Duke Travels to Virginia in Key ACC Hoops Action

 

Duke Has Won 5 Straight Since Coack K Return

The Duke Blue Devils and the Virginia Cavaliers will meet on Wednesday  at John Paul Jones Arena on the University of Virginia's campus. Both teams are near the top of the ACC standings. Both teams are in a four-way tie for 2nd place with Florida State and Louisville. They are trailing North Carolina. Wednesday's game will be televised at 9 pm EST on ESPN2.

The Blue Devils have reeled off five straight victories. This includes beating ACC leader and bitter rival North Carolina last week. It looked as though Duke was heading downward after losing three of four games. Coach K returned to the sidelines and got the Blue Devils back on track.

Oddsmakers opened the Cavaliers as -4-point favorites versus the Blue Devils, while the game's total opened at 129.5.

Virginia was a 80-78 loser in their most recent outing on the road against the Virginia Tech Hokies. They failed to cover the -5-point spread as favorites. Virginia guard London Perrantes is coming off of a 22-point game against the Hokies. He had to take a career-high 22 shots to manage that though. Perrantes will need to continue to pace the Cavaliers against a Blue Devils team who will be keying on the senior.

Duke won its last outing, a 64-62 result against Clemson Tigers on February 11. They failed to cover in that game as a -11-point favorite. Duke guard Luke Kennard comes into the game averaging 20 points and five rebounds for the season. His ability to make outside shots along with his  ability to penetrate inside could provide a challenge for Virginia. UVA struggled against Virginia Tech's dribble penetration.
