The drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will next take to the track on April 9 under the lights at Texas Motor Speedway in the Samsung Mobile 500.
Kevin Harvick visited Victory Lane over the weekend in the Goody's Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway, taking the checkered flag for the second consecutive Cup event. Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, Juan Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, David Ragan, Clint Bowyer, and Mark Martin rounded out the Top 10 at Martinsville. Jimmie Johnson finished just behind that group in 11th place, while Denny Hamlin ended up in 12th place. Kyle Busch took over the lead in the driver standings with his third-place finish in the Goody's Fast Relief 500, with Carl Edwards five points back of top spot in second place. Johnson, Kurt Busch, Harvick, Ryan Newman, Montoya, Earnhardt Jr., Kenseth, Martin, Tony Stewart, and Gordon round out the current Top 12. Hamlin won both races at Texas Motor Speedway last season, while Kurt Busch and Gordon took the checkered flags there in 2009, and Edwards swept the events on the track in 2008. Edwards leads all active drivers with three career Cup wins at Texas, while Jeff Burton has two, and Johnson, Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Greg Biffle, Newman, Kenseth, Earnhardt Jr., and Martin have one each. After racing at Texas the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Talladega Superspeedway for the Aaron's 499 on April 17. The circuit's calendar for the month then comes to a close at Richmond International Raceway on April 30.
