The Under is:

8-3 in Los Angeles' last 11 games

6-0 in Wood's last 6 starts overall

6-1 in Wood's last seven starts during game 1 of a series

4-1 in Wood's last five starts against a team with a losing record

4-1 in Wood's last five road starts

5-2 in Cincinnati's last seven during game 1 of a series

I'm looking at the Under. This is a high total for this game. Cody Reed has pitched well at home. Alex Wood has been solid lately PLUS he's 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA and an 0.80 WHIP in two career starts at Great American Ball Park.

NFL Week 1 - Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football

By: The Frisco Kid

NFL Week 1 - Monday Night Football Doubleheader

Monday Night Football is an NFL institution all on its own. A tradition was born in 2006. The NFL schedules two Week 1 games to enjoy on Monday Night. This season we have two very interesting ones.

The opener has the Detroit Lions hosting the New York Jets. The Oakland Raiders playing host to the Los Angeles Rams in game two. Both of these offer some great betting options and story-lines to open the season.

Jets @ Lions | Sept. 10, 7:10PM ET | Lions -6.5 Total: 44.5

At the time I am writing this, Jets Coach Todd Bowles has yet to name their starting quarterback. After shipping Teddy Bridgewater off to the Big Easy, the writing is on the wall. The latest news clip states Bowles saying, Sam Darnold “rarely makes the same mistake twice.”

AKA, the rookie will be the New York Jets starting QB from day one of his NFL career.

How Much Does Preseason Really Mean

I have learned not to take much from the preseason. If the preseason is any indication, the Jets offense is going to be better than most think it was going to be. This has to be good news for Jets fans, being that their defense is their strong point.

Betting Football - What’s Easiest, NFL or NCAA

I have heard very little about the Lions leading up to Week 1. That is probably a good thing in the big picture. Finishing 9-7 last season, one spot out of a playoff berth, expectations are high in Motor City this season.

Two guys on the Lions offense to watch out for are rookie RB Kerryon Johnson and 2nd year wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Although Matthew Stafford has the heart of a lion, he just hasn’t had the talent around him to take this team to the next level.

1Vice Offers Award Winning Sports Betting Contests

Three is certainly the magic number when looking at the record when these two meet. They have met a total of only 6 times. The straight up record is 3 and 3. The against the spread record is 3-3 and the total is 3-3.

Sunday Night Football: Packers Host the Bears

Bears and Packers

The NFL Oldest Rivalry Kicks off 2018 -- Bears Vs. Packers

Lambeau Field has a Week 1 contest on tap for Sunday as the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers play their season openers. The NFL kicks off its 90th season this weekend. What better way to go after than with the NFL's oldest rivalry?

Oddsmakers opened the Packers as -8-point favorites versus the Bears, while the game's total opened at 47.5.

Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers became the highest-paid player in NFL history a couple of weeks ago. The Chicago Bears and new meal ticket Khalil Mack will be on the prowl.

Rodgers signed a four-year, $134 million contract extension. His true value was evident last season when he missed nine games due to a broken collarbone. The Packers spiraled to a 7-9 record.

Ready to make Rodgers earn every dime is Mack. He was acquired by Chicago in a blockbuster trade with Oakland and rewarded with the richest contract given to a defensive player. It is a whopping six-year, $141 million extension.

The Bears have finished last in the NFC North four years running. They will also will feature a different look on the other side of the ball as they begin a new era under first-year head coach Matt Nagy.

Rodgers Impact Will be Evident From the Start

The Packers were 7-9 last season and finished 3rd in the NFC North. Rodgers' impact on Green Bay's offense cannot be overstated. The two-time NFL MVP started all 16 games from 2014-16. He amassed 109 touchdown passes against only 20 interceptions.

Longtime favorite target Jordie Nelson was let go in the offseason. Rodgers still has plenty of options with returning wideouts Davante Adams and Randall Cobb. They  had140 combined catches in 2017.

The arrival of tight end Jimmy Graham should help as well. He had 10 TD receptions with Seattle last season. Jamaal Williams rushed for a team-high 556 yards last season. He will share the load with Ty Montgomery.

This is while Aaron Jones serves a two-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The Packers were 26th in points allowed (24.0) and 22nd in total defense. These numbers led to the dismissal of defensive coordinator Dom Capers. The Packers hired Mike Pettine to replace him.

Rodgers had 14 touchdown passes and one interception in his last four home starts versus Chicago.

The Bears Looking to Get Back to Relevancy

The Bears were 5-11 last season and finished 4th in the NFC North. Chicago traded a pair of first-round draft picks in a package to bring in Mack. He was the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Mack has registered double-digit sacks in each of the past three seasons.

The Bears also used a first-round draft pick (No. 8 overall) to select linebacker Roquan Smith out of Georgia. The pick will further bolster a defense that ranked No. 7 against the pass with an average of 211.0 yards in 2017.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky threw for only 2,193 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie last season. He has plenty of new weapons this year. They brought in wide receivers Allen Robinson from Jacksonville and Taylor Gabriel from Atlanta.

Tight end Trey Burton from Philadelphia was added as well. Jordan Howard has rushed for at least 1,100 yards in each of his first two seasons. Tarik Cohen provides a dynamic pass-catching threat in the backfield.

Mack, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, has 36.5 sacks over the last three seasons.

PREDICTION: Packers 26, Bears 20

Chargers Host Chiefs in NFL Week 1 Action

LA Chargers

Chargers Look to Unseat Chiefs Atop AFC West

The NFL Season kicks off on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers meet at StubHub Center. This is a bitter rivalry and and good matchup for fans, and bettors, as the NFL kicks off its 99th season.

Oddsmakers have the Chargers as -3-point favorites versus the Chiefs, while the game's total opened at 47.5.

The game kickoff at 4:05 pm EST and CBS will have the coverage.

The Chiefs begin their quest for a third consecutive AFC West title. They will also try for their ninth consecutive win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Last season pushed Kansas City until the final week and this year should be no different.

Chargers Looking to Sit Atop the Division

The Chargers were 9-7 in 2017. That was good for 2ND in the AFC West.

Los Angeles still has Philip Rivers at the helm of an offense that led the league in passing a year ago. They posted two of its five lowest-yardage outputs in its two meetings with the Chiefs.

After throwing a career-high 21 interceptions in 2016, Rivers was picked only 10 times last season. He passed for 4,515 yards and 28 touchdowns. His favorite target returns in Keenan Allen. He hauled in 102 passes for 1,393 yards and six touchdowns last year.

Running back Melvin Gordon is back as well. He is coming off his first 1,000-yard season.

The defense ranked third in the league in points allowed last season. It is led by two dynamic pass rushers in Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. They combined for 23 sacks in 2017.

Chiefs are Still King of the AFC West Until Beaten

One constant during Kansas City's dominance over the Chargers has been under center. Alex Smith had been at the helm, but not anymore. Smith was traded to Washington in the offseason. Second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes takes the reins for the 2018 season.

Mahomes made his first start in Week 17 last year. He passed for 284 yards in what ultimately was a meaningless game. The stakes will be higher this time against a bitter division rival.

Mahomes takes over an offense that includes Kareem Hunt. He was the NFL's leading rusher last season with 1,327 yards. He also has a reliable target in Travis Kelce. He led all tight ends with 83 receptions for 1,038 yards and eight touchdowns in 2017.

A couple of dangerous receivers in speedster Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins are at his disposal as well.

The defense was one of the most porous in the league last year. They did force 26 turnovers as the Chiefs ranked second in the league with a plus-15 margin.

LB Justin Houston has registered six sacks in his last five games against San Diego.

PREDICTION: Chargers 27, Chiefs 23

NFL Week 1 Preview & Pick- San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings

The San Francisco 49ers open the 2018 NFL regular season this Sunday on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota is a 6 point favorite. Game time from US Bank Stadium is set for 1 p.m. on FOX.

VietBet has set the total for this NFC clash at 46 points.

VietBet 468x60 Football Banner

49ers Have Huge Hopes for 2018 Season

The 49ers had just one straight-up victory to their credit after the first 11 games of the 2017 season. They rallied with five-straight wins to finish 6-10. They went 4-1 against the spread during that season-ending winning streak. The total went OVER the VietBet closing line in their last three games.

San Francisco won its first preseason game this year.  Then fell short in the next three. They were 0-3-1 ATS in the four exhibition games.

Now things will be counting for real in the standings. The expectation level is rather high for the team’s continued success. Leading the way on offense is quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

He will have Marquise Goodwin as one of his top targets in the passing game. Carlos Hyde was the 49ers’ leading rusher from a year ago. He is now playing for Cleveland. San Francisco used the ninth overall pick in the draft to add tackle Mike McGlinchey to help bolster its front five.

Vikings Looking for Same Success, but Different QB

Minnesota is coming off a SU 13-3 record and a trip to the NFC title game in 2017. That game did not go as planned. They were a three-point road favorite with VietBet, and the season ended with a 38-7 loss.

The Vikings were 11-5 ATS overall. The total stayed UNDER in five of their last seven regular season games. They went 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS this preseason.

Quarterback will also be the spotlight position this season for Minnesota. Kirk Cousins taking over the starting role. He came over from Washington as a free agent. He is tasked to run a Vikings’ offense that played rather well with Case Keenum under center.

Dalvin Cook is ready to resume his spot as the team’s top rusher. He missed a substantial amount of time last season due to injury.

This should be a great matchup between a pair of NFL foes that each have high expectations this season. While I am not sure if San Francisco can pull off the SU upset this Sunday, I do like the 49ers’ chances to cover the 6-points.

Texas A&M Hosts 2nd Ranked Clemson

Texas A&M Aggies

Jimbo Fisher Era Starts at Texas A&M

The Clemson Tigers (2) and the Texas A&M Aggies will square off on Saturday night at Kyle Field. College Station, TX will be rocking by the time the 7 pm EST kickoff rolls around. ESPN will have the coverage.

Oddsmakers opened the Tigers as -13.5-point favorites versus the Aggies, while the game's total opened at 56.5. The line is now Clemson -12 and the total is down to 51.5.

Texas A&M has won 29 consecutive home games over non-conference opponents. BUT they have rarely has welcomed an opponent the caliber of Clemson. The Tigers will be the highest-ranked non-conference opponent in the history of Kyle Field when it visits the Aggies on Saturday.

The Aggies are trying to get to a new level under new coach Jimbo Fisher. His Aggies rolled up more than 700 total yards in a 59-7 win over Northwestern State in his debut.

Clemson also cruised in its opener, routing Furman 48-7 behind a balanced offense and dominant defense. The Tigers know they can't take being a huge favorite for granted.

Clemson is Poised with Talent All Over the Field

The Tigers will continue splitting time at quarterback between veteran Kelly Bryant and freshman Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence led the team to points on all five of his drives last week. Both provide different threats.

Lawrence possesses a big-time arm while Bryant rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown on five carries in the season opener.

Clemson's defense allowed only 163 total yards. They also racked up 12 tackles for loss and three sacks against Furman. They will face a much stronger threat in the Aggies, who have a massive offensive line.

Clemson has won its last three true road contests against SEC opponents. Defeating South Carolina in both 2015 and 2017 and Auburn in 2016.

Texas A&M Will Try to Establish the Run

The Aggies also used two quarterbacks in their opener. Nick Starkel relieved starter Kellen Mond after things got out of hand. Both were effective.

Trayveon Williams battled nagging injuries during a disappointing sophomore season. He  got off to a great start to 2018 and rushed for 240 yards. That is the second-most in program history. He also chipped in three touchdowns last week.

The Aggies rolled up 503 yards on the ground. Texas A&M's defense also will face its first true test after giving up 251 total yards in the season opener.

The Aggies have lost five straight games against Top-25 opponents. That dates to an overtime win over No. 9 Tennessee in 2016.

Texas A&M has scored at least 14 points in 28 consecutive games. That is the longest active streak in the SEC. That could come to an end this evening.  Clemson has the best defensive front in college football.

SMU Hosts TCU (16) in Friday College Football Action

TCU College Football

Week Two of the College Football season is upon us. Many teams got the cupcakes out of the way and starting to play some competition.

The 16th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs and the SMU Mustangs will meet on Friday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. ESPN2 will have the coverage at starting at 8 pm EST.

Oddsmakers opened the Horned Frogs as -19-point favorites versus the Mustangs, while the game's total opened at 64. The line now is TCU -23.5 and the total is down to 59.

TCU did exactly what it was supposed to do in Week 1. They thrashed an FCS opponent. The team is hopeful it is in preparing it for a schedule that is about to get considerably tougher. TCU faces Ohio State in Week 3 before diving into the tough Big 12 slate.

The Mustangs are going to need to step up on defense against TCU. They surrendered 529 total yards in a 46-23 loss at North Texas on Saturday.

SMU is under the guidance of new coach Sonny Dykes. They trailed 36-0 in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs have allowed at least 31 points in seven consecutive games going back to last season.

TCU Hopes to Avoid Letdown with Ohio State Next Up

TCU fans, and coaches, got a long look at the duel-threat abilities of sophomore quarterback Shawn Robinson. The 55-7 victory over Southern last week showed a lot of promise.

Robinson's three passing TDs and two rushing scores gave him a leg up on fellow sophomore Michael Collins. The two are still in an open quarterback competition. Collins impressed with his arm strength in Week 1. He added a passing score and 71 yards in five attempts.

Horned Frogs wide receiver Jalen Reagor caught one of Robinson's TD passes.

Freshman WR Derius Davis was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after catching a TD pass and returning a punt for a score in the opener.

SMU Looks to Improve Under New Leadership

Dykes' offense managed only 24 yards in the first half against North Texas. The Mustangs finished with four rushing yards in the contest. Dykes took over last December. He coached the 51-10 Frisco Bowl loss to Louisiana Tech.

Dykes served as an offensive analyst under Gary Patterson at TCU last season. This was after being fired as the coach of California. He is known for his offensive acumen.

SMU's most explosive offensive player in Week 1 was running back Braeden West. He did his best work as a receiver with three catches for 86 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for a score.

TCU took 10 of the last 11 meetings in the series, including a 56-36 victory last season.

PREDICTION: TCU 50, SMU 17

College Football Saturday - Your One Best Bet

College Football

By: The Frisco Kid

2018 College Football Season is in Full Swing

The Arkansas State Red Wolves march into Tuscaloosa on Saturday in College Football action. They hope to pull off what would be the biggest upset for the entire 2018 football season. Maybe one of the biggest upsets in college football history.

This task is not going to be easy. If they think their victory over SE Missouri State meant anything, they had better reevaluate their thinking errors very quickly!

Arkansas State Red Wolves vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Date: Saturday, September 8

Game Time: 3:30 ET

Venue: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL

Network: ESPN2

Odds: Alabama -36. The Total is 66.5.

The win over SE Missouri State was a big win. Big numbers were put up from quarterback Justice Hansen who poured in a 423 yard, six, count them, six-touchdown performance. That’s a big deal and confidence going into any game certainly goes a very long ways.

NCAA and NFL Football - Why use More than a few Handicappers

Never take your eye off the ball! The opponent was SE Missouri State! Having said that, the Red Wolves put up a huge offensive performance. They have highly talented receivers. They create an ability to spread the wealth for Hansen.

With an overall offensive performance that put together 685 total yards, these guys have confidence in themselves. Remember, they nearly pulled off the upset over Nebraska last season. BUT, Nebraska is not the current NCAA Division 1 College Football Champion.

They do not have Nick Saban as head coach and they are not the Crimson Tide!

Betting Football - What’s Easiest, NFL or College Football

Alabama is a different animal and don’t forget it. These guys are one of the college football powerhouse of the ages. Even of a generation. What Nick Saban has done over the course of 11 years is nothing less than a football miracle.

The man has lost 20 games! Alabama wins, and they win, and they keep on winning. They are a championship caliber team again this year. They showed who they are against Louisville in week one. The game was 51-14 beat-down. This is Louisville, yes, that Louisville!

The proud program that led the nation in offense just two short seasons ago. Louisville may not be the team of the recent past, but they are still Louisville. They always have talent to burn.

Alabama worked those guys. This is what the Crimson Tide do to teams. They embarrass their opponent and when Saban has the opportunity, he will run the score up.

Football Betting – NFL Week 1 Games to Watch

The Red Wolves are nothing special when it comes to their defensive front. Their linebacker corps leaves a bit to be desired. This kind of language spells disaster for any Alabama opponent.

With Tagovailoa and Hurts heading up the Alabama offense, this Red Wolves defense will be tested early. One quarterback that can fire it up like Dan Marino, and another that can mix it up like Joe Montana!

Hurts has some experience now and he can move the offense. He definitely will against a bad defense. But that’s not all! Alabama’s running game should have a field day with State’s run defense. It will get ugly!

Look for a minimum, easy 200 yards on the ground. Most likely, well north of the 300 mark.

Football Picks, Sports Forums, Free Picks, Service Plays, Consensus Sites and More

Alabama’s defense is downright nasty. There are more than a few teams in the NFL that would struggle playing against it! Look for a huge win. A big blowout and look for the cover, easily.

This game could be 35-3 at halftime! Will they keep their foot on the gas the entire game? You can count on it from the defense.
