Celtics Host Knicks in Battle of Ancient Rivals

Boston Celtics

Celtics Have Dominated Knicks Recently

One of the oldest rivalries in the NBA resumes Wednesday night (8 PM ET, ESPN) when the Boston Celtics host the New York Knicks. Boston has enjoyed the edge in this battle over the past three-plus seasons. They are 10-4 SU and 8-6 ATS, including 6-2 SU and 4-3 ATS at home. That includes a 110-89 victory on October 24 as 7.5-point favorites.

Oddsmakers have Boston as a 5.5-point favorite. The total is at 202.

The Knicks (23-28 SU, 27-24 ATS) have done very well for themselves at Madison Square Garden. They are 15-9 ATS at home, but they’ve fallen apart in away games at 11-15 ATS. New York appears to have adapted somewhat after playing a road-heavy schedule since the holidays. Fourteen of their last 17 games were away from Madison Square Garden. The Knicks are 7-7 ATS during this stretch.

New York also has a different lineup for their rematch with the Celtics (35-15 SU, 30-19-2 ATS). Jarrett Jack has taken over the starting point guard role from Ramon Sessions. Sessions is no longer with the team.

The Knicks also signed back-up point guard Trey Burke from the G-League two weeks ago. This has given them a welcome scoring boost from the bench. The Over is 9-1 in New York’s last 10 games.

Home-Court Advantage Could be Key in Raptors - Timberwolves Game

Raptors Basketball

Raptors Nipping on the Celtics Heels

The Toronto Raptors have moved within one game of first place in the Eastern Conference standings. On Tuesday, they’ll try to inch closer to the Boston Celtics and that top spot when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Oddsmakers have the Raptors as 6.5-point favorites while the total is at 218.5.

Bet on basketball at Bovada and get a 50% bonus.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics stumbling into the All-Star Break. The Raptors are making their move. They have won four of their last six games entering Tuesday’s affair. One of those recent losses was in Minnesota. They lost 115-109 on January 20, so the Raptors will be looking for some revenge.

The T-Wolves played in Atlanta on Monday. It was a 105-100 loss. They’ve been much stronger at home (20-6) than on the road (12-15) this season. They have dropped six of their last seven away games. They are scoring an average of 104.8 points per game in that span. That’s a significant drop-off from the 110.8 points per game they average at home.

Home-court advantage has been important in this series. The home team has won each of the last three meetings. However, the Raptors are just 4-3 in their last seven home games overall.

Americans Expected to Bet $4.76 Billion on Super Bowl LII

We are less than a week away from Super Bowl LII and the sportsbooks are going crazy.  According to the latest release by the American Gaming Association, Americans expected to bet $4.76 billion on Super Bowl LII.  That is $6 million more than last year’s Super Bowl.

Americans Expected to Bet $4.76 Billion on Super Bowl LIIKeep in mind that 2017 Super Bowl betting was a record year for Las Vegas which made out with a 7.9% return!

As always, the AGA made their announcement just a few days before Super Bowl Sunday where the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the New England Patriots.  According to their release, only 3% of the $4.76 billion will actually be wagered at legal sportsbooks.  The majority of the 2018 Super Bowl wagers will take place at offshore sportsbooks and local corner bookies and online bookie operations.

This release also happens to coincide as the U.S. Supreme Court is about to release a ruling that could make sports betting legal outside of Nevada.  A decision is expected to take place between March of 2018 and June of 2018.  In addition, this also coincides with the NBA stating that if sports betting become legal, they want to get 1% of the total amount wagered on its games.

AGA President and CEO, Geoff Freeman who is an advocate towards legalizing sports betting across the United States stated that "Thanks to the failed federal ban on sports betting, Americans are sending billions of their hard-earned dollars to corner bookies, shady offshore operators and other criminal enterprises,"

Offshore Sports Betting expect even more Super Bowl Betting this Year

On the other hand, according to a survey from the top sportsbook pay per head provider, Super Bowl wagers this year are expected to be 3.6% higher than the previous year.  This is based on an increase in new players and a strong retention rate.

Add a strong economy to the mix and the popularity of both teams at this year’s Super Bowl makes for a great wagering combination.

In most years, the Super Bowl has been a great money maker for the sportsbook.  According to statistics from the Nevada Gaming Control, sports betting operations have come out on top in 25 of the last 27 Super Bowls.

What will also help is the recent $1 million bet on the Eagles by a single bettor.  The bet was the Eagles at +165 money line taken by William Hill U.S.  This has brought some attention to the NFL wagering world while at the same time showing that only a legitimate sportsbook could have taken such a large bet.

If you still have not placed your bet on the Super Bowl, take a look at our list of online sportsbook on the right.

Duke Hosts UVA in ACC Clash

Duke Basketball

Duke Faces Best Defense in Nation

The 2nd-ranked Virginia Cavaliers and the 3rd-ranked Duke Blue Devils meet on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. This ACC clash will definitely have a bearing on the ACC Championship. Tip-off is set for 2 pm EST. CBS will broadcast the game nationally.

Oddsmakers opened the Blue Devils as -4.5-point favorites versus the Cavaliers, while the game's total opened at 135. Duke is now a 3.5-point favorite and the total is down to 134.

Virginia ranks number 1 in the country in defense. The Cavaliers are allowing 51.6 points per game. The Cavaliers' last three opponents have been held under 50 points.

This marks the 15th time two top-five teams are meeting at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke is 11-3 in the first 14 contests.

Virginia holds a two-game lead on second-place Duke in the ACC standings. This is the only regular-season meeting between the teams, so this is an important game for both squads. The Cavaliers are 8-0 in the ACC for the first time since a 12-0 start in 1980-81.

High Powered Duke Offense On Notice

Duke won its last outing, a 84-70 result against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on January 23. They covered in that game as a -10-point favorite.

Duke is averaging 91.7 points per game. The Blue Devils have scored 80 or more points in 16 straight games. That is a tie for fifth among all-time ACC stretches of that production.

The average outings from the combo of Duke's Wendell Carter Jr. and Marvin Bagley III would be the same as some entire teams against Virginia. Bagley leads the ACC with averages of 21.6 points and 11.5 rebounds. Carter is coming off consecutive outings of 20-plus points.

Duke has four players averaging more than 14 points. Grayson Allen is averaging 15.2 ppg.

Virginia Defense is No Joke

Virginia won its last outing, a 61-36 result against the Clemson Tigers on January 23. They covered in that game as a -9.5-point favorite. This marks the fewest points ever allowed by the Cavaliers against a ranked opponent.

Virginia's top scorer is guard Kyle Guy at 15.2 points per game.

For Virginia, this marks the third road game in a four-game stretch.
