Close, but no cigar. That’s been the story of Murray’s career at the
Australian Open. On February 1, he lost to Djokovic in the Aussie Open
final for the third time but overall, that was his fourth loss in the
final. For his career, he’s now 8-16 versus Djokovic.
Murray will try to regroup at Rotterdam at the 2015 ABN AMRO World
Tennis Tournament next week, an event he’s conquered once previously.
Back in 2009, he topped Rafael Nadal in the final to earn his 11th
career title. However, he lost in the quarter-final last year to Marin
Cilic. Cilic is back, as is defending champ Tomas Berdych in what should
be a fairly challenging field. Stan Wawrinka, Milos Raonic, Jo-Wilfried
Tsonga and Ernests Gulbis have also confirmed for the hard court
tournament in Netherlands and the action gets underway on February 9.
