Wings Travel to Face the Sparks in WNBA Action

Sparks WNBA Basketball

WNBA Legend Candace Parker on a Roll

The Dallas Wings and the Los Angeles Sparks will meet at STAPLES Center on Sunday. NBA TV will have the action starting at 5 pm EST.

Oddsmakers opened the Sparks as -12-point favorites versus the Wings, while the game's total opened at 171.

The Sparks were a 85-73 winner in their most recent outing on the road against the San Antonio Stars. They covered the -11-point spread as favorites, while the total score (158) made winners of OVER bettors.

Candace Parker produced one of the greatest al-around games in WNBA history on Friday. She will won't rest on her laurels on Sunday. Parker scored 11 points, snatched 17 rebounds and dished a career-high 11 assists in the Sparks' 85-73 win over San Antonio. It was only the sixth triple-double in league history. The feat was the first since Seattle's Temeka Johnson accomplished the feat on July 24, 2014, against New York.

Odyssey Sims led Los Angeles against San Antonio with a season-high 22 points. She shot 9-of-12 from the field. Jantel Lavender added 18 points and Nneka Ogwumike had in 11 points.

Parker is averaging 16 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season for the Sparks. They own the WNBA's second-best record at 16-6.

Wings Have Lost 8 of 12

Dallas lost its last outing, a 109-93 result against the Seattle Storm on July 28. The Wings failed to cover in that game as a +6-point underdog, while the 202 combined points took the game OVER the total. Dallas trailed by as many as 19 points before clawing back to within nine in the fourth quarter. The Storm took the take control of the game.

The Wings got plenty of scoring in the game against Seattle. They were led by Skylar Diggins-Smith's 18 points. Glory Johnson added 16 points. She also led the Wings with eight rebounds. Allisha Gray scored 15 and Kayla Thornton came off the bench to add 10 points. It was the defense that let down the Wings. Seattle shot 61.5 percent from the floor. They also made 73.3 percent of its 3-pointers. It was the most points Dallas has allowed in a game this season.

For the Wings, the game in Seattle marked the start of a two-game trip that continues in Los Angeles.

Dallas and Los Angeles have already played twice this WNBA season, with the Wings winning 96-90 at home on June 9 and the Sparks claiming a 97-87 victory at Staples Center on June 13.

Dodgers Look to Sweep Giants on Sunday Night Baseball

Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers Ryu Looks to Find a Rhythm

The Los Angeles Dodgers battle the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium. They will be looking for the clean sweep of the struggling Giants. The Dodgers are showing every week why they are the class of the National League West.

Starting this game for the Dodgers will be Hyun-Jin Ryu. The left hander has a 4.17 ERA to go along with a 3-6 record this season. Ryu is still battling to come back from surgery that cost him two seasons. He also had a toe injury this season. He has a 4-5 record and 3.79 ERA in 10 starts against the Giants.

Bumgarner Looks for Return to Normal

The Giants will trot Madison Bumgarner out to the mound in this one. Left hander Bumgarner has a 1-4 record and a 3.38 ERA this season. The Giants were headed toward the top of the division back in April when Bumgarner suffered an injury riding a dirt bike. The team missed him in the rotation as well as his often-menacing presence as a clubhouse leader. He is back and the Giants are 25-games below .500.

Bumgarner is 101-71 in his career. He pitched well in his four April starts before the injury. Bumgarner posted a 3.00 ERA, but the Giants lost all four games. He has been so-so in three starts since returning to the rotation. He earned his first win in just five innings against Pittsburgh. Bumgarner has been money against the Dodgers in his career. His record is 14-9 record and 2.70 ERA in 27 games.

Oddsmakers opened the Dodgers as -290-moneyline favorites versus the Giants, while the game's total opened at 9.5.

The Dodgers were a 2-1 winners yesterday against the Giants. That made winners of bettors who got Los Angeles at -306 on the moneyline, while the total score (3) was good news for UNDER bettors.

Alouettes & Blue Bombers on ESPN2

Blue Bombers Football

Blue Bombers Look to Get Over .500

The Montreal Alouettes and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be nationally televised by ESPN2 on Thursday night at Investors Group Field. Both teams are coming off narrow losses last week. Tonights game should be a hard-hitting showdown. Both teams show offensive fire-power so this game should be entertaning, to say the least.

Oddsmakers opened the Blue Bombers as -4.5-point favorites versus the Alouettes, while the game's total opened at 55. The line now shows the Bombers as 3.5-point favorites and the total has dropped to 50 points.

The Blue Bombers were a 45-42 loser in their most recent outing on the road against the BC Lions. They covered the +4-point spread as underdogs, while the total score (87) made winners of OVER bettors.

Winnipeg quarterback Matt Nichols threw for 254 yards with three touchdowns. He also a rushing TD and an interception. Darvin Adams racked up 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns at receiver. It also included a brilliant, one-handed grab in the corner of the end zone.

Linebacker Maurice Leggett will miss his second straight week with a lower-body injury. He was a surprising scratch from the Bombers’ lineup last week against BC. Running back Andrew Harris continues to be a dual threat. The Winnipeg native leads his team in receptions caught through five weeks of play.

The Bombers have won six of their last eight meetings with the Alouettes.

Alouettes' Darian Durant Playing Well

Montreal was a 24-19 loser in its last match on the road against the Ottawa RedBlacks. They failed to cover the +4-point spread as underdogs, while the total score of 43 sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.

Darian Durant racked up an impressive 452 passing yards in the loss.  He did this by throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions. Receivers Ernest Jackson and B.J. Cunningham posted 101 receiving yards each. It was also a milestone night for Nik Lewis. He became only the fourth player in CFL history to record 1,000 catches in his career.

The Alouettes will be without receiver Tiquan Underwood. He is out with an ankle injury. Taking his place in the lineup will be 24-year-old Eugene Lewis, who is making his CFL debut. Also out of the lineup is starting running back Tyrell Sutton. The veteran some routine rest but the 30-year-old is dealing with a calf injury.

What Member of Trump Administration Leave First?

Trump Administration

Trump Administration Odds: Who Will Leave Trump First?

These are not good times for the Trump Administration. The schism between Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress is growing wider every day. He has blindsided the Joints Chief of Staff by banning transgenders from the military. He has called the sitting US Attorney General out on several occasions.

Who will be the first key figure in Trump’s inner circle to abandon ship? Odds have been listed for four major candidates; Reince Priebus is the –150 favorite at press time, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions is right behind him at +135.

Trump has been openly critical of Sessions lately, tweeting his unhappiness about Sessions’ decision to recuse himself from the ongoing investigation into Russian interference during the 2016 presidential election. But Sessions has refused to step down from his post, telling reporters last Thursday that he’d remain as Attorney General “as long as that is appropriate.”

White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (+550) are next on the odds list, followed by Vice President Mike Pence at +2500. Pence has more incentive to stick around than the other three, since he’s next in line to become President if and when Trump is removed from office. Reports on Monday had Tillerson thinking about quitting his job “well before” the end of the year; Sessions is also –150 to leave his job before 2018 rolls around.

MLB Free Tuesday Pick- Baltimore Orioles at Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays Baseball

Orioles Look for More Even Play

This week’s three-game AL East tilt between the Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays moves to Game 2 on Tuesday night.  The game is a 7:10 p.m. (ET) start at Tropicana Field. The Orioles beat the Rays 5-0 on Monday night. BetAnySports has listed the Rays as -125 home favorites and the total line is now at 8.5.

The Orioles (48-51) swept the Texas Rangers last week in an extended four-game series. They then lost two of three to Houston over the weekend. All seven games were at home. They avoided the sweep against the Astros on Sunday. Sunday’s 9-7 slugfest had the Jays as +115 home underdogs. The total went OVER the 10.5-run line. The total has gone OVER in six out of Baltimore’s last seven games. That Orioles offense has a scoring average of seven plus runs a game in that stretch.

Look for Wade Miley to be on the mound for the Orioles on Tuesday night. The left-hander is 4-8 on the year with a 5.58 ERA and a 1.82 WHIP. He failed to get the decision in last Thursday’s start against the Rangers. Miley allowed five earned runs on seven hits across five innings of work. This was the second start in a row he got bounced around after giving up seven earned runs on nine hits against the Chicago White Sox on July 15.

Tampa Bay Rays are Losers of 5-Straight

Tampa Bay dropped three straight to Texas at home over the weekend after losing last week’s series finale against Oakland on the road. Add in last night's 5-0 home loss to the Orioles and the Rays are reeling. This five-game slide dropped the Rays to 51-49 on the year and 3.5 games in back of Boston in the AL East Division race. They are 27-23 at home this season and the total has stayed UNDER in five of their last eight home games on BetAnySports’ closing line.

It should be Jacob Faria’s turn in Tampa Bay’s starting rotation this Tuesday night. The right-hander got tagged with his first loss of the season against four wins his last time out. He allowed four earned runs on six hits in five innings pitched against Oakland last Wednesday. Faria faced the Orioles twice in late June and gave up a combined five earned runs on nine hits in a total of 12 2/3 innings pitched. His current ERA stands at 2.52 with a 1.08 WHIP.

I like Tampa Bay at home on Tuesday night with Faria on the mound. I expect him to bounce right back from last week’s shaky effort with the form that has made him so effective in the majority of his other outings this year.

Surprising Brewers Travel to Battle Nationals

Nationals Baseball

Nationals Face Surprising Division Leaders

The Milwaukee Brewers have been one of the biggest surprises of the season so far. With a 53-48 straight up record, they’re sitting atop in the National League Central. They have a 1/2-game lead on the Chicago Cubs. On Tuesday, they’ll head to the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Nationals, one of the World Series favorites. This will be the second of a four-game series.

Oddsmakers have the Nationals as a -127-moneyline favorite. The total is sitting at 10.

The Brewers will go with Zach Davies (11-4, 4.76), who took a no-decision in a 3-2 loss at Pittsburgh in his last outing. Davies went seven innings, allowing a run on eight hits with four strikeouts and a walk. This will be his first time facing the Nationals. He’s 5-0 in 10 road starts with a 3.18 ERA.

The Nationals counter with Gio Gonzalez (8-5, 2.83), who lost his last outing by a 7-0 score on the road against the Los Angeles Angels. Gonzalez gave up four runs on five hits over 5.2 innings, striking out three and walking three. Gonzalez is 2-3 in seven starts against the Brewers with an ERA of 4.95. He’s also 1-2 in nine home starts with a 1.95 ERA.

Going into their first meeting of the season, the two had split their last 10 games. Five games have gone over the posted total, with a push.
