NCAA Championship Game: Michigan and Villanova Go for Title

NCAA Championship Game

Top Offense Vs. Top Defense in NCAA Championship Game

The Michigan Wolverines and the Villanova Wildcats will meet on tonight at Alamodome. The 2018 NCAA Championship in Men's Basketball is on the line. Tip-Off is set for 9:20 pm EST. TBS will have the coverage.  TNT will have coverage that is focused on Michigan and TRU TV will have the coverage focused on Villanova.

Oddsmakers opened the Wildcats as -6.5-point favorites versus the Wolverines, while the game's total opened at 146. The line is now Villanova -7 and the total is down to 144.5.

No. 1-seeded Villanova will attempt to win its second national championship in three years. The Wildcats are the top seed in the East and they have put on a shooting clinic so far. While dispatching Kansas 95-79 in the national semifinal on Saturday night they were on fire. They hit 18 shots from 3-point land to set a Final Four record. The previous mark was 13.

Michigan has already set a single-season record for victories so far. They will play in their seventh national championship game in program history. The Wolverines roared back from a 10-point deficit in the second half to beat NCAA, and media darling Loyola-Chicago 69-57.

Michigan will play Villanova for the fifth time ever. This is the second time in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats defeated Michigan 59-55 in the second round of the '85 NCAA Tournament.

Villanova Has Many Weapons in NCAA Championship Game

Villanova was led by junior Eric Paschall against Kansas. He shot an incredible 10 of 11 from the field and finished with 24 points. Only UCLA's Bill Walton had a better shooting night in a Final Four matchup. Walton was 21 of 22 in 1973.

The Wildcats also received 18 points from Jalen Brunson as well as 15 points and 13 rebounds from Omari Spellman. Villanova has been a balanced team the entire tournament.

Villanova has won games many kinds of ways through the NCAA Tournament. When 3-pointers weren't dropping in the Elite Eight against Texas Tech the Wildcats found other ways to win. They hit 29 of 35 free throws while going an atrocious 4 of 24 from behind the arc.

Villanova won the national championship in 1985 and 2016. A third title only one game away, potentially. Legendary coach Rollie Massimino guided the '85 team. He was in attendance in '16, but passed away about six months ago.

Michigan is Playing Best Basketball for NCAA Championship Game

Michigan will play in its first championship game since 2013. A victory over Villanova would close its season with 15 consecutive wins.

Moritz Wagner was outstanding against Loyola-Chicago with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The kid shot 10 of 16 from the floor. Wagner is a 6-foot-11 junior and can play all over the floor. He was only the third player to score 20-plus points with 15-plus rebounds in a national semifinal game. He joined Larry Bird in 1979 and Hakeem Olajuwon in 1983.

Michigan's unlikely season will continue. After going 19-7 through the first 26 games, they have put it in high gear as they try to win its second career national championship.

Sunday Night Baseball: Dodgers Host the Giants

Los Angeles Dodgers

Dodgers Look to Salvage Split

The Los Angeles Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants in the season opener of Sunday Night Baseball. First pitch is scheduled for 8:37 pm EST. ESPN will have the coverage at the conclusion of the NCAA Women's National Championship Game.

Oddsmakers have the Dodgers as a -180-moneyline favorite. The total is at 7.5 Under -115.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Chris Stratton (2017: 4-4, 3.68 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Rich Hill (2017: 12-8, 3.32)

Dodgers have to get Offense Going

After being held scoreless in their first two games, the Los Angeles Dodgers put five runs on the board last night. They will look to earn a split of their four-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants on Sunday.

Kenta Maeda struck out 10 over five innings in Saturday's 5-0 victory as the Dodgers recorded their first win following back-to-back 1-0 losses.

The Dodgers' pitching staff has a 0.67 ERA through three games. They sure could use some offensive support from players such as Yasiel Puig, Cody Bellinger and Logan Forsythe. The sluggers are a combined 0-for-28 to open the season.

Closer Kenley Jansen wasn't needed Saturday, but his velocity was a hot topic after his cutter was clocked a tad slower than usual on Friday. He allowed Joe Panik's solo blast in the ninth inning.

Hill had a rough spring. He had a 7.30 ERA across 12 1/3 innings in four spring training games. That includes a rough five-inning stint against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. The 38-year-old has battled blister problems over the past two years. He did post a 3.31 ERA in his final 23 starts last season.

Hill is 5-2 with a 2.43 ERA in 11 career starts versus the Giants. This is including 2-0 with a 1.62 ERA in three turns last season.

Giants are a Question Mark for 2018

There are few few concerns in the Giants' bullpen. Hunter Strickland has taken over for Mark Melancon after his right elbow problems. He has led a rejuvenated group that hasn't allowed a run over nine innings in the first three games.

The bullpen has been surprisingly sharp, but the Giants are 1-for-21 with runners in scoring position. Newcomer Evan Longoria is hitless in his first 11 at-bats.

Stratton earned a spot in the rotation after posting a 3.29 ERA over 27 1/3 at the end of last season. He drawing raves for his improved curveball. The 27-year-old native of Mississippi owns a 1-1 record and 6.75 ERA in three career games (two starts) against the Dodgers.

Spurs Host Rockets on ABC

Spurs Basketball

Spurs In Must Win Situation in Crowded West

Plenty is on the line when the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets square off Sunday afternoon at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. This Texas rivalry tips off at 3:30 pm EST. ABC will televise the game nationally.

Oddsmakers have the Rockets as 1.5-point favorites. The total is 207.5.

The Spurs are back up to fourth in the Western Conference. LaMarcus Aldridge has been playing through some pain to lead the team, but the race is far from over. The Rockets are much more secure in their position at No. 1 in the West. They are still going strong with wins in 11 straight.

San Antonio is just a half-game ahead of Minnesota and Oklahoma City. They are tied for fifth place. The Spurs are one game ahead of Utah and New Orleans, who are tied for seventh. The Spurs are three games ahead of the ninth-place Clippers with only six to play. San Antonio hasn't missed the playoffs since 1997.

The Rockets don't need any more wins after clinching the No. 1 spot. They refuse to lose and recovered from a 21-point, second-half deficit, to stun the Phoenix Suns in a 104-103 win on Friday. Houston is starting to rest players and didn't have Chris Paul or Eric Gordon available on Friday. They leaned on its depth. Gerald Green buried the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Rockets have clinched the NBA's best record and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

Rockets Keep on Rolling as it Meets Spurs

Houston has taken the first three games of the season series by an average of 14 points. There would definitely be a sense of accomplishment in sweeping its longtime rival.

James Harden had 28 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in helping piece together the Rockets' second-largest comeback of the season.

It was Houston's 32nd win in its past 34 games. The Rockets are the first team since the 2010-11 Spurs to have three double-digit winning streaks in the same season. They have streaks of 17 and 14 consecutive games before the latest run.

Spurs Can't afford a Slip-up Down the Stretch

Four of San Antonio's last six games are against teams with winning records, so every win is a monster

Aldridge suffered a knee injury in Tuesday's 116-106 loss at Washington. He was questionable heading into Thursday but ended up playing 34 minutes and collecting 25 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Manu Ginobili is trying to do his part as well and scored 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench against the Thunder.

Spurs SF Kyle Anderson is 19-of-27 from the floor over the last five games.

Sunday's game is infinitely more important for the Spurs. San Antonio has little room for error. After the game against Houston today, just two home games remain.

The Spurs are 30-8 at home - the third-best mark in the league - but just 14-24 on the road.

NCAA Final Four: Villanova Wildcats vs. Kansas Jayhawks Preview

NCAA Final Four 2018

Villanova and Kansas Jayhawks Battle in Late Final Four Matchup

The NCAA Tournament has been as wild as ever in 2018. There is some sanity in San Antonio. College powerhouses and No. 1 seeds Villanova and Kansas square off Saturday in an intriguing Final Four matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:49 pm EST. TBS Superstation will have the telecast.

Oddsmakers have Villanova as 5-point favorites in this Final Four matchup. The total has settled at 155.

Villanova defeated Texas Tech 71-59 in the East region of the Elite Eight. Kansas ousted Duke 85-81 in an overtime instant classic in the Midwest.

This is the sixth Final Four appearance for the Wildcats and the second in the last three years. They captured the national title in 2016. It was the program's second championship. One more victory would tie the 35 wins of the 2016 team.

This will be the third meeting between the schools during March Madness. Villanova defeated the Jayhawks in the 2016 South Regional Final. in Kansas was victorious in the 2008 NCAA regional semifinal.

Villanova is a Well Rounded Team That Can Shoot

Villanova began this Final Four run by draining a bevy of 3-pointers. They're hardly defined by just shooting, though. They hit just 4 of 24 triples against Texas Tech and still managed to win.

Villanova has pummeled 436 3-pointers so far. They enter the Final Four just six shy of the NCAA single-season record for made 3-pointers set by VMI in 2007.

Villanova guard Jalen Brunson is a National Player of the Year candidate. He was named the Most Outstanding Player at the East Regional. Brunson averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in Boston. He was a part of the 2016 National Title team.

The Wildcats have won their four tournament games by 26, 23, 12 and 12 points. The Elite Eight win over Texas Tech followed a different formula than the first three games. Villanova shot only 33.3 percent against the Red Raiders and finished with 71 points. Well below the team's country-leading average of 86.6 points

Kansas is Not Stranger to the Final Four

Kansas advanced to its 15th Final Four in program history. This is the third under head coach Bill Self. The Jayhawks last advanced to the Final Four in 2012 when they fell in the title game to Kentucky.

Guard Devonte' Graham was the Big 12 Player of the Year. He is the only Division I player averaging more than 17.0 points, 7.0 assists and 1.6 steals while committing fewer than 3.0 turnovers per game.

Guard Malik Newman was named Midwest Regional Most Outstanding Player. He averaged a team-high 21.8 points in its first four NCAA Tournament wins. He scored a career-high 32 points in the Elite Eight win against Duke.

The Jayhawks have five double-digit scorers on the season. Graham, who is part of a four-guard attack, and big man Udoka Azubuike, who is coming into form after missing the Big 12 Tournament with a knee injury.

Newman has made 13 3-pointers in the last three games. He is averaging nearly 26 points per game in that stretch. Lagerald Vick has been consistent with either 13 or 14 points in all four games of the tournament.

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk notched 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists against Duke. The Jayhawks' fate likely will come down to Graham, who had a game-high 17 points two years ago when Kansas was upended by Villanova in the Elite Eight.

NCAA Final Four: Loyola-Chicago Ramblers vs. Michigan Wolverines Preview

NCAA Final Four 2018

Loyola-Chicago Ramblers vs. Michigan Wolverines Final Four Preview

Will it be the NCAA Final Four version of the movie "Hoosiers"? The 11th seeded Loyola-Chicago Ramblers will take on West Region champion, Michigan Wolverines. The South Region Champion Ramblers battle for the right to play for this year’s national championship. Michigan was the #3-seed out of the West.

Oddsmakers have the Wolverines as 5-point favorites and the total is at 130. Tip-off for this game is set for 6:09 pm EST. TBS Superstation will have the telecast.

The late game on Saturday between Villanova and Kansas is the more marquee matchup. Michigan and Loyola will battle in the early game to see if their unexpected feel-good stories will continue. The winner gets to the national championship game.

Loyola and the whole Sister Jean phenomenon have overtaken college basketball fans everywhere. This game will definitely have plenty of eyeballs watching it.

Michigan Can Make Final Four Playing all High Seeds

Michigan may become the first team to advance to the national championship game without playing a team seeded fifth or higher. The way Michigan has been playing the last couple of months proves they are no fluke.

Michigan entered the tournament as one of the hotter teams in the country. They had wins over top-10 opponents Michigan State and Purdue in the Big 10 Tournament. The Wolverines haven't slowed down a bit. They are on a 13-game winning streak. The team has proven it can win offensively and defensively.

The Wolverines have been bad on offense in three of their four tournament wins. The lone exception was a 99-point outburst in a 99-72 regional semifinal win over Texas A & M.

A buzzer-beating 3-pointer from 30-feet by Jordan Poole beat Houston in the second round. Stellar defense throughout so far and Michigan has advanced to its second Final Four in the past six years.

The Wolverines present a huge problem for the Ramblers. 6-foot-11-inch Moe Wagner is the HUGE PROBLEM. Wagner is good enough to post up yet skilled enough to step out and play from the wing. He can drain 3's as easily as he can play with his back to the hoop.

The Ramblers do not have a defender, on paper, that can hang with Wagner. Six-foot-nine-inch freshman Cameron Krutwig can match up with Wagner in the post. If Wagner takes the Loyola center outside, he may is in trouble.

Final Four Has its Cinderella

Very few had the Ramblers penciled to make it to the Final Four. If they say they did ask to see their bracket.  In reality that is what the mid-major out of the Missouri Valley Conference finds itself after a dream ride.

The Ramblers had back-to-back buzzer-beating wins over Miami and Tennessee in the first two rounds. Then a one-point win over Nevada in a regional semifinal. They then routed Kansas State 78-62.

Loyola is guard-heavy team that relies on ball movement and penetration. Loyola will have its toughest test of the season. The Michigan defense has shut opposing guards down throughout its winning streak. Michigan has the best defense left in the tournament.

The Ramblers are one of the best defensive teams as well. That is not just in the tournament but in the entire nation. They have limited teams to just 62.4 points per game. Each of Loyola’s last 10 opponents has been held to 68 or fewer points.

Where the Ramblers really excel though is on offense. They rival Villanova as the best shooting team in the Final Four. Loyola has hit 50.9 percent of its shots from the floor. They also have hit 40 percent from 3-point range.

If they don’t get you with the 3-pointer, the Ramblers’ offense is well-versed in the art of the backdoor cut and driving to the hoop.

MLB Opening Day: Rockies and DBacks Renew Rivalry

Diamondbacks MLB Opening Day

Rockies have MLB Opening Day Where 2017 Ended

The Colorado Rockies have their MLB Opening Day in 2018 right where their 2017 ended. In a rematch of the NL Wildcard Game, the Arizona Diamonbacks host the Colorado Rockies. Chase Field in Phoenix will host the game. First pitch is set to be thrown at 10:10 pm EST.

Oddsmakers have the DBacks as -107-moneyline favorites. The total is 8 Flat (-110 both sides).

Optimism is high on both teams as the 2018 season kicking off. With the Los Angeles Dodgers heavily favored to win the NL West, Colorado and Arizona could be forced down the same road as last season.

The Diamondbacks defeated the Rockies 11-8 before being swept by the NL champion Dodgers in the Division Series.

Each Team Has Superstar Firepower

Each team boasts a bona fide superstar. Arizona has Paul Goldschmidt who had numbers of a .297 batting average, 36 home runs, 120 RBIs in 2017. Colorado has third baseman Nolan Arenado and his line of .309, 37, 130, and a Gold Glove winner for the fifth straight season.

These players finished third and fourth, respectively, in NL MVP voting last year.

They will be expected to carry their clubs again. Throw in Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon and the Rockies can get things going quickly. Blackmon was the 2017 NL batting champion who hit at .331.

The D-backs will enter the season without right fielder J.D. Martinez. He became one of the most historically impactful trade-deadline acquisitions of all time last season. He had 29 homers and 65 RBIs in 62 games with Arizona last year.

MLB Opening Day Pitchers Had Quality Springs

Colorado's Jon Gray makes his second straight Opening Day start. Patrick Corbin will go for the Diamondbacks as ace Zack Greinke is dealing with a groin injury.

Gray made only 20 starts in 2017 because of a foot injury. He had his stuff as he struck out 112 in 110 1/3 innings That increased his career totals to 337 in 319 frames. The 26-year-old kid from Oklahoma finished spring training strong. He allowed five hits and fanned 11 in 9 1/3 scoreless innings over his past two outings.

Gray is 2-2 with a 4.75 ERA in five career starts versus Arizona. He was 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA in two turns at Chase Field with both coming last season.

Corbin yielded seven runs (six earned) in 11 innings in the spring. He walked five and struck out eight. He was 14-13 with a 4.03 ERA last season. Corbin was 2-1 with a 4.03 in four starts against the Rockies last year. He is 7-3 with a 4.76 ERA against them in 17 career appearances.

MLB Opening Day: Aces on the Hill as Mariners Host Indians

MLB Opening Day in Seattle

King Felix Looks to Rebound on MLB Opening Day

MLB Opening Day is here for anxious Americans. The Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Indians will wrap up the action from America's Pastime with the late game.  First pitch is set for 10:00 pm EST. ESPN will have the coverage.

Oddsmakers have the Indians as -170-favorites on the moneyline. The total is sitting at 7Under -125.

Corey Kluber edged Felix Hernandez for the American League's Cy Young Award in 2014. That should have been the start of some epic battles for the AL Cy Young award. Everyone thought that this could be like Pedro Martinez and Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson going at it year after year in the 90's.

That hasn't happened. The careers of the two 31-year-old hurlers have taken vastly different paths. That was clearly evident last year. Kluber earned his second Cy Young while Hernandez battled injuries and pitched fewer than 100 innings.

There was little doubt Kluber would start opening day for the Indians. After going 18-4 last year with a major league-leading 2.25 ERA he earned that job with little argument.

That wasn't the case for Mariners manager Scott Servais. James Paxton turned into the team's No. 1 starter last season in Hernandez's absence. It didn't help that King Felix was limited to five innings this spring either. He was hit in his right forearm by a line drive in his first start.

This will be Hernandez's 11th Opening Day start and his 10th straight. The only pitchers in history with streaks longer than 10 are Jack Morris (14), Robin Roberts (12) and Tom Seaver (12).

Kluber Primed for Another Great Season Again in 2018

Hernandez will face a tough task against an Indians team that won 102 games last season. Who can forget their  league-record 22-game winning streak. They won the AL Central for the second consecutive season. Cleveland fell just short of winning the 2016 World Series but had an early  exit last year.

Hernandez, who won the AL Cy Young in 2010, is 7-6 with a 2.95 ERA in 16 career starts against the Indians. He's got a 6-2 record on Opening Day.

Kluber is 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in four career starts against the Mariners, who went 78-84 last season. Kluber is primed for another strong season. He went 4-0 with a 2.29 ERA in five spring starts while striking out 25 over 19 innings.

Cleveland 1B Yonder Alonso replaces the departed Carlos Santana. He belted a career-high 28 homers with Oakland and Seattle in 2017.

AmericasBookie.com Sportsbook Review

Our staff and several of our visitors have been using their sports betting service for several years without any incident.  To keep our opinion unbiased, we sent someone that has never used their service before to evaluate AmericasBookie.com. Here is what they had to say about them:

At first glance, I loved how their website is designed and how easy it is to navigate thru it.  Making my deposit via Bitcoin was fast and as soon as they received the funds, I also received my bonus. Placing a bet on their mobile betting interface was a breeze.  In fact, it was so easy that my wife who knows nothing about gambling could do it.

The betting lines they offer are for the most part competitive and their Live Betting odds are even better. I tried my hand in their casino in-between games and thought it was adequate but not outstanding.

Overall, I like their betting platform and when I requested my first payout their customer service department was very helpful.
