NFL Week 4 has Huge Showdown Set in AFC North

Sunday’s early games in Week 4 of the NFL season features a big showdown in the AFC North. The matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens is a 1 p.m. kickoff. CBS Will televise the grudge match held at M&T Bank Stadium. BetAnySports opened the Steelers as 2.5-point road favorites. Oddsmakers set the opening total at 45 points. The line has since moved to Baltimore -3 and the total has fell to 42.

Steelers having Issues on Defense

Pittsburgh opened the new season with straight-up victories against Cleveland on the road and Minnesota at home. They were a favorite before Sunday’s stunning 23-17 overtime loss to Chicago at home.

The spread was 6.5-point. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ 43.5-point total line against the Bears. It has stayed UNDER in all three  games this season. The total has stayed UNDER in nine of the Steelers’ last 11 road games.

Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell continue to lead the Steeler offense. Offensively the Steelers are ranked 16^th in the NFL in points at 21.3 per game.  They are 22^nd in total yards per game with 302.3.

The biggest concern for this team right now is the defense. The former "Steel Curtain" is allowing an average of 122.7 rushing yards per game. The Bears rolled up 220 yards last week to inflate the average a bit.

Ravens Look to Rebound in NFL Week 4 after London Debacle

The Ravens also got a fast start out of the gate. they had division wins against Cincinnati on the road and Cleveland at home. This past Sunday’s the team had a meltdown in London. They were on the wrong end of a 44-7 rout at the hands of Jacksonville

The game was never close. The total went OVER BetAnySports’ 38-point total. The Jaguars’ went over the total themselves. Baltimore is also 2-1 ATS. The total has stayed UNDER in two of the three games this season. Offensively the Ravens are averaging 17 point per game.

Joe Flacco played one of his worst games ever in the course of his 10-year NFL career. He was replaced by Ryan Mallett. Flacco put the ball up 18 times against the Jaguars. He completed eight passes for 28 yards. Flacco also completed a pair of passes to Jacksonville players. The only thing that Baltimore did do right in that game was run the ball with 134 yards on 25 attempts.

Both teams will be looking to quickly get past a bad loss. I am betting that the Steelers are the ones to get it done both SU and ATS.

19th-Ranked San Diego State Hosts Northern Illinois

San Diego State Wary of Dangerous Huskies Team

The fans at Qualcomm Stadium will be treated to a game between the NIU Huskies and the 19th-ranked San Diego State Aztecs when they take their seats on Saturday. The game will be televised by CBS Sports Network and kickoff is set for 10:30 pm EST.

Oddsmakers have the Aztecs as 9-point favorites after opening at 12. The total is at 47.5.

San Diegs State Has One of Top Rushing Offenses in Nation

San Diego State won its last outing, a 28-24 result against the Air Force Falcons on September 23. The Aztecs covered in that game as a -1.5-point favorite, while the 52 combined points took the game OVER the total.

Northern Illinois is coming off a bye week. It followed its 21-17 road win against Nebraska on Sept. 16. The Huskies have proven to be adept at not allowing big-yardage plays through three games. They rank No. 8 in runs of 10 or more yards allowed. UNI's D has given up just nine. They have surrendered just two rushes of 20-plus yards. They have given up none of 30 or more.

Clemson Travels to Blacksburg to Face Virginia Tech

Clemson and VaTech in Rematch of ACC Championship Game

The 2nd-ranked Clemson Tigers and the 12th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies meet Saturday at Lane Stadium. This ACC clash is a rematch of the 2016 ACC Championship Game. The Hokies lost to Clemson 42-35, but were only 23 yards away from tying the game. The game will be televised by ABC and kickoff is set for 8 pm. EST.

Oddsmakers have Clemson as a 7-point favorite. The total is at 48.5.

Clemson, the defending national champions, pay their first visit to Blacksburg since beating the Hokies 23-3 in 2011. That game signaled a shift in the hierarchy in the ACC. Virginia Tech, who was a winner of four ACC championships from 2004-10, was on its way down. Clemson was on its way up. They have won three ACC titles and the 2016 national championship since then.

VaTech Looks to Get Back in ACC Elite

Virginia Tech was a 38-0 winner in its last match at home against Old Dominion Monarchs. They covered the -29-point spread as favorites, while the total score of 38 sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.

VaTEch has won five straight since losing the ACC Championship. They have dispatched its first four opponents this season in convincing fashion. It started with a big victory over rival West Virginia. They then had three straight blowouts over Delaware, East Carolina and Old Dominion. They have reached their highest rank in the Associated Press poll since 2011.

Clemson Getting it Done With New Faces on Offense

In their last action, Clemson was a 34-7 winner at home against Boston College Eagles. They failed to cover the -32-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (41) was profitable news for UNDER bettors.

Clemson has a lot of new faces on offense this year. That includes starting quarterback Kelly Bryant. He is a junior who has proven to be a handful as a passer. He is completing 67.9% of his passes. Bryant is also a good rusher, he has 268 yards and a team-leading seven touchdowns.

The Tigers average 272 rushing yards a game. They have a host of running backs that contribute. Freshman Travis Etienne leads the team with 292 rushing yards. He is one of three Clemson players with at least 249 yards on the ground.

Clemson's stout defense is ranked third nationally in fewest yards and points allowed. Its 17 sacks are tied for second-most in the country behind Michigan's 18.

Clemson had one of the toughest schedules in the nation over the first month of the season. They came out unscathed by beating No. 13 Auburn at home, and No. 17 Louisville,then survived a tough home game with Boston College last Saturday, 34-7.

No. 7 Georgia Heads to Rocky Top to Battle Vols

Georgia Going into Hostile Environment

The 7th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers will renew their long running SEC rivalry on Saturday. They battle at Neyland Stadium where the fans will make you want to jab your ears out with knitting needles singing "Rocky Top".

Neyland Stadium is one of the hardest venues in the nation to play in for visiting teams. It is going to be interesting to see how Georgia true freshman QB Jake Fromm reacts in a hostile environment. He handled the pressure at Notre Dame, but that is not like playing in some of these SEC Stadiums.

Oddsmakers have Georgia as a 9.5-point favorite. The line has went from 7 to 9.5 over the last 3 days. The total is at 47.

Georgia will have redemption on its mind Saturday. Tennessee won last season's game on a 43-yard Hail-Mary into the end zone from Joshua Dobbs.

That 34-31 final score held true to the recent history of the series. The last six games between the squads has been settled by eight points or less. three of the last four have been decided by a field goal.

Georgia Defense Looks to Keep Making Statement

Georgia won its last outing, a 31-3 result against The Mississippi State Bulldogs on September 23. UGA covered in that game as a -2.5-point favorite, while the 34 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

Georgia's offense is led by Jake Fromm. He was 9 of 12 for 201 yards and two touchdowns against Mississippi State. The senior backfield combination of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel is one of the top tandems in the nation. Chubb has 371 yards and six touchdowns. Michel 194 yards and two TDs. Chubb has not seen many carries in the 4th quarter this season because of blowout wins. Michel missed one game with an injury.

Georgia's defense has been making a statement all season. The Bulldogs enter Saturday ranked fourth in total defense in the SEC. They are giving up only 269.5 yards per game. Georgia's defense also rank third in scoring defense at 11.5 point per game.

They have a athletic defensive front seven. The unit is led up front by veterans John Atkins and Trenton Thompson. Inside linebacker Roquan Smith led the team in tackles last season. He has a team-high 27 this year. Outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter has three sacks this season. Davin Bellamy spearheaded a smothering effort in a 20-19 win at Notre Dame on Sept. 9.

Vols Look for Consistency on Offense

Tennessee won its last outing, a 17-13 result against UMASS Minutemen on September 23. Tennessee failed to cover in that game as a -27.5-point favorite, while the 30 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

The Volunteers' inconsistency on offense has fans grumbling about head coach Butch Jones. The problems on offense makes this game seems crucial to the rest of the season.

The Vols were victims of a 63-yard Hail Mary loss to Florida two weeks ago. Tennessee was also taken to the brink last Saturday by a winless Massachusetts team. They finally prevailed 17-13. Many after the game including Jones questioned the Volunteers' energy and passion.

Tennessee running back John Kelly leads the SEC with an average of 112.5 rushing yards per game. He will try to find holes in the tough Bulldogs' defense. Quinten Dormady remains the starting quarterback. Jones did turned to freshman Jarrett Guarantano for a spark against UMass. Guarantano completed 2 of 5 passes for minus-3 yards.
