Clemson Faces Dangerous Georgia Tech on ABC

Clemson Tigers Football

Clemson and Georgia Tech Meet in Prime-time

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the 7th-ranked Clemson Tigers  meet at Memorial Stadium in Clemson. ABC will televise the game nationally and kickoff is set for a few minutes after 8 pm EST.

Since losing back-to-back at N.C. State and South Carolina to end the 2011 regular season, Clemson is 10-0 following a loss. The Tigers have gone a school-record 78 consecutive games without losing two in a row.

Oddsmakers have the Tigers as 14-point favorites. The total is at 49.5.

Clemson hopes that some lessons are learned when the Tigers play a Georgia Tech team that could easily be undefeated. Coach Paul Johnson's Yellow Jackets lost a 42-41 double-overtime decision against Tennessee in their season opener. They then had a 25-24 loss at Miami on Oct. 14.

Something will have to give on Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets rank second in the nation averaging of 372.8 rushing yards per game. Clemson's rushing defense allows only 107.9 yards per game.  That ranks 13th nationally.

Georgia Tech averages 5.78 yards per rush, which is 12th in the nation. Clemson is eighth in yards allowed per rush at 2.90.

Clemson Uses Bye Week to Prepare for Triple-Option

In their last action, Clemson was a 27-24 loser on the road against the Syracuse Orange. They failed to cover the -23.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (51) was profitable news for UNDER bettors.

The Tigers' offense depends on the health of quarterback Kelly Bryant. He sustained an ankle injury against Wake Forest on Oct. 7. He was also knocked out of the Syracuse game late in the second quarter with a concussion.

The junior has rushed for 393 yards and passed for 1,375. He is expected to start.

Georgia Tech has High-Powered Offense

Georgia Tech was a 38-24 winner as they battled the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at home. The Yellow Jackets covered in the match as a -3.5-point favorite, while 62 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors.

Three Georgia Tech offensive linemen have been honored as ACC Lineman of the Week this season. Right guard Shamire Devine was the latest recipient. The senior had 10 knockdown blocks in last week's victory against Wake Forest. The Yellow Jackets rushed for 427 yards.

Quarterback TaQuon Marshall and sophomore B-back KirVonte Benson have been the main beneficiaries of the Yellow Jackets' offensive line. Marshall leads the league in rushing at 117.3 yards per game. Benson is second at 108.7. They have combined for 16 touchdowns.

Clemson has fared quite well against Georgia Tech's offense in recent years. In the past two meetings the Tigers have held the Yellow Jackets to a combined 166 yards on 80 carries.

Georgia Tech is 5-5 against Clemson since Johnson was named head coach. The Tigers have won four of the past five matchups since hiring defensive coordinator Brent Venables.

Georgia and Florida Mix it Up in Jacksonville

Georgia and Florida

Georgia and Florida in the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party

Georgia and Florida play every year in Jacksonville. To fans of these two schools that stadium will forever be called the Gator Bowl. The Game will always be dubbed "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party" no matter how much sanctimonious school officials try to distance themselves from the name.

The 3rd-ranked Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators will meet on Saturday when they battle at The GATOR BOWL, AKA...EverBank Field.

Kirby Smart's Bulldogs are in position to win the SEC East and are a College Football Playoff contender. Jim McElwain's Gators are just trying to find who they are.

It's been a tumultuous week in Gainesville. Mounting injuries and claims of death threats by McElwain has added to all the usual storylines for the rivalry game.

Florida has beaten Georgia in 21 of the past 26 meetings, but the Bulldogs were a two-touchdown favorite early this week.

Oddsmakers now have the Georgia Bulldogs favored by 12.5-points. The total is at 43 and dropping.

Florida Just Trying to Find Its Way

Florida was a 19-17 loser in its last match at home against the Texas A&M Aggies. They failed to cover the -3.5-point spread as favorites, while the total score of 36 sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.

Florida ranks 11th in the SEC in passing offense at 182.3 yards per game. It is last in passing TDs with only five. Feleipe Franks is 2-3 as a starter and took responsibility for UF's offensive struggles against Texas A&M. He completed 17 of 26 passes for 129 yards. Throw in having no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Georgia Offense is Operating in High Gear

In their last action, Georgia was a 53-28 winner at home against the Missouri Tigers. They failed to cover the -28.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (81) was profitable news for OVER bettors.

Georgia is averaging 454.3 yards per game. They are led by running backs Nick Chubb, who has 688 yards, and Sony Michel, who has 492 yards. Freshman D'Andre Swift has chipped in 358 yards as Chubb and Michel haven't played much in the 4th quarter of games.

Chubb is the seventh-leading rusher in SEC history with 4,042 yards. Freshman quarterback Jake Fromm has  played better with every game.

Saturday's contest in Jacksonville will represent another first for Fromm. He has yet to play in a rivalry game as intense as Georgia-Florida. Fromm has completed 75 of 121 passes for 1,162 yards. He also has 12 touchdowns and three interceptions.

ACC Football: Florida State Travels to Boston College

Boston College Football

Boston College is Looking for Payback

The Florida State Seminoles and the Boston College Eagles will meet on Friday in a key ACC matchup at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:00 pm EST. ESPN will televise the game nationally.

In 2016, Florida State's defense totally dominated Boston College. The Eagles were held scoreless until the last four minutes of a 45-7 Seminoles win. It was clear from the start of that Friday night contest that the for BC to move the ball was going to prevent any chance of an upset.

We're back on a Friday night for Florida State and Boston College. This time the game is in Chestnut Hill and the tables have turned. The Eagles have an offense that's surging while Florida State is struggling to put points on the board.

Oddsmakers have the Seminoles as 6.5-point favorites over the Eagles. The total is at 46.5.

Florida State and Boston College have experienced youth movements on offense this season. Freshmen will once again play major roles for each squad Friday night.

Quarterback James Blackman and running back Cam Akers have had to become starters for the Seminoles due to injuries. The Eagles have had to turn to quarterback Anthony Brown during the preseason by winning the job outright.  AJ Dillon has taken over as the lead running back the past two weeks.

Boston College Offense is Surging

Last time out for Boston College, they were a 41-10 winner as they battled the Virginia Cavaliers on the road. Boston College covered in the match as a +6.5-point underdog, while 51 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors.

The Eagles have totaled more than 500 yards of offense in wins against Louisville and Virginia the last two weeks. Brown has shown dramatic improvement running the offense. He is falling into rhythm with his receivers and it shows.

The biggest breakout star has been the true freshman Dillon. He rushed for 272 yards against Louisville. He jumped up in the national rankings for rushing yards among freshmen. Dillon is now at No. 4 trailing Jonathan Taylor of Wisconsin, JK Dobbins of Ohio State, and Spencer Brown of UAB with 694 yards.

It took a few games for Dillon and the offense to get rolling. The Eagles have a realistic shot at making a bowl game with a 4-4 record heading into Friday night's contest.

Florida State Looking for Answers

Florida State was a 31-28 loser in its last match at home against the Louisville Cardinals. They failed to cover the -6-point spread as favorites, while the total score of 59 sent OVER bettors to the payout window.

Every week from here on out isn't just Florida State playing for pride. The Noles' are playing to guarantee the continuation of the program's NCAA-best streak of 35 consecutive bowl games. It's hard to imagine a team that started the season in the top five would need a rally to make the postseason.

FSU is 2-4 with only five games remaining after losing out on playing ULM because of Hurricane Irma. They basically have to win out.

The offense has been woeful. As true freshman quarterback James Blackman has improved his play, the wide receivers have been banged up. Florida State moves the ball with some success at times. Finishing drives with touchdowns,or even successful field goals, has been a struggle.

For Florida State to avoid dropping to 2-5 with Clemson and Florida left on the schedule, they've got to do a better job of getting seven when they get into scoring position.
