Bieber, Indians Set to Face Eovaldi, Red Sox on Tuesday

Red Sox Baseball

Indians Look to Keep Playing Well At Red Sox

The Cleveland Indians will visit the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. This is a matchup of two of the top teams in the American League. At least for now. The Indians send Shane Bieber to the mound opposite Nathan Eovaldi.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, STO (Cleveland), NESN (Boston).

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Shane Bieber (6-2, 4.37 ERA) vs. Red Sox RH Nathan Eovaldi (5-4, 3.62).

Odds: The Red Sox are -150-moneyline favorites. The total is 9Over -115.

The Red Sox have lost three straight only once all season. That was on April 21-24. They are the only team in the majors without a four-game losing streak this season.

Cleveland is 16-4 in its last 20 road games.

Bet on baseball and get a 50% bonus.

Bieber has been solid for the Indians after stumbling in the month of July. He has posted a 2.70 ERA in August while leading Cleveland to a pair of wins in three starts. The Indians have won four of his six road starts this season.

Eovaldi convinced the Red Sox to trade for him by posting a 4.26 ERA in 10 starts with the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this season. Eovaldi has been solid since arriving in Boston. He has won three of his four starts while giving up one earned run or fewer in three of those outings.

Along with his solid record he has a 1.04 WHIP this season

Neither starter has faced his opponent this season. With both the Red Sox and Indians on a potential playoff collision course, this should be an intriguing matchup on Tuesday night.

PREDICTION: Red Sox 4, Indians 2

KC Royals vs. Tampa Bay Rays MLB Betting Preview

Tampa Bay Rays Baseball

Royals vs. Rays MLB Betting Preview August 21st

Tuesday, August 21 at 7:10 PM ET

 Tropicana Field

 Dome

Odds: Royals are -269-moneyline favorites. The total is 7 Under -113.

Blake Snell looks to continue his stellar season and make his case for the American League Cy Young Award when the Rays continue their three-game series against the Royals.

Sparkman makes first career start

Glenn Sparkman (0-1, 4.95 ERA, 1.55 WHIP) had his first MLB start last time out. He gave up two earned runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts over four innings to get a no-decision in a 6-2 win against the Blue Jays last Thursday.

Sparkman is 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA in five relief appearances on the road. He has a 5.56 ERA in four games (one start) in August (seven earned runs in 11 1/3 innings).

The Royals have scored 459 runs (30th in the majors). They are putting up 3.67 runs per game (30th), hitting .240 (26th) with 108 home runs (27th).

Kansas City ranks 30th with a 5.28 ERA, 29th with a 1.49 WHIP and 29th with 899 strikeouts. Their bullpen ranks 29th with a 5.20 ERA.

Salvador Perez leads the Royals with 21 home runs and 60 RBI. Lucas Duda has 11 home runs and 43 RBI. Whit Merrifield has team-bests with a .303 batting average, a .371 OBP and 144 hits.

Snell wins second straight start

Blake Snell (14-5, 2.10 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) threw five scoreless innings against the Yankees last Thursday. He surrendered just two hits and a walk with six strikeouts in a 3-1 win. Snell is 2-0 with an 0.64 ERA in three starts since returning from the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

He has allowed just one earned run in 14 innings with a nice 5/1 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K/BB). The left-hander was on a pitch count last Thursday but with the way he's pitching, his limits will vanish and he'll get longer outings.

The Rays have scored 513 runs (23rd in the majors). They are putting up 4.10 runs per game (24th), hitting .251 (11th) with 112 home runs (26th). Tampa Bay ranks 7th with a 3.74 ERA, 4th with a 1.20 WHIP and 13th with 1078 strikeouts.

Their bullpen ranks 10th with a 3.74 ERA. C.J. Cron leads the Rays with 24 home runs and 59 RBI and Daniel Robertson has nine home runs and 34 RBI.

MLB Trends:

 The Kansas City Royals are:

15-39 in their last 54 road games against a team with a winning home record

7-19 in their last 26 games against a left-handed starter

17-50 in their last 67 games overall

6-18 in their last 24 games against a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15

11-45 in their last 56 games against a team with a winning record

0-5 in the last five meetings

 The Tampa Bay Rays are:

23-8 in their last 31 home games

6-1 in Snell's last seven starts during game 2 of a series

5-1 in Snell's last six starts on astroturf

4-1 in Snell's last five home starts

 8-2 in Snell's last 10 Tuesday starts

6-2 in Snell's last eight starts

Blake Snell has been very dominant at Tropicana Field. He has gone 6-1 with an 0.97 ERA in nine starts. Snell has allowed just seven runs (six earned) in 55 2/3 innings. Five of those runs came on solo homers.

Glenn Sparkman has made just one career start and he'll likely be on a pitch count. The Rays can take advantage of a weak Royals bullpen that ranks 29th in the majors with a 5.20 ERA.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers MLB Betting Preview

MIlwaukee Brewers

Reds vs. Brewers MLB Betting Preview

Monday, August 20 at 8:10 PM ET

 Miller Park

 Dome

Odds: Milwaukee -211-moneyline favorites. The total is 9Over -117.

The Brewers look to put a disappointing road trip behind them and get back on track when they open a three-game series against the Reds.

Bailey losses fifth straight decision

Homer Bailey (1-10, 6.33 ERA, 1.63 WHIP) gave up five earned runs on 10 hits (one home run) last start. He also had two walks with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a 10-3 loss against the Indians last Monday.

Bailey has lost five straight decisions. That includes his last three starts and he's 1-4 with a 5.89 ERA and one complete game in seven road starts.

The Reds have scored 564 runs (15th in the majors). They are putting up 4.55 runs per game (14th), hitting .259 (4th) with 128 home runs (22nd). Cincinnati ranks 24th with a 4.67 ERA, 26th with a 1.41 WHIP and 25th with 946 strikeouts.

Their bullpen ranks 16th with a 4.12 ERA. Eugenio Suarez leads the Reds with 27 home runs and 91 RBI. Scooter Gennett has 18 home runs, 72 RBI and team-bests with a .314 batting average and 143 hits.

Anderson lasts just four innings against the Braves

Chase Anderson (7-7, 3.97 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) allowed four earned runs on five hits (one home run) and two walks with four strikeouts over four innings. He got a no-decision in an 8-7 loss against the Braves on August 12.

Anderson will pitch with a couple of extra days of rest. That should help him because he's clearly struggling. He's failed to get out of the fifth inning in four of his last seven starts.

The Brewers  have scored 550 runs (18th in the majors), putting up 4.37 runs per game (19th), hitting .248 (16th) with 158 home runs (9th). Milwaukee ranks 13th with a 3.90 ERA, 12th with a 1.27 WHIP and 11th with 1085 strikeouts. Their bullpen ranks 10th with a 3.79 ERA.

Jesus Aguilar leads the Brewers with 29 home runs and 89 RBI. Travis Shaw has 24 home runs and 69 RBI. Christian Yelich has 19 home runs, 61 RBI and team-bests with a .310 batting average and 135 hits.

MLB Trends:

The Cincinnati Reds are:

2-8 in their last 10 road games

2-10 in their last 12 games against a right-handed starter

3-14 in Bailey's last 17 starts when their opponent allows two runs or less in their previous game

1-6 in Bailey's last seven road starts

0-8 in Bailey's last eight starts during game 1 of a series

0-5 in Bailey's last five starts with six days of rest

0-4 in Bailey's last four Monday starts

3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Milwaukee

2-7 in the last nine meetings

The Milwaukee Brewers are:

8-3 in their last 11 home games against a right-handed starter

12-5 in their last 17 home games against a team with a losing record

4-0 in Anderson's last four starts with seven or more days of rest

4-1 in Anderson's last five home starts against a team with a losing record

There's not much value on the Brewers but fading Homer Bailey is the right play. Bailey is 0-5 with a 7.30 ERA and a 1.86 WHIP in his last seven starts, he's given up 10 earned runs in 8 2/3 innings over his last two starts and he's really struggled all season long. This is the perfect spot for Milwaukee's bats to wake up and get the team back on track.

 MLB Pick: Brewers -211

Big weekend Series - Astros vs. Athletics

Oakland Athletics

By: The Frisco Kid

Athletics Are not Going Away -- Astros in Sights

The Oakland Athletics are on a mission and that is to win the AL West. The way in which the A’s started this season was nothing special, but this team has battled back. They are going to be a big problem for the Astros.

Honestly, the Astros want nothing to do with this series. This could be the straw that breaks the camels back. What has happened to the Astros? Who really knows? This team is a mystery for sure.

The World Champions are still the World Champions. It would be a mistake to give up on them completely. One thing we know, is this is not the same Astros team that the entire world fell in love with less than a year ago. This team has fallen and fallen rather quickly.

How to Bet On Sports - Online Sportsbook Bonuses and Incentives

The A’s are proving that they are a good investment. Don't look any further if you are looking for a great team to bet on right now. These guys just might be the real deal. They are hitting well, they are pitching superb and they are playing great defense.

Bob Melvin has this team tuned up and ready for whatever adversary comes there way.

The 2018 MLB season is winding down and it is going to be exciting.  Whatever team feels the most motivated may have the best mojo down the stretch. Those types of teams are going to come out on top of their division.

The A’s certainly aren’t the only upstarts making things happen right now. Although they may be the most fun to watch.

There is still time to get a great baseball bonus and build a bankroll for football. If you have any desire to win money and if you love betting baseball, there are more than a few great teams still left to bet on.

The Dodgers must take advantage of a great opportunity this weekend is Seattle. The Mariners have been a team of mystery all season long and it looks like they are finally pooping out.

Just when they look unstoppable and sweep the Astros they take a big dive in Oakland. They are struggling to keep their heads above water.

The Dodgers had better step up their game is they want to win the NL West.

On the other side of the country, the Boston Red Sox look like the team to beat in all of baseball. What they are doing is record setting and they will be a force come playoff time.

The Yankees are out of this race. The weekend series with the Rays could be interesting. Do the Red Sox keep up the pace and try to set their own record for wins? What about the Major League record for most wins in a season? Anything is possible with this team.

You can bet (pun intended) they will challenge 116 wins in a season.

Sports Betting - Are Handicappers Worth the Money?

This year has been a great one in baseball and the division races are heating up. No matter who you root for one thing is very clear, uncertainty is abound! Well, beyond the Red Sox! The Red Sox are a much better team then the Yankees and they will easily win the division.

CFL Friday Night: Blue Bombers Host REDBLACKS

Blue Bombers Football

Blue Bombers Flying High Into Week 10

The Ottawa RedBlacks and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers open Week 10 of CFL action on Friday when they meet at Investors Group Field. Both teams may have the same records, but they are heading in different directions.

Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be seen on TSN, RDS and ESPN+.

Oddsmakers have Winnipeg as 6.5-point favorites. The total has settled at 54.5.

The Bombers had a slow start out of the gate with rookie quarterback Chris Streveler at the controls. They have surged to three straight victories against eastern conference opponents and sit tied for second in the West.

Ottawa has gotten the job done more often than not without looking very dominant. A 23-point win over the Riders back in Week 2 is set aside. The REDBLACKS have two unconvincing wins against Montreal. Add in a late-game collapse against the Argos in Week 8.

Their play has left the door open in the East Division.

The CFL schedule eases toward the season’s second half.  The division races are heating up. Games like Friday’s become ever more important. Winnipeg will see it as a winnable home game. The REDBLACKS will see this as a game they could pick up on their divisional rivals.

Blue Bombers are Formidable at Home

There is little doubt that Investors Group Field has been an unwelcoming place for eastern conference visitors. They gave Hamilton a 29-23 loss. Toronto a 40-14 beat-down.

The Bombers are 4-1 overall against the East this season.

Winnipeg was a 29-23 winner in its last matchup at home against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. They earned a push of the -6-point spread as favorites. The total score of 52 sent UNDER bettors to the payout window.

One of the major story-lines entering Friday’s game is the running back battle. Winnipeg’s Andrew Harris leads the league with 720 rush yards. Ottawa’s William Powell ranks second with 608.

The Bombers will make one change to the roster that downed the Ticats last week. Ryan Lankford enters in place of the Weston Dressler, who started the last six games.

REDBLACKS Offense Was on Tilt Last Week

Ottawa won its last outing, a 24-17 win against the Montreal Alouettes on August 11. The RedBlacks failed to cover in that game as a -14-point favorite. The 41 combined points took the game UNDER the total.

Ottawa’s own offense will be looking to build on a strong 587-yard performance in last week’s victory.

The REDBLACKS defense hopes to get a boost with the return of Anthony Cioffi at SAM linebacker. The young Rutgers product recorded seven tackles, two sacks and scored a touchdown in his last two outings prior to missing the Montreal game.

Mike Klassen will slide onto the interior part of the D-line. He is replacing George Uko who is on the one-game injured list. Klassen has seen his share of snaps in rotation duty this season. He has recording 16 tackles and a sack in eight games.

Ottawa has had increasingly strong production from rookie receiver R.J. Harris. The University of New Hampshire alum has had 50 or more receiving yards in each of the team’s last four games. He hauled in his first career touchdown last week against the Alouettes.

Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball

Pirates Look to Even Series Tonight

Friday, August 17 at 7:05 PM ET

PNC Park

Overcast 79°F

Wind: 9mph Blowing Out to L

Odds: Cubs -136-moneyline favorites. Total is at 8 -110.

The Chicago Cubs continue their four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cubs won last night's game 1-0 behind six scoreless innings from Jon Lester and a solo home run from Ian Happ.

Hamels continues to thrive with the Cubs

Cole Hamels (7-9, 4.22 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) gave up just one earned run on one hit and a walk with nine strikeouts over seven innings. He settled for a no-decision in Sunday's 4-3 win against the Nationals.

Hamels is 6-2 with a 2.58 ERA in 12 road starts and the change of scenery appears to be just what he needed to get his season on track.

The Cubs have scored 585 runs (7th in the majors), putting up 4.88 runs per game (6th), hitting .264 (2nd) with 125 home runs (22nd). Chicago ranks 12th with a 3.82 ERA, 19th with a 1.34 WHIP and 19th with 989 strikeouts.

Their bullpen ranks 4th with a 3.30 ERA. Javier Baez leads the Cubs with 25 home runs, 89 RBI and 129 hits.

Kyle Schwarber has 20 home runs and 48 RBI and Anthony Rizzo has 18 home runs, 78 RBI and a team-best .362 OBP.

Williams dominates the Giants

Trevor Williams (10-8, 3.66 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) threw seven scoreless innings against the Giants last Saturday. He surrendered five hits and a walk with two strikeouts in a 4-0 win.

Williams has four scoreless outings in his last five starts. He has posted an 0.62 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP in that span (29 innings) but also just a 1.56 strikeout-to-walk ratio (K/BB).

The Pirates have scored 550 runs (14th in the majors), putting up 4.51 runs per game (14th), hitting .255 (7th) with 127 home runs (21st). Pittsburgh ranks 18th with a 4.20 ERA, 22nd with a 1.35 WHIP and 21st with 974 strikeouts.

Their bullpen ranks 19th with a 4.21 ERA.

Gregory Polanco leads the Pirates with 19 home runs and 67 RBI.

Starling Marte has 17 home runs and 57 RBI and Corey Dickerson has team-bests with a .303 batting average and 118 hits.

Diamondbacks vs. Padres MLB Betting Preview

San Diego Padres Baseball

Diamondbacks vs. Padres Betting Preview

Thursday, August 16 at 10:10 PM ET

Petco Park

Clear 81°F

Wind: 8mph  blowing L to R

Odds: Arizona is -138-moneyline favorites. The total is 8 -110.

The Arizona Diamondbacks open a four-game series with the San Diego Padres, looking to extended their lead for first place in the National League West.

Buchholz pitches well in losing effort against the Reds

Clay Buchholz (5-2, 2.67 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts across seven innings in a 3-0 loss against the Reds last Friday. Buchholz is now 4-1 with a 3.15 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in his last seven starts.

The Diamondbacks have scored 542 runs (17th in the majors). They are also putting up 4.48 runs per game (16th), hitting .238 (27th) with 133 home runs (19th). Arizona ranks 4th with a 3.60 ERA, 7th with a 1.22 WHIP and 6th with 1067 strikeouts.

Their bullpen ranks 2nd with a 3.14 ERA. Paul Goldschmidt leads the Diamondbacks with 27 home runs, 65 RBI, a .389 OBP and 129 hits. David Peralta has 21 home runs, 61 RBI and a team-best .299 batting average.

Nix has a strong major league debut

Jacob Nix (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP) threw six scoreless innings in his major league debut against the Phillies last Friday. He surrendered just four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in a 2-0 win.

Nix will get more chances to showcase his skills over the final month and a half of the season. He looks to earn a full-time role with the team next season.

The Padres have scored 472 runs (27th in the majors) this season. They are putting up 3.84 runs per game (27th), hitting .236 (28th) with 112 home runs (25th).

San Diego ranks 21st with a 4.39 ERA, 21st with a 1.35 WHIP and 14th with 1028 strikeouts. Their bullpen ranks 7th with a 3.50 ERA.

Christian Villanueva leads the Padres with 20 home runs. Hunter Renfroe has 12 home runs and 40 RBI. Eric Hosmer has 11 home runs, 49 RBI and team-bests with a .320 OBP and 119 hits.

MLB Trends:

The Arizona Diamondbacks are:

5-1 in Buchholz's last six starts after scoring five runs or more in their previous game

4-1 in Buchholz's last five starts

4-0 in the last four meetings in San Diego

5-1 in the last six meetings

The San Diego Padres are:

7-20 in their last 27 games against a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15

6-20 in their last 26 home games

3-14 in their last 17 home games against a right-handed starter

2-10 in their last 12 home games against a team with a winning record

The Diamondbacks are by far the better team when it comes to hitting and pitching. The Padres are one of the worst-hitting teams in the majors. Nothing suggests that will change when they go up against Buchholz, who has a 2.18 ERA in seven road starts.

Nix pitched well in his first career start for the Padres but expecting him to replicate that effort might be too much.
