MLB Monday: Brewers vs Phillies

Phillies Baseball

Run Stingy Phillies Take on Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies meet on Monday when at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies have been stingy in their victories lately. They have only allowed a total of three runs in their last five wins. They look to continue recording wins and stymieing opponents during their seven-game homestand.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, ESPN, FS Wisconsin (Milwaukee), NBCS Philadelphia; LINE: Dodgers -150;O/U: 8 Over -115.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Freddy Peralta (2-1, 6.75 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Aaron Nola (3-0, 4.57)

Philadelphia has won five of its last seven games. That includes the last two of its three-game series in Kansas City by a combined 13-1 score. J.T. Realmuto and Odubel Herrera each stroked two RBI's during a six-run fifth inning. Cole Irvin allowed one run and five hits. He also had five strikeouts over seven innings in his major-league debut. The Phillies cam away with a 6-1 victory yesterday. Milwaukee began its 10-game road trip with its seventh consecutive win. They then lost the final two games of its three-game series in Chicago. The BrewCrew had a 4-1 loss against the Cubs on Sunday. Jesus Aguilar drove in the Brewers' lone run and had his second two-hit performance of the year. He extended his hitting streak to six games and raise his batting average to .198.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

Milwaukee's Peralta will be making his sixth start of the season. it will be his first since May 2, when he was battered for nine runs, on eight hits and three walks over four innings. He gave up 6 earned runs in the loss to Colorado. The youngster performed much better in relief on Tuesday. He gave up three hits with two walks. He also had five strikeouts over five scoreless innings in the victory over Washington. Peralta, who is 1-0 despite yielding seven runs over 11 1/3 innings in two road starts this year, has never faced Philadelphia. Ryan Braun (hamstring) has been kept out of the starting lineup but appeared as a pinch-hitter in each of the team's last two games.

The Phillies, Nola looks to remain unbeaten through nine starts this season. He had his third consecutive strong outing Tuesday in St. Louis. The budding superstar recorded the victory allowing one run and three hits over six innings. That was the 3rd straight start he has only given up a run. Nola has yet to lose to Milwaukee. He has gone 3-0 with a 2.37 ERA in five career starts.

The Dart Throw: Phillies 5, Brewers 3

NBA Bookie News: Durant Out for the Rest of Warriors-Rockets Series

Kevin Durant plays a vital role in the Warriors playoff run. However, it looks like Durant out for the rest of the Warriors series with the Rockets. In fact, the MRI scan showed a strained right calf. Coach Steve Kerr told his players that they need to pick up the slack to win over the Rockets in Game 6, which will end the series.

Kerr described Durant as the best player in the NBA playoffs. Now Durant out, other players will have the opportunity to show what they are capable of. Before his injury, Durant averaged 34.2 points in the playoffs.

Despite losing Durant in the third quarter of Game 5, the Warriors won the game 104-99 to get a 3-2 advantage over the Rockets. They only need one more game to move on to the next round. There were fears that Durant suffered from a more serious injury that will make Durant out for the rest of the playoffs. However, this remained speculations among pay per head operators.

Durant Out in Games 6 and 7

NBA Bookie News: Durant Out for the Rest of Warriors-Rockets Series

Durant will not travel with the team to Houston for game six. Instead, he will stay in the Bay Area to treat his injury. In fact, team doctors will reevaluate his injury next week. Kerr told bookie pay per head services providers that Durant had calf strain before and bounced back from it.

If the Warriors move to the next round, it is likely Durant can play if the initial diagnosis of the injury remained true. In the team’s back-to-back NBA title run, he earned the Finals MVP award.

Without Durant, the team will depend on Andre Iguodala and other reserves to contain the Rockets offense. If the Warriors win Game 5, they remain a good value to win the finals.

NHL Eastern Conference Finals Kick off

2019 NHL Playoffs

Hurricanes Playing Great Hockey as Eastern Conference Finals Start

The Eastern Conference Finals start tonight when the Boston Bruins host the Carolina Hurricanes in a best-of-seven series. It’s the first time the Boston Bruins have made the Conference Finals since 2013. That is the last year they won the Stanley Cup as well. Carolina hasn’t made the Conference Finals since 2009 when they were swept by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Needless to say, it’s been a long time coming for these two fan bases to experience hockey this late in the playoffs. They should be ready for a old-time rivalry renewed.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network, CBC, Sportsnet, TVAS LINE: Bruins -148; O/U: 5.5 Under -141.

After sweeping the New York Islanders in the semifinals, the Hurricanes have been waiting to learn the outcome of the Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets series. As a result, the Islanders haven’t played a game since May 3rd. They’ll be well rested when they step on the ice. Boston only wrapped up their series on Monday night and will have just two days’ rest prior to Game 1. Goaltender Tukka Rask was phenomenal against the Jackets. He posted a .948 save percentage in the series, including a shutout in Game 6.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

The Carolina Hurricanes once had a heated rivalry with the Boston Bruins. It goes way back to the days when the franchise was the Hartford Whalers. The red-hot Hurricanes, and their fans, will have more than ancient memories on their minds tonight. This also marks the first playoff matchup between the teams since Carolina's last trip to the postseason in 2009.

The Hurricanes won 21 of their final 30 games to earn the top wild card in the East. They may be underdogs to the second-seeded Bruins but they have rattled off six consecutive wins. They swept the New York Islanders after stunning defending Stanley Cup champion Washington in seven games. Boston finished tied for the second-highest point total entering the playoffs. They still had to come from behind in both series to wins. They took the final three games to oust Columbus in the second round after outlasting Toronto in seven games.

It may not be a controversy but Carolina has a decision to make in goal after Petr Mrazek was injured in Game 2 against the Islanders. He was replaced by backup Curtis McElhinney, who posted three wins with a 1.56 goals-against average and .947 save percentage. Mrazek said the injury was a non-issue after practicing fully on Monday and Tuesday. Coach Rod Brind'Amour noted that his main concern is to "make sure both guys are 100 percent. That obviously trumps everything." Defenseman Jaccob Slavin has 11 assists to lead Carolina in scoring. Teuvo Teravainen, Jordan Staal, Sebastian Aho and Warren Foegele have nine points each in the playoffs. Aho torched Boston for four goals and seven points in the three regular-season meetings.

Boston features one of the more imposing top lines in the game. David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, have combined for 16 goals and 32 points in the postseason. The trio collected 10 points in winning two of three matchups against Carolina this season. The Bruins' fortunes will ride on Tuukka Rask, who recorded a .948 save percentage and 1.71 GAA versus Columbus. He capped the series with a 39-save shutout. D Charlie McAvoy will miss Game 1 while serving a one-game suspension for an illegal hit to the head.

Are the Warriors Finally a Good Value to Win Finals?

Will the Value Be there For Wagering on the Warriors?

All season long, there has been some kind of feeling of inevitability to the
Golden State Warriors winning the NBA Finals. This was caused by all of the
talent on their roster combined with the fact that they've done it before. But
belief in the Warriors might be starting to slip, which could signal to bettors
that it is actually a decent idea to back Golden State for the first time all
season.

The biggest reason for this is the fact that the Warriors are finally
entering odds where there might be some value in backing them. Sports betting
is all about finding beneficial odds wherever possible, even if it comes in the
form of a favorite that is slightly undervalued. In this case, the Warriors are
entering that territory, as their title odds have begun to fall from the
expensive odds they had earlier in the year.

In fact, odds for
NBA betting on bet365
have the Warriors at under -200 odds to win the
championship this year, something that hadn't happened in the regular season
due to just how good they looked. They aren't breezing through all of their
playoff games, hence the sudden shift, but there might not be enough cause for
concern to justify the line movements that bettors may be able to take advantage
of.

Golden State lost once in the first round to the Los Angeles Clippers, a
team that greatly overachieved last season. And the loss that they did suffer
was something of an aberration, as the Clippers came back from 31 points down
in the second half to secure one of the most improbable comebacks in the
history of the NBA Playoffs. From there, the Warriors won four straight, and
haven't looked particularly labored since. Even Kevin Durant, who is being
linked to other teams this offseason, is having
fun in the team's latest march toward Finals contention
.

None of this is to say that the Warriors are guaranteed a championship, of
course. There are plenty of viable contenders in the league this year,
especially in a wide-open Eastern Conference. Toronto is led by a former Finals
MVP in Kawhi Leonard, who is just the type of player to give Durant and the
Warriors fits due to his defensive prowess. And the Milwaukee Bucks are high on
the list of teams to give the Warriors trouble if they met in the Finals, due
to a deep
bench that has helped them immensely
. But those teams lack one thing that
the Warriors possess, which is a proven ability to win games in the late rounds
of the playoffs.

MLB Wednesday: Braves vs Dodgers

Dodgers are Red-Hot as they Face Braves

The Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers will both be gunning for a victory on Wednesday when they meet at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers are vying for their 10th straight home victory as they go for a three-game sweep of the Braves. Los Angeles increased its National League-leading run total to 205 with Tuesday's 9-0 win. That gives them six straight series victories over Atlanta. It does include a 3-1 triumph in the 2018 NL Division Series.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, FS Southeast (Atlanta), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles); LINE: Dodgers -200; O/U: 8 Under -115.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (0-1, 5.06 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (1-0, 2.77)

Clayton Kershaw will try to remain undefeated versus the Braves after pitching a gem in the NLDS last fall. He opposes Mike Foltynewicz, who is slow to regain the form that produced a 2.85 ERA last season. Folty has battled early season elbow problems. The Dodgers hope history repeats itself as Hyun-Jin Ryu, who preceded Kershaw with a stellar performance in the NLDS, threw a four-hitter on Tuesday. Justin Turner recorded career highs with three home runs and six RBI's. He had his ninth career four-hit effort and is 17-for-41 in his last 10 contests. Cody Bellinger, whose 14 home runs are second in baseball to Christian Yelich's 15, saw his average fall to .403 after going 2-for-4 on Tuesday. It was his seventh straight game without a homer.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

For the Braves, Foltynewicz has allowed 10 runs over his two starts this season. Six of those runs were earned over 10 2/3 innings. HE has given up 14 hits with eight strikeouts over the two starts this season. which was delayed nearly a month because of a bone spur in his right elbow. Last outing was an 11-2 loss to San Diego on Thursday during which he struggled with his slider. Kershaw is 1-for-1 with a walk and two RBI's versus Foltynewicz. He faced Los Angeles twice in the NLDS, losing Game 1 after allowing four runs and three hits (two homers) in two innings. Atlanta is batting .163 in 129 at-bats with runners in scoring position in its last 15 contests after going 0-for-2 on Tuesday.

The Dodgers Kershaw wasn't sharp but didn't factor in the decision in the Dodgers' 4-3 victory at San Diego on Friday. He allowed three runs and six hits. He gave up home runs to Manny Machado and Ian Kinsler He also ended up with six strikeouts in six innings. Freddie Freeman is 4-for-17 with a solo home run, eight strikeouts and three walks against Kershaw. Kershaw allowed two hits in eight frames of the Dodgers' 3-0 victory over Atlanta in Game 2 and is 6-0 with a 1.20 ERA in 13 starts, playoffs included, versus the Braves. Bellinger is hitting .438 with nine home runs and 22 RBIs in 17 home games this season.

NBA Playoffs: Celtics vs Bucks, Game 5

Bucks Playing Well Headed in Game Five

The Milwaukee Bucks looked vulnerable during their second-round Game 1 loss to the Boston Celtics. But after three decisive wins, the Bucks have taken control of their Eastern Conference semifinal. Game 5 will be back at Fiserv Forum this Wednesday. With the Bucks on the verge of a berth in the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2001you don't expect a let down on Wednesday night. The Bucks haven't lost three straight games all season, which only makes Boston's comeback task tougher.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT LINE: Bucks -8.5; O/U: 220.5.

The Celtics won the series opener before losing the next three games. Point guard Kyrie Irving is a porous 19-of-62 shooting during the trio of setbacks. Bucks MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo is clearly the best player on the floor. He had 39 points and 16 rebounds in Game 4 and is averaging 30.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the series.

This, That, and a Dart Throw

For the Celtics, another loss could be the final game in a Boston uniform for Irving. He is set to become a free agent after the season and isn't displaying any sign that he would welcome a return. Celtics fans better hope he regains his shooting stroke in Game 5. Everyone knows there is no margin for error with few outsiders seeing them as candidates to win three straight games. PG Marcus Smart, who has been out with an oblique injury, made his first postseason appearance in Game 4. He had three points on 1-of-7 shooting in 15 minutes. PF Marcus Morris had 18 points and 14 rebounds in Game 4. He is averaging 17 points and 9.7 rebounds over the past three games.

The Bucks backup guards George Hill and Pat Connaughton have stepped up with strong efforts in this series. Milwaukee continues to play without former Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon, who is out with a foot injury. Hill is averaging 18 points over the past two games and 13.8 for the series. Connaughton is averaging 8.3 points and 8.3 rebounds and has two double-digit rebounding outings. Antetokounmpo has eight career 30-point postseason games. That number ties franchise legend Marques Johnson for second most in team history.

NHL Playoffs: Bruins vs Blue Jackets

2019 NHL Playoffs

Matt Duchene has Been Key for Blue Jackets

Frustration is building for the Boston Bruins as they head into Game 4 of their Eastern Conference NHL Playoffs matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets have a chance to deliver a punishing blow on Thursday night.

The trades by Columbus Blue Jackets’ General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen are paying tremendous dividends in the playoffs. In Round 2, Matt Duchene has become the Jackets’ top clutch scorer. He posted the game winning goal in both Games 2 and 3. Brad Marchand threw a sucker punch to the back of the head of a Columbus Blue Jackets defender late in Game 3. While Marchand avoided punishment by the league, things could definitely erupt tonight.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network, CBC, TVAS, Sportsnet LINE: Blue Jackets -123; O/U: 5 Under -123.

In addition to Duchene, the Blue Jackets are thriving off of the play of their backbone goaltender, Sergei Bobrovsky. The Russian netminder has put Columbus on his back at times during these playoffs. He has done this particularly against Boston. Bobrovsky has been stellar. He’s let in just five goals in three games and is now up to a .937 save percentage in the postseason.

For Boston, they’re still searching for production from their top players. Normally the top line of Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron leads the B’s offense. They’ve tallied just one point combined in the first three games of the second round series. The Bruins have the highest point total of any team left in the playoffs. They erased three separate deficits in their first-round series win over Toronto. The firepower is there, it just has been shackled.

This, That, and the Dart Throw

Bergeron, Marchand and David Pastrnak combined for 106 goals during the regular season for the Bruins. The trio was reunited on the No. 1 line at Wednesday's practice. Don't be surprised with another lineup change as coach Bruce Cassidy inserted David Backes on the second unit. Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci are to provide a "net presence" for the team.
Marchand leads the team with nine points in the playoffs, but he has been held off the scoresheet in four straight games

While center Matt Duchene is the Blue Jackets' prize acquisition at the trade deadline, his superlative play has been overshadowed by the exploits Sergei Bobrovsky in net. The two-time Vezina Trophy winner improved to 6-1 with a 1.88 goals-against average and .937 save percentage in the postseason by turning aside 36 of 37 shots Tuesday. The Blue Jackets are 3-for-7 on the power play in the past two games. Columbus has won eight of its last nine at home, but the lone blemish was a 6-2 loss to Boston on April 2.

NBA Playoffs: Raptors vs 76ers

Eastern Conference Playoffs

Teams are Tied One Game a Piece

Thursday night the Toronto Raptors and the Philadelphia 76ers meet at Wells Fargo Center. They will meet in game three of their best-of-seven series. The 76ers split their two games in Toronto. They now possess home-court advantage in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Philadelphia had lost 14 straight games in Toronto before the victory in Game two. That game could change the entire complexity of the series.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN, Sportsnet One (Toronto) LINE: Raptors -1.5; O/U: 219.

Jimmy Butler didn't care about his short history with him leading the 76ers. He was the key cog in the 94-89 victory by pounding out 30 points and 10 rebounds. Toronto star Kawhi Leonard has put together back-to-back big outings and is averaging 40 points and nine rebounds a game. Leonard was 13-of-24 shooting in Game 2, while the rest of the Raptors were 20-of-66 from the field. Danny Green was only 1-of-8 and Marc Gasol was 1-of-6.

This, That, and Dart Throw

Toronto's bench combined for just five points on 2-of-11 shooting in Game Two. Power forward Serge Ibaka had just two points in Game 2. He averaged 15 points while starting 51 of 74 games played in the regular season. He is averaging just 4.5 points on 4-of-14 shooting in the series. The Raptors have allowed fewer than 100 points in six straight playoff games. PF Pascal Siakam is averaging 25 points in the series but was 9-of-25 shooting in Game 2.

Philadelphia set the tone for its Game 2 victory by holding Toronto to 17 first-quarter points. The team maintained the defensive intensity for most of the contest. Center Joel Embiid has been battling knee issues but it was a stomach illness that nearly caused him to miss Game 2. He contributed 12 points in 32 minutes. F Tobias Harris is averaging just 11.5 points in the series but has collected 15 and 11 rebounds in the two contests.

MLB Thursday: Cardinals vs Nationals

Nationals Baseball

Cardinals Look to Sweep Nationals

The St. Louis Cardinals will take on the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals seem to be enjoying nothing but sunny skies with 5 wins in in a row and 10 of their last 11 games. They have ridden this streak to claim the best record in MLB. The Cardinals look to complete a four-game against the reeling Nationals.

TV: 4:05 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FS Midwest (St. Louis), MASN (Washington); LINE: Nationals -155; O/U: 9 Under -115.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals RH Dakota Hudson (2-1, 5.63 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (2-1, 3.82)

Jose Martinez raised his batting average to .375 after producing his fourth consecutive multi-hit performance in St. Louis' 5-1 win on Wednesday. Martinez had a two-run single in the first inning. He also scored for the third straight game when he capped the scoring in the eighth. Runs have been few and far between for injury-riddled Washington has mustered just six runs in the series.

This, That, and a Dart Throw:

The Nationals' Strasburg has spun a pair of gems in his last two outings. He answered a two-hit, 11-strikeout performance in a 5-0 romp of Miami on April 21st. He then had a two-run effort over seven innings six days later in a no-decision against hometown San Diego. The 30-year-old crybaby fashions a 2-2 record with a 2.56 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in six career appearances against St. Louis. He hasn't faced the club since 2016. Marcell Ozuna is 13-for-38 with two homers versus Strasburg. Jedd Gyorko is 6-for-14 with a homer. He has kept Yadier Molina (2-for-9) in check.

St. Louis's Hudson has back-to-back wins in his last two starts. He overcame three solo homers to work five innings in a 6-4 victory versus the New York Mets on April 21st. He then permitted three runs in a season-high 5 2/3 innings in a 6-3 win against Cincinnati. Hudson kept the ball in the park versus the Reds after being taken deep eight times in his previous five starts. He made four relief appearances against Washington in his rookie season of 2018. He gave up two runs on three hits in 2 1/3 total innings.

The Dart Throw: Cardinals 5, Nationals 1.
