After a long, cold offseason the Canadian Football League is back and kicking off the season's premier match up this Thursday will be the BC Lions and 2010 Grey Cup-winning Montreal Alouettes.
Can the fabled Montreal franchise win a third consecutive title in the CFL's 58th campaign? According to Bodog?s online sportsbook, they're amongst the early favorites with 3/1 odds of winning the Grey Cup. The Lions will have their work cut out for them starting the 2011 season off on the right foot this week after squeezing into the playoffs last fall with an 8-10 mark. They?re futures for the year, however, are an optimistic 11/2. The Lions will be in pursuit of their first Grey Cup since the 2006 season, but will have to get past the Western Conference favorite Calgary Stampeders who look like the team to beat on the eve of the season. Though the Als and Leos will usher in the new campaign on Thursday, taking place on Friday and Sunday will be a series of match ups featuring the remainder of the league?s eight teams. The 11/4 favorite Stamps will host the Toronto Argonauts while Hamilton?s Tiger-Cats welcome Winnipeg's other professional franchise, the Blue Bombers. Think you know how the year will go down? Weigh in on player props and team futures with Bodog's online sportsbook. Montreal's Anthony Calvillo is once again the early favorite to lead the league in passing yards while Toronto's Cory Boyd stands the safest bet to come away with the rushing yards crown.
