If you’re looking for a combination of great basketball and solid
betting value, the Big 12 is where it’s at. There are seven Big 12 teams
in the Top 25 of Ken Pomeroy’s efficiency-based rankings. All seven
have profitable records against the spread, including the Kansas
Jayhawks (15-3 SU, 11-6 ATS) and the Texas Longhorns (14-4 SU, 10-6
ATS), who meet this Saturday at the Frank Erwin Center.

In theory, Texas is carrying most of the betting value into Saturday’s
contest (2:00 PM ET, CBS). The Longhorns are No. 17 on the AP Top 25,
but No. 12 on the Pomeroy charts. The situation is reversed for the
Jayhawks; the writers prefer them at No. 11, but Pomeroy’s statistics
are less impressed at No. 17.
Although the ‘Horns may be undervalued in this situation, they’re 5-3 SU
and 3-5 ATS in their last eight games, while the ‘Hawks are on an
impressive 6-1 SU and ATS run. However, Texas is also 3-2 SU and ATS
since the return of sophomore guard Isaiah Taylor (16.5 PER) from a
broken left wrist, including back-to-back victories over West Virginia
(+3 away) and TCU (+2.5 at home).
