Lynx Host Winless Stars in WNBA Action

Lynx WNBA Basketball

Lynx Look for Consistency on Defense

The fans at Target Center will witness the San Antonio Stars and the Minnesota Lynx when they take their seats on Sunday. The Lynx bounced back from their only loss of the season last time out. They can't afford to have a letdown against the 0-13 Stars. The game will be televised by NBATV at 7:30 EST.

Oddsmakers opened the Lynx as -16-point favorites versus the Stars. The game's total opened at 159. The line now shows the Lynx as 17.5-point favorites and the total is down to 157.

Minnesota was a 93-76 winner as they battled the Washington Mystics at home in their last game. The Lynx covered in the matchup as a -9.5-point favorite. The 169 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors. Maya Moore scored 22 points for the Lynx. WNBA MVP candidate Sylvia Fowles added 21 points in the route.

San Antonio was a 81-69 loser in its last match at home against the Dallas Wings. They failed to cover the +3-point spread as underdogs, while the total score of 150 sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.

Argos Host Tiger-Cats in their 2017 CFL Season Opener

Argos CFL Football

Argos and Cats Look for Better 2017 Seasons

The fans at BMO Field will see the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts when they take their seats on Sunday. The QEW rivals look to atone for disappointing 2016 CFL seasons.

The Tiger-Cats fell in the Eastern Semi-Finals, while the Argos failed to secure a playoff spot following a disappointing last-place finish.

Oddsmakers opened the Tiger-Cats as 3.5-point favorites and the total at 53. The line has held at 3.5, but the total has been bet up to 55.

A healthy Zach Collaros will be a huge part of a successful Tiger-Cats season. The Cincinnati Bearcat product spent half of last year on the sidelines with a torn ACL he suffered during the 2015 season. He is completely healed. Callaros has a full training camp under his belt and the five-year pro will be expected to be the leader in Hamilton.

No team in the CFL has gone through more off-season changes than the Toronto Argonauts. Jim Popp took over as the general manager after two decades in Montreal. And Popp brought a friend in former Alouettes Grey Cup-winning coach Marc Trestman. Trestman will lead the charge on the sidelines after Scott Milanovich moved on to the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars as quarterback coach.

The Argos’ offence will once again be led by veteran quarterback Ricky Ray. The 37-year-old and future hall of famer is entering his 14th CFL season and ranks fourth all-time in passing yards. He has an all new receiving corp that is led by S.J. Green and newly acquired Armanti Edwards.

Red-Hot Braves Look to Sweek Brewers

Atlanta Braves

Phillips Leading Scorching Braves Offense

The Atlanta Braves battle the Milwaukee Brewers at SunTrust Park on Sunday afternoon. The Braves will be looking to win their 5th straight game and sweep the 1st place Brewers. The Braves are also 4-1 against the Brewers this season.

Brandon Phillips his a go-ahead, two-run home run in the third inning Saturday. It sent the Braves on their way to a 3-1 victory over the Brewers at SunTrust Park. It was the third consecutive game with a homer for the Atlanta native who was traded to the Braves in February from the Reds.

Oddsmakers opened the Braves as -130-moneyline favorites versus the Brewers, while the game's total opened at 9.5. The total has stayed the same, but the Braves are down to a -110-moneyline favorite now.

Teams Best Starts on Mound Today

Right hander Zach Davies will take the mound for the Brewers to start this game. Davies is 7-4 this season with a 5.40 ERA. Davies is coming off a 7-3 loss to Pittsburgh in his most recent start Tuesday. He gave up seven runs on 10 hits, two of them home runs. He tied his career high for hits and runs allowed. Davies allowed six runs in the first inning. It put the Brewers in a hole from which they could not climb out of.

The Braves will counter Davies with Julio Teheran. Right hander Teheran has a 4.76 ERA to go along with a 6-5 record this season. Teheran probably deserved a better fate in his last outing. It was a 6-3 loss to San Francisco on Tuesday. Teheran pitched seven scoreless innings. He was betrayed by a long ball and some shaky defense. Three errors in the eighth erased his opportunity for a win. In 7 1/3 innings, Teheran allowed four runs (three earned) and six hits.

BC Lions and Edmonton Eskimos Open 2017 CFL Season

Eskimos CFL Football

Eskimos and Lions Lead the Wild West in 2017

The Edmonton Eskimos and the British Columbia Lions will meet at BC Place on Saturday in Edmonton. Both teams are chomping at the bit to get the season started. Both teams missed the 2016 CFL Grey Cup by one game.

The Lions lost to the Calgary Stampeders in the Western Final. The Eskimos fell to the eventual Grey Cup Champion Ottawa REDBLACKS in the other division final when they crossed over to the East. The disappointment of being so close to playing on the CFL’s biggest stage has no doubt lingered in through the offseason. Both teams will have the opportunity to start 2017 off and continue their pursuit of the Grey Cup.

Oddsmakers opened the BC Lions as 2.5 point favorites, but bettors have bet it up to see them as 4.5-point favorites. The total now at 61 after opening up at 58.

Lions and Eskimos Offenses are Still Intact

BC’s offensive core from the 2016 season has remained intact. Quarterback Jonathon Jennings had a breakout 2016 campaign. Jennings ranked third in touchdown passes with 27, and passing yards with 5,226. He is flanked by last year’s touchdown leader Emmanuel Arceneaux. He also has the equally dangerous Bryan Burnham. Together they formed the second-most illustrious duo of the 2016 campaign.

Edmonton will once again be a threat in the West with the help of star pivot Mike Reilly. The Central Washington alum, and 2015 Grey Cup MVP, leads an impressive offense. The Eskimos weapons include returnees Adarius Bowman, 2nd year man Brandon Zylstra, and former Argo Vidal Hazelton.

D’haquille ‘Duke’ Williams will also be making his Eskimos regular season debut on Saturday. The former Auburn Tiger star looked impressive during the pre-season. He rackedup 129 yards on three catches. Williams has the potential to fill the huge void that was left by Derel Walker. Walker is currently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
