Bucks Host Cavaliers Tuesday

Milwaukee Bucks

Bucks Look to Cool Red Hot Cavaliers

After some early season troubles, the Cleveland Cavaliers have gotten their act together and are rolling. They’ll be on the road Tuesday to take on the Milwaukee Bucks, one of their toughest division rivals. NBA TV will have the telecast starting at 8 pm EST.

Oddsmakers have the Cavaliers as a 1-point road favorite. The total is kicking around between 217 and 217.5.

Including their win in Washington Sunday night, the Cavaliers have won 18 of their last 19 games. LeBron James had 20 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds That was his sixth triple-double of the season and the 61st of his career. He moved to sixth on the all-time list.

Going into Monday’s games, Cleveland is second in the East only two games behind Boston. That was unheard of the way the Cavs started the season.

The Bucks, meanwhile, lost 115-111 Saturday night in Houston. It was their third loss in a row. Giannis Antetokounmpo put up 28 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. It wasn’t enough to carry the Bucks to victory. They’re now just two games above .500.

The Cavaliers are 8-2 straight up and 5-4-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Bucks. They have won five straight. Eight games have went over the posted total. Cleveland has won both meetings this season. Covering in one game and coming up with a push in the other.

Thunder and Nuggets Duke it Out Monday Night

OKC Thunder

Thunder Playing Better Last 9 Games

The fans at Chesapeake Energy Arena will see the Denver Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder when they take their seats on Monday. The game  will be broadcast in each teams local area and tip-off is at 8 pm EST.

Oddsmakers opened the Thunder as -5.5-point favorites versus the Nuggets, while the game's total opened at 210. The Thunder are now 5-point favorites.

Coach Billy Donovan has been resistant to making major changes in his rotation. He is working to shake the Thunder from their offensive struggles. Oklahoma City has won six of its last nine but the offense still hasn't been able to find cohesion with its Big Three.

Thunder Have to Play Well at Home

In their last action, Oklahoma City was a 111-96 loser on the road against the New York Knicks. They failed to cover the -4.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (207) was profitable news for OVER bettors.

During their three-game road trip that wrapped up against the Knicks, the Thunder won two of three. The trio of Westbrook, George and Anthony combined to shoot just 35.1 percent.  They hit only 59 of 168 shots.

Steven Adams is averaging a career-best 13.7 points. He also is shooting over 63 percent from the floor. He has become a very effective inside scorer on the pick-and-roll.

Nuggets Have Similar Problems as Thunder

Denver won its last outing, a 117-111 result against the New Orleans Pelicans on December 15. The Nuggets covered in that game as a -1.5-point favorite, while the 228 combined points took the game OVER the total.

The Nuggets have struggled to find footing as well. Now they have lost Paul Millsap to a left wrist injury. That injury figures to keep him out until after the All-Star break.

Denver is just 8-8 in its past 16 games. They have been consistent. They have never won more than two straight or losing more than two in a row.

The Nuggets are in the midst of a stretch of 10 of 13 games on the road. They are hoping the return of Nikola Jokic to the lineup will provide some stability.

Jokic was back in action Friday. He came off the bench in his first game back after missing more than two weeks with an ankle injury. He finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. That was in 22 minutes against New Orleans.

MNF Preview: Falcons and Bucs Toe in up in Tampa

Atlanta Falcons Football

Falcons Look to Keep NFC South Hopes Alive

The Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will meet on Monday Night Football to end Week 15 in the NFL. Raymond James Stadium in Tampa will host these NFC South division rivals. Kick-off is set for 8:30 pm EST and ESPN will have the coverage.

Oddsmakers opened the Falcons as -4.5-point favorites versus the Buccaneers, while the game's total opened at 47.5. The Falcons are 7-point favorites now and the total is up to 49.

For the Falcons it is not complicated. If they  win out in their last three games  they will win the NFC South title. That journey starts tonight on national television against the slumping Tampa Bay Bucs. They then finish the season at the Saints and then at home against the Panthers.

Atlanta is one game behind the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South standings. They put themselves in position by winning four of its last five games. The Falcons are currently the 6th place team in the Playoff structure.

Tampa Looking to Spoil the Postseason for the Falcons

Tampa Bay lost its last outing, a 24-21 result against the Detroit Lions on December 10. The Buccaneers failed to cover in that game as a +0-point underdog, while the 45 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

Winston has returned for battered Bucs. They are expected to be without star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy after he suffered a biceps injury the Lions.

The Bucs have been one of the NFL's biggest disappointments this year. They failed to build upon last season's 9-7 record. Many thought they would vastly improve, especially with the acquisition of wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

Tampa Bay's defense has struggled finding a pass rush all season. They rank 32nd in the NFL with 17 sacks. Gerald McCoy leads the Bucs with five sacks.

The Bucs had five turnovers against the Lions last week. Three of them by Winston. He threw two interceptions and had one lost fumble. Winston has 53 turnovers in 42 NFL games. The Bucs are 1-10 in games in which Winston throws multiple interceptions.

Controversy surrounds the talented Winston. He has a bum shoulder, is being investigated for sexually assaulting an Uber driver, and now it comes out that his relationship with Coach Dirk Koetter is not very stable.

Winston blames to coach for not supporting him properly when he got injured. He got his Feelz damaged and is walking around Butt-hurt.

Falcons Coming off Extra Rest after Last Thursday's Win Over Saints

Atlanta won its last outing, a 20-17 result against the New Orleans Saints on December 07. The Falcons covered in that game as a -2.5-point favorite, while the 37 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

The Falcons are receiving some extra rest after defeating the Saints 20-17 last Thursday. They have already beaten Tampa in Atlanta on Nov. 26th. It was  34-20 victory. The Bucs were playing their third consecutive game without injured quarterback Jameis Winston.

The Falcons were explosive in the earlier meeting against the Bucs. Matt Ryan was 26 of 35 for 317 yards and receiver Julio Jones had 12 receptions for 253 yards and two touchdowns.

The season has been schizophrenic with a 3-0 start, followed by three consecutive losses, then a protracted battle back into contention for the division crown and the playoffs.

Atlanta's defense held the Saints to 306 yards, with only 50 rushing the last time the teams met.  They will pose a challenge for Tampa Bay's mistake-prone offense.

Volunteers Host Tar Heels in Sunday NCAA Hoops

Tennessee Volunteers

Tennessee Volunteers Could Make Statement Win

The 20th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers host the 7th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Sunday afternoon. ESPN has the coverage starting at 5 pm EST.

The Volunteers program has been improving quickly since Rick Barnes was hired. They are ranked again this year and a win today over College Basketball Blue-Blood North Carolina would give the team a early statement win.

Oddsmakers have North Carolina as a 1.5-point road favorite. The total is hovering around 156.

A Tennessee win today would increase their national presence for a program that has not been relevant for a long time.

This marks the first time since Feb. 27, 2010, that two nationally ranked men's teams meet on Tennessee's home court. The Volunteers hadn't been ranked since December 2010.

Today is a chance for North Carolina to build on its recent success. Players continue to blend into bigger roles than they have had in the past. The Tar Heels suit up for the first time in 11 days following a break for exams.

The Volunteers often do well in such settings such as these. Since 1999, Tennessee has won five straight home games against teams that are reigning national champions.

The Tar Heels are 4-7 under coach Roy Williams in non-conference road games against top 20 teams.

Barnes' teams are 6-11 lifetime against North Carolina. This, obviously, counts his time as coach at Clemson and Texas.

Matchups on Both Teams May be the Key

North Carolina has junior forward Luke Maye. He has emerged as one of the top players in the country this season by averaging 19.9 points per game. Tennessee has 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Grant Williams. He is scoring a team-leading 16.1 points per game. This matchup may determine the outcome.

UNC has averaged 93 points per game during its four-game winning streak. North Carolina made a school-record 72.7 percent of its 3-point attempts their a romp past Western Carolina before exam break. They were 16 of 22 from behind the arc.

North Carolina leads the series 9-1. The Tar Heels had to pull out a 73-71 home victory last December by overcoming a 15-point deficit. Joel Berry II didn't play against Tennessee last year because of an ankle injury.

North Carolina is the third of four Atlantic Coast Conference teams that the Volunteers will face during a 30-day stretch. They have already defeated North Carolina State and Georgia Tech. They visit Wake Forest next weekend.
