have also played key roles in this run as a part of a team scoring average of 118.3 PPG. The Warriors connected on 50.2 percent of their shots in those three series’ sweeps.

This should be another great series between the NBA’s top two powers. However, I am leaning towards Golden State minus the seven points with BetAnySports to take the early edge with the Game 1 win both SU and ATS.

NBA Finals: Warriors Big Favorites to Beat Cleveland

The NBA Finals

NBA Finals Trilogy Should be a Classic

This is the moment the Golden State Warriors have been waiting for. After blowing that 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in last year’s NBA Finals, the Warriors are back, and they’re better than ever; Golden State has opened as a 7-point home favorite for Thursday’s opener (9 PM ET, ABC), and the Dubs are –240 on the NBA championship futures market.

Last year’s Warriors may have won 73 games, but they didn’t win the only game that counts: the last one. So they added Kevin Durant in free agency, giving them yet another league MVP to join Stephen Curry in the starting lineup. Durant is +220 and Curry is +230 to be named Finals MVP at the end of this series.

LeBron James is also +220 to win MVP, which would be his fourth award. Even though the Cavs are +200 underdogs to defend their title, James is easily the best player on his team – Kyrie Irving is his closest MVP competition at +1000. James has played at an exceptionally high level in these playoffs, too, putting up 32-8-7 per game while hitting 42.1% of his 3-pointers.

The Cavaliers are 12-1 in the postseason, with their sole loss coming from the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. LeBron James has averaged 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists, while Kyrie Irving has chipped in with 24.5 points and 5.6 assists. The Cavaliers have averaged an incredible 116.8 points per game while shooting 43.5% from the three-point line and 50.7% from the field.

While those numbers are hard to top, the Warriors have been even better. They’re a perfect 12-0 thus far in the playoffs. Steph Curry is averaging 28.6 points, 5.6 assists and 5.5 boards, while Kevin Durant is putting up 25.2 points and 7.8 rebounds for the Warriors. They’re scoring 118.3 points per game and shooting 38.9% from three-point land, and 50.2% from the field.

The two have split their pair of regular season meetings, with the Cavaliers winning 109-108 on Christmas Day, and the Warriors winning 126-91 on January 16. The Warriors come into this series as the –240 favorites.
